Is the Murder of 4 Idaho Students Becoming a Cold Case?

  • JonBenet Ramsey's father is comparing his daughter's murder with the slaying of the four University of Idaho students. It's been nearly six weeks since the four Idaho college students were brutally murdered in their home. This year also marks the 26th anniversary of the unsolved murder of little JonBenet Ramsey. Her father fears history will repeat itself if they do not get experienced detectives on the case.

its been less than two months. investigations take time. we dont always see investigations happening step by step, so it seems dragged out and its especially torturous for the families. but no, this is not a "cold case"

Appreciate the positivity, but the reality is if it's not solved in the matter of a few days / weeks, it usually goes cold and becomes significantly harder to solve.

Back in in 90s I was the lead investigator for murders in the Cincinnati area. Typically speaking i would solve a murder in less than 2 weeks. You get most the information in the first 2 days. You don't speak to the public about what's going on. It takes years of experience and hard drug abuse to get to the level im at. I was best at my job when I would frequent the Asian massage parlors and get a rub and tug. I miss those days. I claimed a lot of overtime while getting massages.

JonBenét Ramsey’s not really a cold case though, her brother killed her in a fit of rage; it wasn’t even the first time Burke had violently attacked her with a blow to the head. The parents then tried to stage a botched kidnapping/murder scene to protect their son (and their own reputations,) and then refused to cooperate with police once it immediately began falling apart.
Even though Burke was under the age of prosecution, the parents didn’t want the public to know that Burke was in therapy for severe asocial behavior and anger issues, that he had attacked his sister out of jealousy before, and that JonBenét had begun exhibiting behavior consistent with children who’ve been the victims of s*xual assault, shortly after a housekeeper reported having accidentally walked in on Burke “playing doctor” on his sister.

With the gruesomness of such crime scene there is no one 1 killer would be that on point at not leaving at least one tiny trace of evidence. 4 murders. That's a lot of screaming. That's a lot of noise. Maybe even more than 1 killer. Because to kill 4 people..., it had to be well planned, well executed, seasoned. You could leave behind even a fiber, a hair, a foot print etc. With all that action.
