You are really a TEACHER of SAMBA sharing. 3 weeks now, I am trying with samba sharing to guest login from a W10 and a Ubuntu 15.10 to a samba sharing on a Ubuntu 22.10. So, scenario is: Ubuntu 22.04 samba sharing folder , W10 or Ubuntu 15.10 guest/anonymous login to Ubuntu 22.04 folder, with no luck. Thanks.

Would you be able to extend your tutorial to add details on how to share an external hard-disk attached to machine running UBUNTU? I'm able to create the users and being able to share the folders created on the hard disk; but unable to do so on an external hard-disk attached via USB.
I appreciate your help. Your tutorial is very helpful indeed.

Isn't it insecure to store the samba password in plaintext in the example file creds.txt? Is it possible to pass the username only, and force password entry on access, perhaps, or otherwise to encrypt the password or use an identity file?

you can use chmod 700 so that it requires root access but not sure how to actually encrypt it
