- In this video I respond to your questions and comments from my previous videos on the Population Scanner for TheHunter: Call of the wild.
Population scanner is a piece of software written by Ramalamadingdong7 which helps you identify your population count of each individual species and gives you a guide on their potential trophy rating. There are a few points that are not correct:
The fur type rarity is only the global probability that a certain type spawns.
The colored need zone circles are actually the discovered need zones of the selected species.
The species icons on the map show the currently active discovered need zones (in relation to the current game time).
The scanner does show a GO in your pop files.

I just got the scanner and got it to work yesterday. I then went through my maps in the scanner to see what I was working with and when I went into Rancho it says there is possibly a Great One and Good luck! I then went through my whitetail herds and found it labeled X Fabled and has its massive weight and score next to it like the other animals are listed. I went through all of the drink zones to try to find it and havent had any luck yet. Thought id share since you mentioned it didn't show them. if you would like to show for content id happily share.

I have the same problem now. X-fabled in scanner, but it's nowhere to be found. Found it?
After the update I cant reset my maps anymore it brings the old map back all the time.
I went to properties and turned the boxes on and off again and nothing.
Has EW done something to stop us from resetting maps?! A cache or something we also need to delete now.
My friend tried to use this with Windows 11 but it seems as if the program can't locate his map files. We've tried locating them manually aswell but it just doesn't recognise the files
It's a very useful tool i always wanted. It's easy to count dead animals. Just be aware, it's not accurate always.
Example: Shows that i had one 9-legendary red deer on the map with score 254 and one gold with score 249. Turns out the first one was 257 and the second 253 at the end. So, two diamonds.

when I try to scan the maps it says I couldn't scan file. I can't find out why it does this I need some help thanks
I’ve successfully gotten it to open, but when it does it only allows me to select reserves.
It doesn’t have the save info either, just 3 “c:”s. Aswell as the only files being “data” and “license”.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this my PCs fault? I’ve spent a few hours now trying to figure it out.
One question, if it shows me pink stars and scroll down it shows like i have a caribou albino but not other rares, does that mean that the only rare caribou i have on the map is the albino one?
Does the Re-population tab mean anything? I see a list of Deer I Killed, As I kill more a few come out of there and get RNGed into new ones. Is there any reason to actually pay attention to it? Just there for fun? I noticed the map tends to keep the same number of males and females on it and tends to spawn a few in. The repopulation # just keeps going up so Its made me curious if there's more to it?
question i have is the scanner is showing a great one on map. Has it allready spawned in on map or do i still need to kill set amount or random amount of kill for it to spawn in.
If it's counted in the scanner, it's on the map. Keep in mind, the scanner works off the same stats you see when you spot an animal, so there are still trolls.

Hello I have see a video when sometimes 2 animals spawn for one kill. Maybe they have change de spaw' system no?
Anything is possible, the game is always updating and the respawns are an RNG
my friend had a problem that it did not see the "animal_population_?" is that bc he is offline (which he is not) or what could be the reason he does own the map and has played it
More than likely they haven't loaded into that map for the animals to populate. The scanner works in offline mode.

What an amazing app! I don’t even play without it anymore, and using it has not reduced my enjoyment to the slightest--maybe the opposite!
I think it works perfectly and I'd wish nothing changed. I don't even care that it's sometimes off on non TruRack/fur type calculations, as this only adds some suspense for me.
I just wish it told me where that blasted lvl4 piebald moose in on Finland, if only for this once! I've looked for him for 26hours real time and just can't get him... 😅

Hello WFX_Malice, I have been experiencing some extreme frustration on Rancho Del Arroyo, as the tool indicates that there is a Great One on my map, which I am unable to find. I have found and hunted about 30 drinking zones, taking care not to destroy any of them, got onto multiplayer and let other players help me search. This has been going on for 2 weeks now. Is there any way the tool can be inaccruate in finding great ones? I mean from your notes, the weight of the animal should be correct and it is stated as being a 106kg Whitetail. Surely that has to be a Great One?

Nope, gave up after using a plitch trainer to put all animals in 1 spot and great one wasn't there. Quit the game after that.
my icons dont show
really late comment but how do you do it on Xbox application on pc, if u don't know there's a Xbox game pass application and i use it to get a lot of free games on PC but i doesn't work and i don't wanna spend the money on steam and have my data restart.
I have harvested countless whitetail on my miss acres, when I check my population it hasn’t changed any. Is there a way for me to refresh my files? Or should the program do that automatically?

Every time I try to use the population scanner it says “couldn’t scan files!”, Im having trouble with the avalanche folder being located in documents folder under quick access instead of the %user% folder in my c: drive. I’ve manually moved it over however, it duplicates its self and continues to read the old folder. I’m not sure what to do, help would be appreciated.
Right-click on your Documents folder in the windows file explorer. Select 'Properties'. Check the 'Location:' entry. This is the true location of the folder. Navigate there inside the scanner.

When opening the file, I follwoed your next steps, User>My Name>Documents..... the problem is, my "documents" section is empty

No bans, it's not a hack, it's just a stat checker
I reckon they massively nerfed the diamond count. I get between 0 and 5. Trust me I've sat there and reset the file 50 times trying to get a good RNG.
it can be painful at times, other times you get lucky.

@@MadAboutTutorials under files i guess? its in a named filed along other games but it shoudl stil lshow up as some error in the scanner
My time isnt the same on the app as in the game
here is something weird i came across lastnight. i havent hunted any brown bear on revontuli, but i came across a female lastnight that was basicly in my way and i shot it, well i know the game respawns male male female female etc why did it respawn a female and a male?. i can send you the log if you need and i only hunt whitetail n ducks on this map
for whatever reason whenever i load the scanner, it loads the population but then it says "failed to load playerinfo.inf and says cannot load need zones"
ALSO a bigger problem i cant get it to live detect my animals
These problems always occur after a major update, need to wait till the dev updates the population scanner and get the latest version. Thanks for watching.
@@MadAboutTutorials nevermind i fixed it btw i didnt copy the un zipped files on the same level as population. also, i went through about 40,000 whitetail males this way and no great one, saw someone on reddit do the same and i think the devs made it to where they cant spawn as an initial spawn anymore. i got rid of the tool now that i know this because if im gonna have to grind like normal to replace my bugged great one i might as well do it without the scanner
i need help please whenever i load my save game and population it says last modified 788 days ago and i deleted my pops and still does it
it's looking at an old save, probs a backup made by the game when it did a major update. go in to the directory where your saves are and look for a newer folder
