      People got back on:
      - DC-10's after American Airlines' maintenance failures killed 273 people on Flight AAL191 in 1979 and for more than a decade after UAL232.
      - MD-80's after Alaska's maintenance failures killed 88 people on ASA261 in 2000.
      - Q400's after repeated landing gear collapses.
      - A330s after AFR447 killed 228 passengers and crew.
      - MD-11's after Swissair Flight 111 crashed in 1998.
      - 737's after a design flaw resulted in jammed rudders on three separate occasions.
      People who argue that 737 Max crashes will make material numbers of passengers avoid the type, people who say they will never fly on a 737 Max, or people who think that it's a good idea for Boeing to just "scrap the Max" do not know about, deliberately ignore, or (especially in the case of the media nowadays) willfully misrepresent flight incident histories.

    • @LOLmusics
      @LOLmusics 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      El_Ectric all good points. But I just can’t get over the fact that Boeing didn’t inform their pilots about mcas. Until after the first crash.That’s crazy!

    • @electric7487
      @electric7487 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@LOLmusics That, and the undoubtedly-stupid decision of allowing the MCAS to rely on only one sensor.
      I just really hope Boeing get their act together after this and that the 737 Max gets back up and flying.
      What the media don't tell you is that the 737 Max will almost surely become one of the safest planes in the sky after it returns to service, because it will be one of the most heavily-scrutinised planes in all of aviation.

    • @LOLmusics
      @LOLmusics 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      El_Ectric yup that’s true. And going back to your point about the different plane crashes, I remember flying on Dc-10s and 737s when I was younger and everything was fine 😂

    • @LOLmusics
      @LOLmusics 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      El_Ectric just thought about another incident that happened with a 767. The thrust reverser deployed in fight and everyone unfortunately died. After that the problem was corrected and the plane never had that type of accident again. And it has become one of my favorite planes next to the L-1011.

      Don't tell me you travelled UNITED. I had a similar bad run from Melbourne Australia to San Francisco via Los Angeles and guess what. A small meal was served within half an hour o take off, and that was it mate. A 22 and a half hour flight with no tucker was a bit much. They never announced that a meal could be purchased from the cart. There was absolutely "sweet fanny adams" to eat and we had to ask for water or a drink. The same occurred on the return flight. One skungy meal and that was all you get. I have given United a BIG MISS ever since.

Now they want to put you on an Airbus 318 or a 737 hell no. If it's not a wide body aircraft that's taking me across the Atlantic, I'm not going.

      Ghost Killzzz it’s not a Boeing design it was first put on the A320 years ago to prevent a stall or high AOA. Plus it’s in all airlines from dash 8s to A380s. So Boeing is not at its fault for the system since they just took the design from any Other jet. The airline is at the responsibility for maintaining its fleet. That’s how it is. And it’s also wierd that 2 of the crashes came out of third world countries that don’t have heavy protection and regulations for aviation. This whole thing is put on being because the airline is like trying to hide the fact they missed a fault an never gotten to fix it. Idc if it was proven by the ntsb that it was a faulty design. It’s been around for ages and is fixable by disconnecting the electric trim. The whole crash could have been avoided if they fixed the runaway trim. It’s in every aircraft with it. And the crash goes under the category of a runaway trim from a fault in the computer. And even a matience pilot went up in the max after the crash and seen the same issue. And all he did to stop it was disengage the Electric trim. It was poor execution on the pilots side for not trying to immediately figure out what’s wrong.

      Messages reveal a top Boeing pilot knew about problems with the 737 Max's 'egregious' behavior before 2 deadly crashes
      Boeing 737 Max airplanes parked on Boeing property in Washington in September. The planes have not been delivered to airlines yet as they remain grounded after two fatal crashes. David Ryder/Getty Images
      Boeing's chief technical pilot on the 737 Max project told another employee in 2016 that there were "egregious" problems with the jet's automated anti-stall system, MCAS.
      The pilot, Mark Forkner, made those observations at least two years before the first of two deadly crashes involving the 737 Max, in October 2018 and March 2019.
      Boeing said it found the internal instant messages sent by Forkner "some months ago,"
      And even leaving the MCAS system alone there are dozens of now obvious flaws with the plane
      A guy from boeing said that the plane was made by money hungry fools
      Overall boeing has got a complete beating and has ruined its reputation for ever and all deaths on the plane was directly beoings fault and dont those pilots didnt recieve the knowledge that mcas even existed on the plane let alone how to work with it boeing was selfish and momey hungry as they didnt want it to be a new type rating for the pilots as that would "cost them" this is an accurate representation of when people are just to momey hungry

