I thing what scares me most about the backrooms as a concept are the levels; not the entities, atleast not outside of a mechanical view, but the extraordinary sense of dread when you ask yourself, were these houses, corridors, and cities built? someone or something at some point made this, there's moss, it's moist and destroyed, as if it once stood up like ours. The entities help to some extent in also asking what they are - they could be just things that inhabit, or consequence of whatever caused the backrooms, or worst case scenario, they're people.

For the "You cheated" ending: guess what? This is a prank! You actually escaped! You friends just knew you were in the backrooms and decided to pull a fun prank on your before greeting you again! Truly canon ending: You escaped with your camera after Taking a photo of the backrooms and post ir on 4 chan to warn everyone sadly your live end days later cuz You Have NOT ESCAPE ALONE and that thing find You and Enter in the real Word we aren't more safe...

For those of you who dont know, the Lost ending gets triggered when you enter Sub level 37. When you reach the bottom of the steps, look through the door way, if there are perfectly straight lines of water then go back up. All water is randomly generated but sub level 37 has the same water formations everytime
Forest Ending: You encounter a door that looks oddly familiar. You go through it and are teleported to a large forest. It smells like dirt and grass. You wander through the forest for a while. You feel safe.

Its actually terrifying to think that even outside the backrooms, you can't be sure you're free unless you see other people. That means if you escape in a place that's desolate, you'd probably lose your mind before someone found you. I can't even imagine what it'd be like to be trapped in what's basically Limbo (not the game the actual place) littered with entities that try to turn you into one of them. For those of you who dont know, the Lost ending gets triggered when you enter Sub level 37. When you reach the bottom of the steps, look through the door way, if there are perfectly straight lines of water then go back up. All water is randomly generated but sub level 37 has the same water formations everytime
