This SmallRig Battery Is INSANE!

- SmallRig and I made a camera battery together and it rocks! The SmallRig Caleb Pike VB212 Mini V-Mount battery is available here: geni.us/smallrig-vb212
This 212Wh V-Mount battery has two USB-C PD jacks that can deliver up to 140W of power each while also give you 12v, 8v, dual D-Tap jacks, BP jack and an extra USB-A jack.
Charing from 0-100% only takes 2 hours over USB-C and the battery can still be used.
This was a collaboration between SmallRig and myself so the battery comes with my Signature and channel name on it as well as a 240W USB-C signature cable.

Got to see if lasts, the old small rig Batterys you could kill charging via USB-C that happened to two of mine until I found out about it

I love the VB99 Pros, I have two, but the main issue with them is that is advertised on the website that it supports charging multiple devices at once, but once you plug in both USB-C ports to charge other products, the USB-A port stops working and cant charge anything. Besides that, perfect product.
Does you 99Pro power button - powers off the baterry while the cables are plugged into it? It seems in my case in order to stop the draw of power i have to phisically unplugg all the cables from the baterry. the power buttons does not do anything while the cables are connected. Whitch makes it very impractical during a shoot. and doesnt bode well for the longevitiy of the ports. becase i find myself constantly plugiing and unpluging cables from the battery. Not to mention thet fact that turning the whole rig with one button was one of the reasons i bought one battery to power all of my rig at once.
@@telfer3388that is right! Unfortunately that is another issue that I found with the vb99 pro battery. The only way to solve this right now that I could think of is buying the CineBack from Pike or RigidPro that have a on/off switch. But that will work only for the d-tap connections. I think that a switch button is a must and they missed it.

This is such a good product. The VB99's were already amazing and everything v-mounts should be. Having high wattage PD USB-C in/out is a game changer but all the extra improvements and little things like wattage displays is so cool. Hoping this is available in Australia as even though I'm totally happy with my VB99s I'll be picking one of these up too

I just wish this was made as a “Pro” version of the 155wh V mount, at least that size can fly with on airlines under the FAA exception domestically in the US.

Really wish smallrig would put the button above or in front, they become upstructed when using dual vmount plates when put on the side.

Nice! Congrats on the collar. Looks awesome. I haven't ventured into the V Mount eco system as of yet but this looks great. This could be great for use on the home front as it looks like you can't travel with this whopper.

I just got a VB99 Pro which seems to be this exact battery, but smaller and with one less D-tap
I'm not sure what I would need that extra D-tap for and the capacity beyond airline allowance heavily limits what I could do with one of these 🤔

Love my 99. I have one gripe though. With all of the ports now on the battery itself, it would be nice to have a global power switch on the battery itself. If I use the battery ports for a rig, I need to unplug all of the connections to keep the battery from draining, even if all of the connected devices are off. It’s annoying to have to disconnect everything when I turn off my rig.

Hi Caleb! I just picked up my 212 this afternoon from B&H. I know I can charge it using USB-C, but can I also charge it using my regular v-mount charger (BP)? If yes, is does it make a difference whether I charge it with USB-C or BP? Thank you again for helping making this awesome battery!

Caleb, that looks like a really cool product you designed with Smallrig. Congrats also to them to chose the right guy and not save on the wrong ends. There are probably a lot of product managers that wanted more and better products, but were constrained by corporate or simply economical reasons - not here! That shows what social media and collaborations can be good for - wish you success with it that supports that kind of acting.
ONE question though: it looks almost too perfect to be true, so let me ask that one thing that left me another investment being way lesser usable years ago - phantom drainage. I know it sounds like the Tesla I don‘t own, but seriously, does all that electronics drain much when the battery idles ? Or is sitting around on the shelves for 4 weeks ? Is it empty then or has only 70% left of a 100% state of charge when I put it there ?
The compact V-Mount Battery Mounting System coming with this battery is Mark I or Mark II, or is it v1 or v2? bcoz v1 have real issues that they fixed in v2.
This is what I need for my Komodo! Should get me through a lot of shoot days on a single batt, amazing work!
