I continued to fail the network connection through samba and reffered several youtuber's videos but no success. Your instruction made it success finally. Thank you so much !!!
This video really helped me out tremendously! Now I'm able to access my desktop from my laptop! This is too awesome! Can't thank you enough! Thank you!
I've set up samba on ubuntu server several dozens of times and still I never ever remember how to do it and then something just doesn't work and Windows refuses to update and seem to use some cache and I need to reinstall the entire server because some fool had a tutorial which made me edit /etc/network/interfaces and some iptables I don't even know. This is the very first time it worked immediately. Great video! Hope I find it again when I for some reason need to do it again in a year and have forgotten how to :D
How can I share my external drive? I follow your tutorial, thank you. I was able to experiment to share a folder. But I could not figure out how to share external drive or files within the external drive. Most likely I do not understand the path to my external drive. /media/user/external. not sure what the path should be. I would love to get your helpl, thanks.
Amazing video man! thanks for your effors! just courious, what if I wanna add more tha one user? should I create a group and then add both users to that group and give permissions to the group?
when i try to access my samba folder from windows 10, a popup allways appears with the message "your user or password incorrect" please help me for solved this issue
I may be the very first person who could not access the shared folder. I followed each and every step shown here but was unable to access it from my Mac. Any help would be highly appreciated. The exact issue that I am facing is, I can access the shared folder from a different server(linux) using smbclient but not from my local Mac or Windows.😭
Wow just looking at the time stamp 19 minutes to share a folder/drive vs windows right click share -> specific users or everyone… 8 seconds vs 20 mins … I wonder why developers do this kind of studf while this is a very used feature…
This was an amazing and easily digestible tutorial.
Very rare occasion on TH-cam!
Thank you so much!
I love your way to remember Windows uses backslashes since they are always moving backward :) You're a great teacher!!

Master the basics of permissions and ACLs first.
Can do without the annoying background music.
That music is great.
