    I recently acquired a muscle car from my brother and assumed that since he had been using it, everything was fine. When you mentioned that the camry always runs low on oil, I was forced to check it out, lo and behold, the oil level was very well below the low indication point on the needle. I'll be taking it for servicing tomorrow being Monday. Thanks for saving my engine from knocking.

    • @234drive
      @234drive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Haha, you are welcome bro. What you can do is, after servicing the car you keep about 4 litres of oil in your trunk and be topping it every 3 weeks.

      I leave in the USA, my friend has one, he never complained whether the engine burns oil or not.
      So suggestions would be (1) try and study your car very well by servicing with different quality oil and see which one is best suited for the car. It's very possible that the engine selects oil
      Better still, anytime you want to do oil change, make sure you include oil treatment if you're in Nigeria.

      @adekunleolamilekan2094 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many Camry users hardly check their oil level often, especially Toyota users, until when they begin to see signs of damage, then they’ll say a car is problematic.

    I own the 2011 camry with navigation. Shipped directly from the state. It's 8 yrs now, stil driving perfectly well. After 5000 mils , he indicates. Ment required. All i do is changed the oil 15,000 . And it's good to go.. I love this car and I don't wish to changed it any time soon.

    For me the 2GR-Fe engine v6 is like the most reliable of well maintained, because toyota carried that engine to newer cars like 2010-2015 rx350. If u can pay attention and change faulty parts on time the u’ll enjoy the car. Toyota called back 2007-2009 to fix some general issues in the abroad so u may be lucky to buy a Toks that is problem free.

  • @MrPhinter
    @MrPhinter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    The engine is good but I wouldn’t say run forever. The 2007-2009 models seem to consume oil at a point. I think it has to do with the ring as it’s a factory problem. But from 2010-2011 which shares the same engine with the Venza. Now that year’s engine is bullet proof.

      True

  • @nnamdiikpeze3042
    @nnamdiikpeze3042 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Actually the sport models have a better dashboard that doesn't melt like the others, the four cylinder engine 2.4 that was carried over from the 02-06 camry is not bulletproof at all but from late 2009 manufacture up the Camry was equipped with a 2.5 four that is great. The SE V6 from 2007 to the end of production is the most enjoyable with its solid suspension set up and sharp movement but has a problematic 22pin 6 speed gearbox that fails frequently.
    Overall it is a good car, quite spacious and utilitarian.

    The 2.5ltr straight four variants are a lot easier to work on as they’ve got more space in the engine bay.
    The V6s however have a north south configuration which was a bit of work to replace those gaskets and ECU sensors.

    There’s nothing sporty about the Toyota xv60(Camry). The dashboard material melts only if you use any kind aerosol on it. It’s noisy on the inside while driving.
    It’s just a bloated midsize sedan with a luxury exterior. Body heavy for the 4cyl engine which kills the tranny and overwork the motor. 3.5l 6cyl engine is good but don’t try to play sports with it, the chassis can’t bear stress. Seems cheap to maintain with low quality aftermarket spare parts, OEM parts will syphon your savings.

    Common Check engine light is as a result of a fault in the engine, catalyst from the exhaust has been removed (common practice in nigeria) where i live, if your vehicle shows the check engine light, you cannot even drive it talk less of using it and ignoring the light

    • @234drive
      @234drive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmmmmm…this is very correct. The Catalyst Theft has risen very high in Nigeria but then until 2010…check engine light was an actual fault on the Camry. So if all checks are in place but the light is still on. You have to ignore

      Majority of this check engine is 02 sensor..but Nigerians see check engine light as another kinda Christmas light for decoration..maintenance culture in this country is trash

    I have never owned a car before, but I am planning to buy one direct Belgium soon. The issue is that I am contemplating on the best car to get, one that I can easily use for Uber after my office work and also for my family. Currently, I am considering the Camry 2008, Camry 2006, and Nissan Altima 2009 as my initial options. Could you please advise me on which of these cars would best meet my requirements?

      I don't own a car either, but from reviews I've seen, I think you should cancel that Nissan from your list.
