Look at the front licence plate. A crooked licence plate will tell you the former owner was fond of hitting other vehicles or whatever they failed to stop for.
Crank, you gave really good tips on purchasing Nigerian used cars. Kudos! The only one I found a bit off was the engine bay cleaning. I flip cars as a side hustle and when I'm getting a car to flip for quick buck, the cleanliness of the engine bay tells me a lot about the owner. Also, even if the engine bay was dirty as at the time I purchase the car, I can spend the whole weekend deep cleaning it and the rest of the interior. This act alone raises the value of the car by 5-10%. This is before I even start putting repairs money into it. The only time I'd suspect anything about the health status of the engine is when I see fresh oil in it. That tells me that the owner is hiding something, maybe oil shortage or poor maintenance culture. So yeah, that's the only thing I'd add
I agree with Crank, I was watching a big Yankee car TH-camr, @ChrisFix And he was talking about red flags when trying to buy a used car He said the same thing, a cleaned out engine is a sign that the seller is trying to hide some engine fault
welcome back Crank.... Your hair?? Amazing helpful points, to add something I personally notice; Some cars are recycled from accidents, so they assemble different frames together and make it look new. You see cars like this driving like it's moving at angle sideways. *To avoid this when inspecting for purchase, take time to stand at the (far rear Centre) and (far front Centre) of the car to make sure the frame is aligned ( straight). i.e if you're standing far behind the car you should be able to see only the 2 back tires and as far as just the back doors and vice versa. Note if you do that with a keen eye you should notice if the frame is streamlined. Hope this made sense to someone??
Buy fuel, test drive for long distance even if it's d owner driving, then inspect the engine bay for oil leaks, if u around an area where there is an uphill road, take the car uphill. It will tell u how good the engine is. Then check for signs of accident. U do this by checking d chassis and body.
You're right, and the underline word there is TRUSTED. Some mechanics will signal the seller and agree to come back and collect his share after you've paid for it. They'll see that the car is bad and still tell you its ok so that they can come back to the seller to collect their share. Make sure you really trust that mechanic you're taking to inspect a car you want to buy o!
nice, for the commercial part, Some cars are built specifically for commercial use eg some Benzs designed to be used as taxis in Germany, those ones last longer than the regular use ones.
Nice presentation as always, Crank. The part that got me thinking is the commercial car. Perhaps it may be nice to separate highway miles or km and city miles or km and I will strongly recommend highway commercial vehicle over the town driven cars (if oil changes were done when due). Due to the state of our roads and commercial drivers approach to driving, I will worry about the "legs". I.e. shocks, bushins, tie rod, control arms etc. Otherwise if the interior is not abused, a commercial vehicle may not be bad.
I actually love the funny way you do your reviews Nice one By the way, this new hair no follow at all. You don't look like Crank the car guy. The dread is actually way better and black fits u more than the blonde colour
Buying Nigeria used car is a very risky venture! But taking the right caution as Crank as advised, it can be the best deal somethings. Toks or new is most times always better.
Great points but always obviously overlooked. The new hair style though is not so cool and somehow the video quality today is not sharp as per your usual standard. Wetin happen na?
Lightning could be better. A little makeup and a brightly colored or patterned tshirt. The haircut could be better with just punk and reduced sides. HNY
Shank, I honestly don’t agree with you about cleaned out engine bay.. I own a 2013 honda accord couple with about 143k miles on it. Heck I clean out my engine at least once a month. Plus I ensure my car is fault free completely. I don’t like to have any dashboard sign on my dashboard… if you buy my car bro, you ain’t fixing Jack unless you wanna to do cosmetic changes on the car. If you doubt me, come check it out yourself.
Tnx Crank but please what did you think about the Tokunbo Peugeot 206 the auto Is it worth buying for Daily activities I mean for going to school Going out Like What's your Suggestions for a Young Student buying it
You didn't talk about looking at the date the car came into Nigeria on the custom paper, it's very important to know how long a car has been used on Nigerian roads.
Hello Mr crank thank you for all you do mehn you are really doing a great job.. kindly help to do a review on Acura TL 11/12 for some us who have interest in that car 😢please thank you
Hi crank thanks for always being there for us ❤ I wanted to make an enquiries of how to know a good Nigerian used 2010 and 2012 Benz C300,c63 and they should be at the range of how much
Crank I have been following you for a very long time now but you aren't responding to my own request, I really need you to do a comprehensive review on the Mercedes C230 2005/2007 model the 4 cylinder engine to be precised. Plsssss I need to know what I want to buy
If person no buy car wey dey have join iron under …boss nah person go use am I’m a car dealer Nah all car go later rust And them go join iron to them But price may reduce
Would you advice to buy a car when you don't leave in Naija? You only come every 5 months, but you don't like to borrow cars, you have a house in gated estate. Is it advisable to buy, drive while around and park the car at home for the next 5 months before using it again... Would you say that is okay? If yes why and how can I keep the battery functioning well. Thank you!
Thanks for this video, I had this experience recently. I was thinking that if I spent money on the car to correct it’s issues, everything would be fine. I ended up selling the car after spending almost 1million naira. And I bought it for about a million. I later sold it for 1.4million. The person that bought it eventually ended up replacing the engine and gear.
I have this Nigerian used painted 2010 Corolla car I wanted to buy,abd then seller said it doesn't come with custom papers because it was bought new here is Toyota company.. please I want to know how true is this and should I still go ahead and pay .. it's not accidented car
Yeah, if it was bought brand new in a dealership then it won't have customs. There just needs to be a receipt but you need proof that it was bought from the Toyota Dealership in Nigeria
Touch and go oh. You could be extremely lucky or not... 😂 More often than not, especially if it is a status vehicle, you're good. But if it is a daily runaround vehicle, run oh!!!
Look at the front licence plate. A crooked licence plate will tell you the former owner was fond of hitting other vehicles or whatever they failed to stop for.
Always go with your mechanic too 😂 and also don’t forget to change tires

MAKES A LOT OF SENSE!
It’s complicated o
Emma Adams i guess you talking about deformed chasis (serious wreck) for me the best way to find out is to follow the car from behind while in motion.
Show me the owner of the car and I will tell you what the car has gone through 😂

Nice one bro, my off point on Nigerian used cars is permanent fan, it's very common due to inexperience of Nigerian mechanics
I love how you explained these signs😂
Frank is the funniest when explaining stuff 😂

If you see "nothing to fix absolute buy and drive" run!!!
Because there's absolutely a lot to fix.
Wow! But most Nigerian car sellers say this a lot
How do I go about buying a car now?
This complicates issues.
Get a competent mechanic to go with you for inspection, and never be in a rush to buy a used car, take your time to inspect
Thanks Crank.
When are you going to review the Honda CRV, particularly 2005-2013.
