They named him after a man of the cloth, called him Amos Moses. Jerry wrote this song. Singer, songwriter, great guitarist and actor as well as a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
You guys are fun. I'm from New York. I see people get chesty because they're from New York. I've always thought, bring that attitude to Louisiana and the Cajuns.😂 OH yeah, I'm familiar with Jerry Reed since my early days in the 70's.
I remember when this song came out in 1970 or 1971 and listening to it LOL!!! YOU GUYS represent both of the best examples of the reaction to it I have seen. EITHER you say " What the hell..." like the gentleman on the left ( confusion) or you just fall out laughing and can't keep a straight face ... like the gent on the right !!! LOL!! 😕😆🤣Thanks for the video guys ...It was FANTASTIC !!!
Yezzz indeed Dyce! This cat was always cool a great guitarist!❤❤❤❤ . Excellent. Check out his song LORD Mr. Ford. Hilarious. Keep them coming man. This came out when I was young. Late sixties or early seventies. ❤❤👍👍🤘🤘
This is the best reaction to this song on TH-cam hahaha. “Well I wonder where that Louisiana sheriff went too?” “WHAT!? What the hell am I listening to !” Hahaha
I think the lovely Jerry Reed is singing a story. About a bad ass man, Amos Moses. Likely not true - but the song is based on something, and the truth was likely worse. Not sure about much here, but it aint me goin out in any Lousiana swamp. Ever.
Big shout out to Rockstar Games for turning me on to this track. The laughs are worth it. I must have listened to it a few times before it got stuck in my brain and i had to figure it out. Gon' gitcha, Amos!😂😂😂😂
He was a doctor, they named him after a man of the cloth, named him Amos Moses! You must listen Dyce! I loved your reaction and Aces' reaction especially! I've seen him react many times before though so I know what to expect from him, this is only my second time being here with you!
First, he was not a "man of the cloth". He was NAMED after a man of the cloth. As for the sheriff; it is possible Amos killed him, but not necessarily so. It is extremely easy to get lost is a Louisiana Bayou if you do not know your way around or have a guide. It is possible Amos just kept leading him deeper in until he just abandoned him. BUT IT'S JUST A SONG - NOT A DOCUMENTARY.

Alligators were endangered for good from the 50s to the 80s

From the late 60's early 70's when 'gators were protected. Great for line dancing. The sheriff became gator bait. Try When Your Hot You're Hot.
Jerry Reed was great
The sheriff became alligator bait!
You two are having wayyy too much fun...

The father named him after a 'Man of the Cloth' Amos Moses!
Your reaction to this is fantastic.
You guys just made my day! 😂
Everybody loves Jerry Reed, he is a 1 of a kind, he did not act in Smoky and the Bandit, he just played himself.

Great reaction guys!!!👍👍🤘🤘
Jerry Reed wrote and sang it. He was from Georgia (not Louisiana) so it's not a true story!
I had this record when it came out as I danced to this in my dance recital I had the 45
Anybody wanna be an outlaw country singer with me? Lol
This was such a great reaction!
Y'all had my 83 year old mama crying with laughter!
This song was a big hit on the country music charts and also hit the pop charts back in 1970.
This the best reaction to this song. One guy knows the song, the other doesn’t. One of the best reaction videos ever…
Big shout out to Rockstar Games for turning me on to this track. The laughs are worth it.

Perfect! ✌️
This song is insane. I've loved it since 1970!
Dear Lord
Was a little girl when this hit the radio. Cracked me up then...and now 😅
Jerry was also quite the comedian. He had a great sense of humor.
Left arm gone clean up to the elbow.
Amos got the sheriff too. 🙃
When Amos Moses was a boy his Daddy would use him for alligator bait.
The one dude took the lyrics way too literal ( it was just song not a documentary )

It came out in 1971. No, He was named after a man of the cloth.
This is really a good song love it😅😅
Well you can sure get lost in the Louisiana bayou.
Amos was running moonshine liquor and hunting aligators which was illegal there at that time probably still is.
Gators are still protected. There is a season in Louisiana but only a certain amount can be pew pewed per year depending on the population.
Alligator bait in the Louisiana bayou.
Comedy !
It ain't legal huntin' alligator down in the swamp, boy.