In actuality Green airport (what locals call it) is located in Warwick, RI not Providence, they gave it the call sign PVD because our state is so small and the Capital is PVD. I was also surprised you said the Edinborough route was taken off the list because that was first city that Norwegian flew to from PVD and was their gateway to Europe from this airport. Great job on your travel videos and thanks for the nice things said about RI.

      @@clorbach2450 I like those thin style Norwegian seats like those also found on Thomas Cook and Lufthansa Cityline. On Air Canada Max 8's you get these upside down Y shaped ergo seats that make you peer into the row ahead or behind but... you get both wifi and the latest IFE on both domestic and International flights. My four hour Air Canada Max flight last year was very comfortable and quiet. If they ever get flying again both Halifax and St. John's will continue to use them to fly transatlantic to Heathrow in 5.5 and 4.5 hours respectively.

      A norm here in the US....flights from Los Angeles to Hartford, Washington, New York, Boston and the Carolinas...all 6 hour flights on narrowbody aircraft. • @leobuckman7316
      @leobuckman7316 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Planes for life I believe you are mistaken. The A320’s initial crashes were not due to the plane itself, investigators found. "no malfunction of the aircraft or its equipment which could have contributed towards a reduction in safety or an increase in the crew's workload during the final flight phase ... the response of the engines was normal and in compliance with certification requirement." The 737 MAX on the other hand was entirely due to the aircraft and was very hard to manually correct. The A320 has 0.12 hull losses per million flights compared to the MAX’s 4.0 per million flights(33x more likely).

    • @aviatorsplanet8219
      @aviatorsplanet8219 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leobuckman7316 Well
      1) The a320 had, in its baby times a few accidents because of the engines arent reakting to the thrust leavers
      2) You cant compare it like this if the plane is new and the other one old... Thus comparing would just be right if it just were the 2 first years of both planes...
      Best wishes

    Paul, you're a braver man than I. Your camera shots of the the 737 interior made me cringe just at the thought of being trapped in that torture chamber for 6+ hours. I have never liked the 737 in coach, with its narrow seats and single aisle, and don't generally book on any flights much over an hour on one, and then only as a last resort.
    Four years ago, I flew through Shanghai and connected to a Shanghai Air (Owned by China Eastern) B737-800, for a trip down to Bangkok. The flight was 4+38 hours, power-up to touchdown, and it was miserable. Those airplanes are simply not ergonomically suitable for long flights. Even my wife, slim and lithe, upon arrival said, "never again". It was nothing that Shanghai Airlines did wrong, it was just the aircraft's poor accommodations.
    And before I hear, "it's up to the airlines as to the seats and comfort", well, the industry-standard on all 737's in coach is 6-across, and in that configuration, ALL seats are narrow because you can't fit 10 pounds of crap in a 5-pound bag.
    I will hand Norwegian Airlines one kudos -- that meal looked really good. As you said, it was "legacy-quality".

My first thought when I saw the video title was “oh god no”, but then I remembered I spent at least 4.5 hours on an A320 coming back from Eastern Europe and didn’t mind it as much as I thought I would. It was a perfectly clear night over Europe so I just counted away the hours city spotting from the window. As a person who has never even experienced a widebody a plane is a plane and if it gets me there comfortably who am I to grumble. That said, I am going on a widebody in March, a 747, and I’ve booked the upper deck which has narrow body dimensions anyway, ha!

That and the fact that virgin aren’t as cheap as BA means we paid more or less double what we could have to get across the Atlantic, but since it’s probably the one and only chance I’ll ever get to fly a 747 I made it happen.
