Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included th-cam.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
I am a little confused why didn’t you buy the black brown dresser and paint that one black. Because if you nicked it black brown would show threw not white. You did a beautiful job and I do love it.
Love the way you talked through your decision-making process! I have to remove warning stickers off of all my Ikea items too haha One thing thats helped me is using a hairdryer to warm up the stickers. It melts the adhesive and comes right off!
Beautiful accomplished goal ! Just a couple tips. if you are intending for the trim to be temporary than tacking with some brads is fine, but then painting everything first incase they become loose and show white cracks. Now, if this is permanent than you want to glue the trim. It will be the glue thats holds the trims in place for the long run, while the brads give extra support from jolts and bangs. Primer for everything, including walls, dark or rich colors ? go with a dark primer. Doing so will save you money by cutting out the cost of extra top coats. To give furniture a more upscale look, always follow through with the details to the sides of a unit like your added on moulding. That would look beautiful if you framed out the inside of the leg area including tops and bottoms. It's the cheaper designs from cheap manufacturers that cut out side details. Glad to see someone showing good outside the box thinking ❣
We painted some campaign furniture black years ago and used a clear top coat to protect it which has really lasted and held up so well; however, we did not pain the inside of the furniture as the lighter original color makes it so much easier to find things inside the drawers, especially if we only have on a small bedside lamp. Just something to consider. Thanks for your video.
Wow!! It looks great Megan. I love your version, and it's beautiful in the room. I can't believe the gorgeous light you get in your basement. Holy cow.
You nailed the look, and the piece is exactly the right size for that space! Brava on both counts! I'm green with envy over your basement workspace and tools...
I've got the black brown in my cart so I can see the primer coverage better lol 🤣 I am using one inch half rounds to line the outer part of the drawer to give it a chunky headed look. I'm so excited to see someone else hacking the koppang!
Wow! Beautiful work! I have fallen in love with the same style of night stand as you and they range in the $1,500 to $2,500+ range. I was dumbfounded. How...if only Ikea sold a similar item with a pull-out tray. I have my heart set on a pull-out tray. :)
The night stands are so nice. That’s always nice is closed storage. I got two drawers but only two drawers. I wish had yours but they wouldn’t fit in my bedroom.
Looks exactly like the McGee & Co. Great job. I’ve never been to an IKEA. For some reason they aren’t on every corner (outside of Philadelphia) and, I always say I need to go there because of all of the IKEA hack videos. Keep up the good work.
Yes you do! They also have great prices on kitchen items and curtains and other textiles. The furniture is honestly not very well made but perfect for anyone who wants to do a hack or is just on a budget. Thanks for watching ❤️
Love, love this. I couldn't find anything within my budget for new nightstands. 2000.00 each or more... So you did really, really good and you just helped me budget tremendously. Thank you
This is the first time seeing your channel. This is exactly what I was looking for!!! I will be trying my very first diy project because of you. Thanks so much! ❤
Beautiful, I do have a question, I’m wondering why you chose to paint the white dresser black instead of buying the black option.. curious as I’d like to attempt this DIY. Thank you!
The black version is not actually black. It’s “black brown” and to me it’s much more brown than I’d prefer. So I’d be painting it either way. I chose what was available at my local ikea.
Perfect, thank you! Did you run into the issue with your nightstand surface being a bit rough after painting? I'm using a 1/4" nap purdy roller (mirror finish) and my surface is coming out rough... Looking for ways to get that smooth finish, but if that's just the way the Ikea material is, then that's fine.
Gorgeous your work is so exceptional!! I am looking for nightstands now and the pricing is completely ridiculous for subpar materials. This is a great idea. I love the way they turned out!! Great job!!
Very nice. You make it look so easy, but I know it isn't! It's outrageous what furniture is costing these days, and it's not as if it's made from actual solid wood, either. Being on a very small budget, a few years ago I could furnish most of my living room for the cost of one of those 3-drawer night stand/dressers - nearly $2,000! Give me a break!
I’m hearing you. I wanted to buy some beautiful inlay bedside tables…$2500- each. Absolutely crazy. Especially when you have another 4 bedrooms to finish…..and they’re only made of mdf.
I remember when I first moved out on my own I found out that you could pick up payments where other people had left off at Rent-A-Center and Aaron’s And that they do 30 days same as cash. So I would pick up a bunch of extra jobs and try to pay the $600 off in a month. I did that with my dining room set and my sofa.
I hear you on the cost/quality. I saw some Pottery Barn bedroom furniture on FB marketplace and was surprised how badly the finish had held up - I know that furniture wasn’t cheap but needed work after just a few years. Crazy.

