    Awesome comparison! Basically comes down to tangible vs. intangible, numbers vs. tech. I tend to lean to towards performance numbers and am partial to Ram. However, both great trucks!

      @@Blue_Flame_Raptor u comment the stupidest shit on here. Your raptor is no more off-road oriented than the trx. You don’t have to try to save face on TH-cam and make yourself feel better about making a stupid purchase on an extremely overpriced vehicle because an even more overpriced vehicle that makes more power and is a better vehicle overall than yours came out.

      @@ryancoates872 so why isn’t there a off road comparison?

      @@Blue_Flame_Raptor If it focuses on street performance, then why does it have 35 inch all terrains? Or a rear locker? What about long travel suspension? Full time AWD? Front limited slip? An optional bed mounted spare tire? Optional beadlocks? What about the fact that it has about the same approach and departure angles as the raptor? Or the same ground clearance? Yeah, definitely a street truck.

      This was a very, very objective comparison, neither truck is going to disappoint. Just me, I'd go with the Raptor, the EB engines have scary power on tap at all times, that the TRX has more doesn't diminish that. For me the MPG difference is a big factor, not just that you're putting more money into the tank, but also you're having to fill-up more, trips must be planned based on having to fuel up. I have a non-Raptor with the 3.5 EB, it has an effective range of 600-700 miles on a single tank (36 gal). The biggest tank an TRX comes with is 33 gal, for the Raptor it's 36 gal, that gives the TRX (11 mpg avg) an effective range of ~300 miles vs ~600 (18 mpg avg) for the Raptor. That 300 mile difference impacts trip planning significantly, if you don't have a truck with a 600+ mile range I recommend getting one, after you get used to having that range options open up. The places these trucks can get don't have fuel stations around for 20+ miles, factoring that into a trip changes time on location dramatically. Sure you can take gas along but that's dangerous, a pain and carrying more that 5 gallons is impractical. I hear Ford is putting a version of the GT500 engine in the next Raptor, I hope they keep the 3.5 EB, and I'm sure it'll still be the volume seller. My bet is if RAM keeps producing the TRX, before long they'll make an engine similar to the 3.5 EB an option and it too will be the volume seller for the TRX.

      Conversely, if you’re spending $80k on a car you’re less likely to afford the higher operational cost.
      .
      It’s dumb to say, “if I’m spending more money why not burn some more of it while I’m at it.”
      .
      See, money is zero sum. You only make so much, so the more you spend on the initial purchase price means you have even less for operational cost at the same income level.

      @@KTMcaptain - I suspect the poster that said he could afford the U$80K truck can barely afford it or truly can't. That's why I replied that almost no one will get a TRX for that much for at least a couple of years. In early 2021 the TRX is at best a U$95-100K truck, too close to the new GMC Hummer First Edition BEP.
      As a former Nissan dealer employee I can tell you usually those who will buy a particular vehicle were for the most part the ones that could afford even more expensive ones, but settled on the cheaper one once ALL CO$T$ were factored in.

      There has been since they came out...not very great trucks. Their original power/mpg ratio wasn't extremely impressive like the TRX now is. My SLT ram with a 5.7 has fun with raptors, they aren't that great. The TRX is lacking in some areas, but overall, their goal wasn't to make the perfect truck, it was to make our 10 year old matchbox/hot wheels toys a reality...and to embaress Ford a little for disrespecting V8 lovers by trying to sell us on green deal shit. Lol!

      Most raptors I see are in the city with a business man in a suit and tie behind the wheel. Lol. I mean it’s their money they can buy and like whatever they want but most raptors will never see dirt. These off road full size and more wide trucks like these 2 are amazing machines but just too big for most trails that people do and all that horsepower means nothing on a mountain shelf road and all that width and length is such a pain with switchbacks on mountains or just tighter narrower trails in general. My 4runner and other Tacoma’s i wheel with barely fit through most trails we go on and definitly gets scratches and little dents from trees and branches and rocks since it’s so tight. If you live out west and in the dessert, now that is what these were built for but most people don’t have access to bomb the dessert or sand dunes.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely. Much lighter, has 3.0 bypass shocks instead of 2.5 non bypass, doesn’t use anti squat truck linkage geometry that will make the suspension not want to compress and under power which causes bucking, you get a better 4wd system, and the weight distribution is better having a PROVEN Baja 1000 power plant aluminum v6 instead of a boat anchor handing over the front axle.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@berkalper4742 you’re comparing a base to a well upgraded truck. Throw the same equipment on one, or remove from the other, and they have a substantial price disparity.
      .
      It’s like saying I’d buy an srt4 neon over an entry level 3 series. One is nicer and the other is much faster. But if you buy the e46 m3 you get more power and nicer just costs way more.

With all the plastic, even mid tier Ford trucks feel quite cheap on the inside from my experience renting them for work.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@berkalper4742 that’s why I didn’t quote the base price. But the Ford has an aluminum body that’s lighter. It has bigger 3.0 bypass shocks vs 2.5 non bypass shocks. It’s more efficient. It has a better 4wd system with a torsen.
      .
      More power for a lot more money, but it doesn’t perform better where they’re designed. Look at the Baja 1000 results. UTVs are coming in before some trophy trucks now even with 1/5th the power or less.
      .
      Give me the lighter truck with bigger shocks and better drivetrain if I’m going to hunt whoops.

      Give me the trx if I’m going to hunt groceries and handbags at the mall 🤣

      What will they do? Maybe get a few more ponies modifying fuel and spark tables. Turbochargers adjust boost pressure on the fly and get literally force more or less air in depending on what the ecu commands. Much easier to gain power through a tune. You need pulleys to get more whir out of the supercharger.
