What I don't understand is when people hire you as a photographer and you produce the same quality of work that's on your website but they aren't happy. They aren't happy with themselves and they are insecure. That's the real issue, which I'm glad you addressed in this video, it's most often not your photography they don't like, it's themselves. Especially Senior Portrait Girls. I think it's funny that a young person doesn't realize that I can photoshop any changes they want. Don't like the earrings you wore? I can photoshop it out and put you in any earrings you want. Don't like the way me (former Elite NY model and Paris Haute Couture model) or my daughter (former IMG and FORD agency model) posed you and then I say, do any pose you want and then they stand there looking really bad and order all the photos that we posed you. I retouched you to make you look like you lost 20lbs and I retouched your acne that was covered with makeup but we all know makeup can't hide shadows cast by those volcanoes on your face. Thankfully you came to the right photographer that can atleast minimize all the things you hate about yourself. If I can't make you happy, go shoot with your friend again and see if they can retouch all your acne and liquify you to look slimmer and make your big nose look smaller. Yeah, good luck with that. My daughter tries to remind me that they are insecure and to have some empathy for them because they know deep down inside, they don't look like that instagram fitness model that has a million followers and they thought they could become a fitness model because they sure as heck don't have the body for high fashion.
Oh man call me Edward Scissorhands because after being pushed around for so long I will cut ties the minute I feel disrespected and have tried what I can to resolve issues! You can do it, you deserve to be valued!
I have served over 3 thousand clients all over the world and just today life sent me a friendly reminder to be humble with a difficult client, hard to please, questioning my prices. With over thousands of dollars invested in gear and over 10 years of experience. Her main concern was price. I don't know why some people try to reach services above their budget. She told me that she has worked with several photographers and it's true. After working with her I went ahead and saw her instagram profile and all the other photographers are crap. Lots of people in the background, overexposed photos, very soft portraits and awful white balance. My gut is telling me that I should've canceled that session and get 2 more hours of sleep. Her session was at 6am... That's like an awful thing to wake up to.
Try and keep all details written in a contract. Don't offer more shots than you can do within a time frame. Don't let clients push you around to get more shots than you agree too unless they are prepared to pay the price and wait to a time frame that suits you. BTW Kayleigh your hair looks amazing too :)
I feel like these are common sense tips and I don't mean it in a bad way. I agree with William Vaux, you should have something in your contract to protect you against difficult clients. I read once in a FB group, that one person put in theirs that if the client was disrespectful that the shoot would end right there and they'd keep half of what they were supposed to pay for the shoot or something. So kind of like "refuse to serve" I guess, but I'm no expert on it.

I'm glad you said the 5th one about cutting ties. I didn't think you could do that really... 💯
