  • Introducing the Tim Commerford Artist Series StingRay bass collection!
    Order yours here: musc.mn/TimCommerfordBass
    These brand-new limited-edition Ernie Ball Music Man instruments were designed in conjunction with Tim Commerford, the legendary bassist of Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and his newest project, 7D7D. Tim has been a part of the Ernie Ball Music Man family for many years, and this collaboration is the natural evolution of his enduring passion for the StingRay bass. With active and passive options for both short-scale and full-scale, you’re sure to find the right match for your playing style. The passive full-scale and active short-scale models deserve special consideration, as Music Man has never before offered these configurations.
    Over the last 30 years, Commerford has perfected his signature sound, playing many passive and active basses. The ability to have both full and short-scale, active and passive basses in one collection gives Tim the tools required to reproduce the sounds made famous throughout his career.

    There is zero question where the heavy comes from on Rage songs.

    • @hebertwidodo8332
      @hebertwidodo8332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Hell yeah, Timmy C and Brad Wilk might not be the main focus when someone hears a rage song but there's no doubt without them rage songs wouldn't sound as heavy.

    • @michaelsnydermusic
      @michaelsnydermusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      So true. You don’t need to tune down to drop A and record 5 guitars doing the same riff to be heavy. I mean these guys did it as trio of instruments and were heavy as anyone now and then. I wish these “modern metal” artists took bands like Rage and how they did it to heart. Their songs are timeless.

    • @TVK37
      @TVK37 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@michaelsnydermusic Preach. Say it louder so those in the back can hear you. You don't need to have 8 string guitars, play 300 mph - bpm, or be drop tuned to F# (I'm looking to you Dingwall Bass players who play in the metal genre...) to be heavy as all get out. And you are correct: 4 piece squad: 1 vocalist, 1 guitarist, 1 bassist and 1 drummer. They created timeless pieces of music with a message that still has impact today. Not many bands left standing can say that.
      PS: This signature bass is LONG overdue. As someone said already...this should have happened 10 years ago.

    • @michaelsnydermusic
      @michaelsnydermusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TVK37 thank you! I’ve tried to take their example to my heavier music. I still play in E standard or drop D. It’s the music not the frequency that matters. These “modern” guys can’t write a hook to save their lives. That’s why their music is here and gone and only their hardcore fellow players follow it. It’ll be interesting to see what comes next as Djent is not going to inspire the next generation of players. Luckily, music lasts forever and bands like Rage, Metallica, Sabath, Deftones and all the other originals will be there waiting.

    So very happy for Tim C. And proud of Ernie Ball for choosing a worthy individual for their artist series.
    I remember being in high school and spent one summer really pushing myself to get better at playing bass, and the self titled rage album was one of the things that helped. I learned the whole album, and it really got my finger chops up. I loved the tone he had, and loved the great riffs and basslines. The use of distortion was a huge inspiration, and still is.
    Cheers to a great pairing.

    Tim's early RATM bass lines are some of the legendary best of all times. I have played a MM stringray for 25 years. Such an iconic bass sound.

    Finally!! I’m so glad someone has come up with a solution for this age old problem with the stingray. I’ve always been turned off by having the playing position limited because of the single pick up at the bridge. Nice work TimmyC.

    The reason i love stingrays was Bernard Edwards, Louis Johnson, Paul Denman, Flea, and Mark Hoppus. But the guy that makes me wants to pick a 'Ray was Mr. Commerfold himself 🔥

      I think the one cool thing about the string mutes is that with them being used in the bridge...it kills the need to buy a wrap to kill the unwanted noise from bad left hand - right hand muting techniques that some of us bass players have.

    The unmistakable, growly, aggressive, punchy, and cut-through-the-mix tone of the amazing StingRay bass!!! "Wake Up' is an amazing song and Tim's StingRay sits PERFECTLY in the mix!!!!!! THE DRUMMER IS INCREDIBLE TOO!!!
