    I am 66 year old man from the north of England who, who does not understand hip hop at all, but this young man just resonates with my heart and soul. I do like to follow other people and listen to their views about RENs music and I really enjoyed your views and reactions.

    He did this with another music producer who also had the same issues with Kujo and they split everything 50/50.

      Thanks - I'll need to look into that more! Too bad Kujo didn't take the same deal!

    The opening monologue is from the NIV version of 1 Timothy chapter 6 verses 6-10
    1 Timothy 6:6-10
    But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

    He wore that hat in the live version of MONEY GAME 2 at the Sky Arts Awards just to reinstall an even more powerful message.

      Yeah - I remembered after I finished where I had seen it before. I'm glad I wasn't off mark :)

      …but what message is he trying to send with the hat on and off in the video?

    • @DadDaughtersandDrinks
      @DadDaughtersandDrinks  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I speculated in the reaction that he might be wearing the hat on and off to give a sense of how money impacts people from all socioeconomic classes. Or it could be an Easter egg for the Awards show. Or just a style choice! haha, so many options.

    Great reaction! Amazing how you notice all the small things from other songs and can recall them to compare it the this song. Extremely well done! Subbed and I'm gonna check out your other reactions! Can't wait for all your insight!

    Man you got the history down with the “life is funny” call back. And the half word rhymes etc. Your Ren catalog knowledge is better than most. Yeah the Greed and capitalism mix is the line in the sand and the theme he sticks to for sure. Good point

    Love this track so much. Powerful message and heartfelt love for his little sister.
    The quote is from the bible: Timothy
    Funny how an Agnostic Artist reminds so many of their own teachings in their holy book that so many do not live by.

    The piano reminds of the piano parts in MG part 3. Although not exactly the same notes and cadence.

    Yes, it’s the LOVE of money , when it leads to the worship of money- turning profit into a Prophet and, as you noted, can turn those who preach of THE Prophet onto the same path as the “ wicked” ( GREED …IN THE NAME OF RELIGION ). It is a double edged sword: it can be used to carve and create ( hopefully a world in which one leaves a positive net gain for humanity as a whole) or it can be used for purely selfish and self serving purposes ( giving nothing to the betterment of humanity as a whole). Also , RENs verse for his sister emphasizes that it is the love that we give that makes us richer, and it’s the love that nourishes us.

    A lot of people also say, "Money's not the root of all evil. LOVE of money is" as if that were an undisputed fact. BOTH quotes are opinions, not scientific or mathematical fact. BOTH hold some truth. To dismiss one, with the other one, automatically and with no real thought, is a sign of brainwashing, worryingly.
    The concept of money itself, despite being a useful tool in many respects, also inherently hold a lot of real problems, not least in the way it shapes society. It's NOT just the love of money that's the problem here. All these "corrections" of the bible quote are essentially empty, especially of thought.

    • @DadDaughtersandDrinks
      @DadDaughtersandDrinks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you may be looking into it a bit too much. The Bible quote is that the love of money is the root of all evil. Yet many people think they're quoting the Bible when they say money is the root of all evil. So people correct them with the right phrase. I don't the correction is either condemning or condoning either sentiment, it's just correcting a misstatement.

      Yes, Ren definitely wouldn't want people stopping and trying to understand his music as best they can /s. The link to the original is in the description if you want to watch the uninterrupted original.
