After years and years this channel is still the gold standard. If those cinebacks are ever actually available again, I need to get one for my FX3 :)
So true. soooo true
Thanks so much Benj! New batch every month!
@@dslrvideoshooter stoked! I’ll jump on a preorder when it opens next!
Could you design a version for cameras that do not have flip out screens? For example , the a6300.
@@dslrvideoshooter caleb, you forgot to change the download link on your website for the sm7b. it only gives the v1, not the v2!! can you tell me when you fix this cause i have to wait until then to print it off
Can't imagine TH-cam without these gems of videos. Thanks again! Looking deeper into the LTO drive and tapes for work!
This is what we want- Caleb doing cool videos he enjoys. Keep up the good work brother
There we go! extension handle.
Your cinebacks are so underrated!!! I don't have a FX30 yet but the cineback makes me want to get it ASAP!
Perfect. Your involvement in all this stuff causes you to almost step off the screen and into the room. It's great to see you back at 110%.
Your favourite cam + lens is actually the ultimate combo! 🙏🏾
Great to see you Caleb! Love your work! 3D and on screen.
Picked up the fx30 and a set of Sigma lenses and couldn’t agree more. Such a badass camera! Really appreciate your reviews Caleb!
Always a pleasant surprise when you post
So much value, Caleb. Thanks for the book rec, too - checked my Goodreads and realized it's already on my list!
I love this video Caleb. I really appreciate it!
One of my favorite TH-camrs. I follow many, but few I would want to hang with IRL. Thx for all your great content and the joy you spread. I'm truly inspired.
Dude I love the custom builds! keep them coming!
So happy to see you back !!!
Your Cineback makes me want an FX3 or FX30. Such a great design, and now with the top handle extension!
Thanks Tanner!
So glad to see you again!
These are my favourite videos that you do. Always great discoveries.
So glad to see this video! Thanks, Caleb.
Such a great video Caleb....really enjoy your insights and reviews....top flight!
Thank you Paul!
Agreed on all fronts. Already ordered the top-handle, and now just waiting for the next round of pre-orders for the cineback base kit. So stoked on everything you're creating these days.
Thank you so much for the support!!!
So nice to see you again!
Thomas Sowell! I knew I liked Caleb for more reasons than just video stuff! Way to share some real literature! 📖
Always good advices, thanks for the video
This list is incredible!
Always good to see keyboard maestro!
Hooray! Glad to see a new video Caleb lets gooo!
Excellent video. Thanks for doing this!
Great recs, thanks Caleb! Had no idea about the tape drives
great video ! I really love this new format, you seem a lot more relaxed and laid back ! I do need to add that, regarding economics, as a DP/finance guy, just like in video production, macro stuff is way more easy to understand than micro stuff😂😂
So good! Maestro!🎉
I use the FX30 and the same sigma lens too. Good to hear confirmation on the combination. It has been working well for me too
This channel is pure gold!
Nice to see you back.
Cheers so much ❤
Phenomenal book.
the goat uploaded !!!
The Nitze is one of the best top handles in its size range. I've acquired most on the market in recent years, and they usually end up on a tripod rig or in my parts-is-parts drawer.
I also just started using Keyboard Maestro and Karabiner Elements and I'm loving it! These tools bring so much more functionality to the Mac. If you're using an external mouse, I'd also recommend SteerMouse or BetterMouse to be able to remap the buttons to custom functions. Also are you still editing in Final Cut Pro?
I think last year's top purchases were a cheap 80w video light from Raleno + a small softbox and a cheap c stand. I love that I can just roll the light around and position it in any way I can think of. It makes filming in my office so much more flexible. And after switching the internal fan to something more quiet, it is no longer audible.
My top purchase for this year better be the Sony 70-200 G2 because that thing cost me an arm and a leg. I get a lot of use for product shots out of it, so I think it will be worth it. I also got a used MacBook Pro M1 Pro which I love.
If you have not already done so, I would love to see a video that dives deeper into those softwares you mentioned!
The Mac Studio (M1 Ultra) changed the game for me regarding efficiency. There’s no way I could have done as much work as I did in 2023 without it. Great list!
Agree - my machine is a best and makes edits so fast (with Final Cut Pro) - its so good that I really don't feel any need to upgrade after 2years - but probably will in the next year or so just to keep on the optimal resale / new gear purchase / minimise depreciation path.
Hey Caleb! You've always been a big help for me when learning about gear. Praying for you and your family, God bless you, rest in Jesus!
Releasing a cage for the lumix s5 series from s5 to the s5iix would be a game changer. More and more filmmakers are getting into lumix because of the price and image quality. I know I would buy
Defo tempted by that 18-50 seeing as I recently bought the FX30 as a b cam to my FX3. Actually bought the full set of 7Artisans Vision cine lenses after watching your video on them, shot a music festival on them and was super impressed
My favorite is for those traveling and want to backup or move files from one SD card to another WITHOUT using a laptop. With the PGYTECH CreateMate Card Reader I'm able to plug this into my Pixel 7 Pro and use File Manager+ to copy/move files from one card to another (it has two slots and android recognizes them as two usb drives). I use it to off load files from my expensive main V90 SD card to far less expensive microSD cards. Transfer rates are around 40MB/sec.
Thank you for the video Caleb! Curious why you'd go with the rode wireless pro over the DJI Mic 2, please!
I love the Sigma 18-50mm too, if I can only have one lens, that's it.
You look good dude. Happy to see you back. Take care of yourself.
Thomas Sowell’s work is genius.
Hi Caleb will you do a long term review of the LTO? In terms of workflow, the specific models you went for etc.
