    This was good to see. My coach is always telling us to push through with the ground leg hamstring, just as you show. It does make a huge difference.

    Thank you Donavan! You're right, this is not talked about and taught enough. I can do a pretty high side kick holding onto a wall but cannot get the same height once I let go of the wall. Also I have noticed that my supporting foot starts to hurt after a while. I think this could be part of the problem.... also I would love a video about how to do the Koryo double side kick properly :)

    It's the ground leg that allows you to balance kick harder etc etc etc I agree too many rely of the kicking leg and neglect the importance on that leg that's the main foundation... Great video

    I'm 2 years late on this video but this is exactly the information I needed tonight. In fact, I think next time I'm teaching stretching this is going to be what I tell the kids about. Because some of them are probably not flexible enough to get into this position yet, But it's always good to know why we are doing these stretches.

    I like your courses... Really great stuff.
    But I have one question about the Sidekick. I see your upper body goes also down, but in my opinion a better looking Sidekick is, when the torso is more upright.
    Is a this more than genetics gifted or also a case of flexibility?

    I always feel like my outer hip is too tight. I can touch my toes and am fairly flexible but I struggle to get above waist height, even with ground leg turned.

    I am trying to get that flexibility.... But no luck ... I guess I must practice months.... I am doing karate but my kicks are not good (the high kicks only) . My body on that area of kicking is very stiff.

    Bro, do you recommend stretching every day ... I mean stretching while having sore muscles ?? Please explain briefly 🙏

      Your body is a better teacher than anyone else will ever be. If you feel lots of pain one day...take a breather. If you're feeling a little sore, do just a few light stretches in the areas that feel sore to relieve some of the tension. Work up to stretching every day...but you may start with three or four times a week until your muscles are used to that kind of training :)

      Yes it’s totally ok! You just need to always be conscious of where your ground leg is. Use a mirror if you can or film yourself