Finally an ikea hack that’s actually worth doing 🎉
Love this DIY! Looks just as elegant as the McGee & Co versions!
I totally agree! Thank you 😊
Lovely! The addition of the trim made all the difference!
Beautiful room!
Yes! Thank you!

Wow looks so great! The trim just adds an extra layer of elegance. No one would think it’s ikea. Furniture prices are crazy these days!!!

Well done Megan, great to see you back on the "Tube" The nightstands look beautiful and if I was Mcgee and Co they should hire you.
You’re so sweet! Thank you 🤪
Saw your channel recommended. Opened your about page. Immediately subbed. This is the kind of thing I like to watch

Wow!! I cant believe how incredible these look!! Absolutely as nice as the expensive ones. Great job ❤
Thank you so much!!
Congratulations, you are what I wish I could be. I love carpentry and building things but don’t know where to start 🤷🏻♀️
This turned out amazing. I can’t believe the price of the ones from McGee and Co! Love your bed too
Thanks so much!!
The resulting look is simple yet elegant. Beautifully done.
I've got the black brown in my cart so I can see the primer coverage better lol 🤣 I am using one inch half rounds to line the outer part of the drawer to give it a chunky headed look. I'm so excited to see someone else hacking the koppang!
So beautiful! It is the perfect look. I love the drawer knobs too. It’s so great when you can just use what’s there.
It really is!

Oh yes, I agree. A pull out tray would be lovely!!
As always, you did a great job, Megan. ($2,000 for one night stand?! Simply reinforces why I never buy new!) Can’t wait to see your finished bedroom!❤
Thank you Carol!

Wow! I'm glad I saw this DIY video. You knocked that out of the park and I learned something today. Well done!
Love, love this. I couldn't find anything within my budget for new nightstands. 2000.00 each or more... So you did really, really good and you just helped me budget tremendously. Thank you

Thanks so much! ❤
Wow this is exactly what we need in our master, the ones I looked at are just way to expensive ❤
Yay! Glad you found jt
It looks very expensive, great job.👍
Looks good, I usually tint the primer with the paint color especially because when I use two different colors.
Yes, and this stuff is tintable up to two ounces so it would be a wise decision to do so.
It looks amazing!!!!! Wow! Thanks for the great video lesson!
This looks wonderful
Thank you for saying so!
Very nice

How beautiful
Hello! LOVE LOVE LOVE this nightstand!! Inspired me to recreate this myself! Question for you... What sheen did you use for your paint??
Oh thank you! On the nightstands? Satin.

Nice!
Love it! Really love it! Beautiful job.
That came out great! You've inspired me to try this. I cannot wait for spring to come so I can paint outside
Yes! If you can paint with that primer outside, I recommend it. It’s very toxic.
Great job as always Megan!! Great to see you back on You Tube.
Thank you!! 😊
Perfect!
Wow that is stunning can’t wait to try this out!! 😍
Great job on both the nightstand and the video! Well done.

I also painted SoMe Ikea furniture. But they get some scratshes easily. Did you use anything on top pf paint To protect the paint?
Was the black IKEA dresser not in stock? I would have thought buying the black one would have been easier
Wow! These came out beautifully. I know the price of nightstands is unreal-I don’t know how ordinary people buy two.
Thank you! And same! The average person cannot spend that much money just on nightstands.
looks amazing. Great job!
Glad you like it!
