Michael Winslow is the GOAT. He needs to be hired for every sound effect whether it's the small or the big screen. He is a national treasure. That guy who grabs the guns is the same guy who appears in X-Men film back in 2000 and the alternate ending of X-Men: The Last Stand when Wolverine goes back to the same bar to get his drink.

Jesus, I totally forgot there was seven of these things. Yes they started to get oddly silly towards the end, but it was still lighthearted and still wanted to have fun with the series.
All the Police Academy movies were filmed in and around Toronto. I used to live not too far from The Blue Oyster Bar {actual name Silver Dollar Room} and when passing by there I would hum El Bimbo {the "theme" song when they enter}. Another raunchy comedy series worth checking out are the Porky's movies.
Bubba Smith (Hightower) played Defensive End in the NFL. He was the 1st pick overall in the 1967 NFL draft, and selected by the Baltimore Colts. He played in two Super Bowls (III & V), winning Super Bowl V. He was also a two time NFL Pro Bowler, and selected All-Pro twice. Smith also attended Michigan State. where he is a 2x All-American, and part of the 1965 National Championship team.
The Blue Oyster is iconic. I was about 10 years old when I watched this the first time. Everyone in my class watched it and man, the teacher must have been so tired of us, hearing us citing and mimic the characters all day long. Move it, move it, move it!

6 movies made it to theater 1 straight to VHS or DVD. A short lived tv show with guest appearances from the original cast, and a short lived cartoon with a toy line.
@26:25-26:46 That scene is so simplistic, and yet gets most reactors and myself. You guys should keep that laughter and put it in a compilation of all the times you both got got with a funny bit.
I wish they had brought back Kim Cattrall for the sequel which was kind of disappointing. David Graf as Tackleberry just hilarious. I was sad when I heard he passed away back in 2001. I also remember when he played Brink's onscreen dad in the Disney channel original film Brink.
David Graf as Tackleberry is hilarious. He gets his moment to shine in later movies, he was really under-utilised in this one. Fun fact: Scott Thomson ‘grew up’ and played Preacher in Twister. I’d never seen him in anything else and barely recognised him in Twister - it wasn’t until Greg and Roxy reacted to it that I looked up all the cast and realised where I knew him from 😂 some of the biggest stars of the 80’s and 90’s were in this. I own all of these on DVD, they were a huge part of my childhood because my dad loves them. But they get steadily worse after 4.
Man these movies remind me of being a kid so much. They were on tv literally all the time in the 90’s. They all just blend together. This one was on just the other day.
G.W. Bailey played Harris. He played a very similar role in Mannequin, which also had Kim Catrall in it. He had that character ready to pull out of his pocket at any time.
I like him as an actor, he was also on 2 of my favorite series. The Closer and Major Crime. Major Crime is a continuation of The Closer it just has a different female lead.
Tackleberry didn't duck because he knew that Barbera hadn't re-racked the shotgun. Thus, the shell in the chamber was spent. Also, yes, Michael Winslow (Jones) is the radar operator in Spaceballs. He was doing special effects as a stand-up routine and got approached to be in the movie. The character of Jones was written specifically for him. Actually, it's established in the sequels that the Lassard is just a horrible driver. Also, he's not quite as clueless as he pretends to be. The actress who played Hooks has said that she based her performance on Michael Jackson. The Unnamed Antagonist that takes the guns (Credited in the third movie as "Axe Murderer", and is the leader of a gang, which includes the character's mother, and is again caught by Hooks) is played by Doug Lennox.
One of the greatest comedies ever! Came out in 1984. A golden year in cinema. My sister and I watched this whole series growing up. I don't even think we got half the jokes. The cast travels throughout the series but some leave and then come back. GW Bailey recently starred on drama series The Closer and Major Crimes as Lt. Provenza. He was amazing and honestly deserved an Emmy for it. We use so many references from this movie. If one of us misses out on something, we say we feel like Tackleberry. Or if we are trying to find a parking space, my sister will say she wishes she can Mahoney it. Also confession... I saw this again a couple of years ago and just realized what the lady was doing in the podium. I guess when I first saw it on VHS I was just a kid like 8 and thought they were just hiding. Then I guess on TV they may have it edited it differently.. You see something new every time. The sequels have their moments but I don't think any top this.

