- As part of pedal package #1 I picked up this BOSS TURBO Distortion. A classic in its own right being the tricked out version of the BOSS DS-1. This is a typical hard clipping distortion with an added circuit (TURBO) that gives a mid boosted lead sound.
I am using my Parente T-Type into the pedal into my Frenzal and Lopoline Cab HBX-AC15 mic with SM58s.

Yeah not trying to play it accurately just the idea, I prefer the tone of the thicker wrapped string in power chords so often I go up the neck instead of change strings.
I have this one and I love it a lot. It works great with both single coils and humbuckers. : )

I see your tone knob is on 3. Turn it to 10 matey, and then see if you get those Nirvana tones!
Tone knob is full nearly always, its just where the screws are on those knobs. Would get closer to the actual nirvana tones with a hum jag and mesa preamp.
You start off with settings almost identical to how I set it up now (don’t think you ever test the pedal with these). Most people will say don’t go over 12 o clock on the tone knob, but I disagree. It’s still a bit too dark there, for my taste. I think my tone is at about 2 o clock. Gain at around 3 o clock seems just right. Still fairly clear, and crunchy enough for classic/grunge/punk rock. Great minds think alike. Good job.
May sound strange, but I use it like a fuzz. Turn the distortion all the way up and the tone nearly maxed too, I adjust the level as it slightly boosts my overall tone.
As primarily a Tele player myself I find this a very interesting demo. ...
I am looking for it to do some different things (other than grunge sounds) myself. Unlike the stock DS1 which seems to compress the lows and highs too much to my liking this "improved DS1" seems to leave the lows and highs relatively intact. I know this pedal get criticism for making humbucking guitars "flubby" in the low end - therefore making me think this pedal is better suited to single coil guitars (maybe even vintage pafs with a lower output and more top end presence and tigher lows). Could be the ideal pedal I looking for with Teles which is a less compressed DS1 that can do a tubescreamer mid boost type thing in alternate mide (while still keeping the lows/highs fairly intact).
Do you agree with my assessment?
I have a sansamp RK5 with the OMG Kotzen OD/Distortion which meets what I am going for (with a Marshall type voicing into the Blackface style Sansamp of that unit) but is locked into the signal path of the RK5. I am looking to the same sort of thing into Sansamp Fuzzy Brit (plexi style preamp). The Fuzzy Brit doesn't need the Marshall voicing cause it already has it.
Really wanting a solid full range distortion that can do the mid boost thing on command (for light to heavy texas blues/bluesbreaker style OD that doesn't box in the tele like an Ibanez Tubescreamer dies) and this seems like it could be it????
Not looking for BD2 fuzzy type OD either. I personally think that pedal is more aimed at LP style guitars and is great for that...
Thoughts from others with experience with this pedal and a Tele into plexi style amps would be appreciated.

If you look up While My Guitar Gently Weeps with Prince, he kicks on a ds2 into I believe a Marshall. There's also some flange at some point and it all just sounds ridiculously good together

What's your signal chain? Are you playing just the ds2 alone? No boost or whatsoever?
Yeah its just the tele into DS-2 into my Frenzal HBXAC15 which is like a matchless hotbox/ac15 with a bit of marshall influence and miced cab.
I just got my ds2 today and it is freaking awesome!! Your demo convinced me further to get one. Thanks man!

I started learning guitar pretty much 4-5 months ago and I just bought the same pedal but the sound is very electricy . Can the problem be from the amp or I just have to play with the settings?
What guitar and amp are you using? It can be a bit fizzy with trebly thin amps. You can try bringing the gain down and tone down a bit and try the two modes

I didn't but wish I did, it doesn't always work but for certain sound with certain gear it has a sound. I am using my valeton ds10 to get me that boss distortion style sound.

You're right, youtubers content bots are very dumb, and they flag people for playing 5 second segments of songs on a guitar, which is why a lot of channels play things wrong or play things similar sounding but legally distinct enough to get past the bots

Put it into a dirty amp and you get some sweet sounds.