Great video!
been watchin your channel for a good bit, great stuff! . .but you just shot to one of my atf's with the beautiful braking caster mods section : ) where can i find some of those, with the pretty red wheels?
I love these lists, because as a full time video creator myself, I always wonder how much overlap I will have with other creators.
The biggest surprise for me this year is how much I absolutely love the fx30. Incredibly cheap for everything you get, and tbh, you could get away with shooting the majority of work on that cheap camera and most people would never know. Also, for a prosumer mic, the wireless pros are replacing some of my “pro” gear due to its ease of use and feature set.
We use those tapes in MSFT datacenter and keep backups at Iron Mountain
Love your new path going forward. You do you Caleb. I've been following LTO tape for a while but still not made the jump forward in purchasing the LTO deck. One day.
Dude! Gear, tools, software, books! Only thing you left out was food!!! That CNC ability is HUGE! You planning on getting one in-house eventually?
Thanks man! Yes I should add food!!! I’ll probably never bring in CNC machining due to expense and expertise needed and I don’t want to scale too fast. Maybe someday though!
Never say never! Keep your stick on the ice! 😉
The Nitze is the best handle I've used also. The only negative with the original one ( like you have I think) is that it's very heavy. They just released a new version which weighs considerably less.
still loving the content, as a guide purchaser, discord member etc. I love what you do. BTW, Does the cineback fully support USB-C PD? I think that was my only hang-up when it released. Either way I am waiting for the top handle mod version. Looks dope.
Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt is also another fantastic book.
Loved the video! Will the R5C CineBack that you're making be compatible (or semi-compatible) with the R6?
Hey Caleb ! Just discovered Keyboard Maestro thanks a ton, great tool. Do you use it while editing ? If so what would be ab example of something a keyboard shortcut from Final Cut for instance can't do ?
Welcome back man, hope you’re doing well
If I only plan on using my FX3 with the top handle and I don’t currently own a cineback, do you have a kit that includes the top handle extension with the mount battery plate? Or do I have to purchase them separately?
woah, great to know about the LTO tapes! Haven't heard about those yet
Wow, glad to see you're "back". I was afraid after one of the prior videos you were "quitting TH-cam" like "everyone else". As always, truly excellent content and reviews.
Awesome 👏🏼
Can't wait for a S5IIX CineBack, FX3 one is soooooo cool
Love your personal touch on the book! How’s the anxiety man? Prayin for you!
One of the most well-rounded gear roundups of yours! PS can you make a cage that’s actually easy to take on/off for hybrid cameras? No idea how but
That was all great.
When will cineback be available again?? I've wanted to order it since it first came out but its always sold out!!
Hey, I love you content. I was just looking at your nikon z6 video and you had said back then that you were going to be making videos about it but I couldn’t find any. Do you still plan on making some for it? I have a Z30 and am planning and buying it at a next upgrade.
LTO tapes! I can hear the sound of the drive running! As expensive as those drives are, the cost of reliably storing that much data really can't be beat.
You should make a cineback for the GH6 as well ;-) Something with a similar handle as the Sony so we can mount the audio break out box more to the front. I believe there was an extension cable with hotshoe available. That way we don't need to mount a monitor on top of the audio break out but can mount it behind to make it more compact.
Nitze handles are the friggin best. I have two of them. I'll get the one you showed as well
Hey Caleb! I was wondering if you were planning on creating CineBack for other cameras like the S5II?
Welcome back to the best! :-)
My Smallrig Vmount personal experience/// I had a shoot outside in winter all day (30 degrees F) , and used 3 CoreSWX vmounts and 1 Smallrig. The Cores lasted hours and the smallrig only lasted 1/3rd that. So just a heads up for anyone looking to purchase, may not be suitable in colder conditions.
Great list, I love my thread finder. I wanted a cineback but the audio top handle kit addition priced me out. Maybe the price will come down in the future or I can add it to my budget this year. I do like your version vs the Korean or where ever its from ridgid knock off. I'm getting more and more into home automation as well. There's a lot of neat stuff you can do with Google home and Alexa devices.
Which lens would you recommend to be a companion for the Sigma 18-50?
He's alive!!! Everyone be nice!
Question about the FX30: how bad is the rolling shutter? Distracting, or barely noticeable?
My Mac Studio is just a workhorse, wonder what the M3 version is going to come around
Thomas Sowell is fantastic stuff!!
Is the cineback manufactured to fit different bodies? Would it work with a GH5?
I wonder how it compares between the Rode Wireless Go Pro and the new DJI Mic 2. Are they similar?
What a great cart at 2:10. What is it?
Please use Kondor Blue cages for Lumix Cineback builds🤞
Can use the thread finder as for focus....
hi i am trying to find my first video/phote camera what is a good mid range one?
Always some surprises when you do one of these Caleb. LTO drive is my wish list now °¬)
Also, love all the content around your own gear so great to see you putting your CineBack on your 'best gear' list!
What was that lens at 0:34 I have never seen it before and am just curious
Have you tried the falcam top handles yet?
Caleb, I would love to hear more about the LTO! I've been looking at using LTO but unlike you I can't justify the drive cost yet! What drive did you go with? New or used? Did you do LTO 7, 8, or 9? Thanks and love the videos!
He mentioned 12TB per tape, so that's LTO8. LTO versions are generational, so LTO7 is becoming less as LTO8 becomes more common. LTO9 is still not very widely used. From the picture it looks like a MagStor desktop unit that he's using.
@@christykail3314 thanks!
@dslrvideoshooter do you know any right side handle with Bluetooth Record button?
Do you have a cineback for a Sony a7r 5?
Hi, any news on the Sony A7S IV?
yeh X1 Carbon, game changer!
Thanks :)