I hope you'll watch them all. They are crazy, but their forged friendships and respect are brilliant as the series goes on. Harris is such a brilliant antagonist.
The Lt. is played by a wonderful character actor who has done so much work, but my favorite is an 80s Whoopi Goldberg movie called Burglar. Totally think you'll love it
They can't get away with making a movie like this anymore. This was back when comedy was actually comedy. I love that Michael Winslow did all of his own sounds and got to show his talent. Great reaction! 🤙👍
I’m 23 but grew up with these movies cuz of my dad. And now I can’t wait to watch y’all 2 together bcuz y’all crack me up. Feel like I haven’t seen an Aaron reaction in a while ❤❤
Fridge Brilliance: The scene at the range where Barbara swung the 12ga and everyone ducked except Tackleberry, the reason why he didn't duck was because after Barbara fired, he didn't rack the slide, which would eject the spent shell and load a new one. Because of his knowledge of firearms, Tackleberry knew he was perfectly safe.
Wow- you immediately made the connection to the Hot Fuzz jumping-the-fence scene, that Edgar Wright has admitted was what he wanted to recreate when making the movie.
38:57 Hancock The big guy is Bubba Smith. He was a phenom in college and probably would have been in the pros but the NFL blew out his knee. He is the reason we have two people who hold the chains and drop them whenever players get close to the sidelines. Prior to that, the were stacked into the ground. Long story short, Smith, on a play along the sidelines, tripped and got tangled in the chains and tore up his knee. He was never the same....
@3:34 -- one of the actors credited is "Georgina Spelvin." This is an old tradition: when an actor in a film doesn't want to claim the credit for a role, he/she will be listed in the credits as George/Georgina Spelvin.
We used get kick ass military commercials Saturday morning with our cartoons and weekdays during GI Joe. The Marines and Army had by far the best commercials
Re-Casting Couch: Mahoney: Joe Keery Hightower: Batista Takleberry: Alan Richson but playing it as Thad Castle Callahan: Gwendoline Christie Lt. Harris: Danny McBride Lassard: Bill Murray
As a kid Tackleberry (David Graf) was always my favorite. Died way too early at age 51 by a heart attack. I have fond memories of this franchise. The 5th part is still a guilty pleasure of mine. But the 7th and last was just utterly bad (with Ron Perlman even...)
My cousin is a cop. When he was in our version of the police academy (here in Ontario), they'd get in trouble (but not really) because during marching they'd whistle or hum the theme to this movie. This was like 2000, so the movie was already old, but we all knew this song... and the Blue Oyster song. (A recurring joke in these films that did NOT age well at all.) We grew up watching this movie. I think I was 7 the first time I saw it. (80s kids. This was on tv all the time)
Yes Hightower AKA Bubba Smith was a football player also starred in the TV abductation of Blue Thunder along with Dick Butkus and believe it was before this movie
I love absolutely every Police Academy movie, even number 7. I had the original 4 on VHS and watched them to death, any time it is on TV, or someone reacts to it, I make sure to watch. I really hope you at least do up to number 4! :)
The 80's line crosser that couldn't be made, or reacted to without apologies, today is Porky's. Movie also features a young Kim Cattrall in a scene it took decades to escape. I think she still hates/regrets doing that movie.
29:48 "Is The Big Dude One Of Those Guys Who Was A Linebacker Who Then Went To Acting?" He is indeed. Bubba Smith was a linebacker for the Buffalo Bills in the 70's

Feel like I haven’t seen an Aaron reaction in a while ❤❤
Love seeing Toronto in the early 80s - it was so clean
John: "I'm just practicing for management, sir!"
DUDE!!!
Michael Winslow was once asked if he thought robin Williams did better voices than him, he said masters don't compete. Boom Mic drop
It was so sad that Michael Winslow and Robin Williams didn't made a movie together. Itwould gad been good movie.
The actor playing the Main Bad Guy also played the Bartender that kicked Logan out of the Bar. in the first X-Men movie.
That was him as the bartender in X-Men??
I didn't realize that
Thank you for watching these and glad you enjoyed. Memories for sure with this one popping in that VHS tape 😅
Wow- you immediately made the connection to the Hot Fuzz jumping-the-fence scene, that Edgar Wright has admitted was what he wanted to recreate when making the movie.
38:57 Hancock
The big guy is Bubba Smith.
30:34 see tackleberry knows his guns. He didn't duck because he knew the chamber wasn't loaded.
Re-Casting Couch:
Mahoney: Joe Keery
Hightower: Batista
Takleberry: Alan Richson but playing it as Thad Castle
Callahan: Gwendoline Christie
Lt. Harris: Danny McBride
Lassard: Bill Murray
As a kid Tackleberry (David Graf) was always my favorite. Died way too early at age 51 by a heart attack. I have fond memories of this franchise. The 5th part is still a guilty pleasure of mine. But the 7th and last was just utterly bad (with Ron Perlman even...)
The 7th (the Russia one) is the only one I haven't finished watching.
This movie feels like a blueprint for 90% of modern comedy.
I'm gonna need you two to see The Last Starfighter
My cousin is a cop. When he was in our version of the police academy (here in Ontario), they'd get in trouble (but not really) because during marching they'd whistle or hum the theme to this movie. This was like 2000, so the movie was already old, but we all knew this song... and the Blue Oyster song. (A recurring joke in these films that did NOT age well at all.) We grew up watching this movie. I think I was 7 the first time I saw it. (80s kids. This was on tv all the time)
ah Michael Winslow, man of many sounds. I love him

"Was He In 'Spaceballs'?"
Yup, he absolutely was in Spaceballs
Yes Hightower AKA Bubba Smith was a football player also starred in the TV
abductation of Blue Thunder along with Dick Butkus and believe it was before this movie

"Is The Big Dude One Of Those Guys Who Was A Linebacker Who Then Went To Acting?"
He is indeed.
Bubba Smith was a linebacker for the Buffalo Bills in the 70's
Bubba Smith from the Chicago's Bears and of course their hit song The Superbowl Shuffle
Bubba played for the Packers 😂
@@jimtatro6550 this whole time I thought he was with the bears. My mistake
@@jimtatro6550 Didn't play for them either. :). He played for the Colts (when they were a Baltimore team), Raiders, and Oilers. I believe in that order.
