3:10 if you need to remove sharpie from Lego Use rubbing alcohol Or Clorox wipes to get it off. For metalic sharpie use Rubbing alcohol But don’t use acetone it will destroy the plastic.
To wash off the sharpie I would recommend putting the pieces into a container of 91% rubbing alcohol and letting it sit for a while. Hobbies with Jose has a few demonstrations on his custom transformers videos :D
Not sure how it works on plastic but writing over sharpie with sharpie on metal lets you wipe it right off. That said most cleaning fluid options that will actually work, will also likely damage the plastic with extended exposure. That doesn't mean don't use it, just be careful. I'd say use rubbing alcohol
@@graylinbeaudry4651dry erase markers also have a similar effect on several things, including dry erase boards (after a month), and alcohol wet wipes clean up any residue the marker doesn't get afterwards.
3:36 odd suggestion for sharpie and hard surfaces like plastic: dry erase markers directly on the sharpie, and then wipe off with anything dry, and if streaks/ smears are still there try alcohol wet wipes. That has worked on finished wood, dry erase board, pencil boxes, 2 play structures, and 12 different action figures. Though that was after only a month after the sharpie incident, not however long yours has been, exept one wooden table, that was 3 years that I know of before we tried it.
man, that sharpied stormer reminds me of what i used to do with my parts. nail polish remover can be pretty useful for cleaning it off, though it's not perfect.
I found a bag of bionicles at a local second hand shop for 5 euros The contents: Toa metru matau (without leg armor shells and with a twisted white axle in the back instead of what the axle would have been in a new set) toa mata Gali (with only one hook), Lewa and almost complete Tahu and Kopaka's mask, weapons and limbs an almost complete Krekka (the disk launcher assembly was missing a few liftarms) Two almost complete bohroks (the white and black without their eyes, both had krana though) a 2003 kohlii matoran (hafu i think) the blue, white and black rahkshi (with a total of 4 feet and one brain slug thing among them) three vahki (the blue, white and black, starting to see a theme here, also with only one disk) for just 5 euros this was a massively good deal. I had all of the toa mata except kopaka so I was compelled to buy after seeing kopaka's mask, now I have doubles of gali and lewa and a kopahu or tapaka or something like that
From a chemistry standpoint do not use acetone to remove sharpie. Acetone and ABS/PC mix too well and the pieces could start to dissolve. Like others have said I would use some form of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) and water. Moisten a paper towel with rubbing alcohol and then wipe the sharpie off. Wash the alcohol off after so there isn’t any degradation of the part or fireproofing layer.
In my experience solving the consequences of my actions, rubbing alcohol works pretty well, just make sure to run the piece under some water lest you want an ugly stain on it once the alcohol dries
i used to have a treasure chest (yes a legit full size wooden treasure chest) full of my bionicles/hero factory sets. my parents gave it to my 10yo neighbor when i left for college. i was okay with it until i recently found out the kid didn’t even play with them more than once before his grandma sold them all for whatever reason. its shitty because my parents gave them to her for her grandson and she just goes and sells my shit. like bruh. keeps me up at night. i had so many old sets and a bunch of admittedly terribly mocs but they were precious to me.
Ah that's a shame Yeah I always hope that whatever LEGO I sell goes to someone who will love and play with it. Hopefully whoever bought it in the end is enjoying it
Amazing bulk, you really got more than you bargained for. When you showed the masks you got, in the top right was the 3.0 stringer mask that I used in my moc called beast.(A name given to him for his brutal fighting style)
6:15 looking at my rocka 3.0 chest piece it has a more definitive gold color while the one in front of you is more beige… that chest piece is definitely a misprint. Lucky you!
One more tip on getting the sharpie cleaned - the alcohol in hand sanitizer works well and since it is already in a gel base it's easy to spread and scrub or let sit on the surface for a few minutes before wiping off.
Hey Ben, I recently restored 3 bionicle masks, my mata nui shoulder peices and on my Krekka leg joints with sharpie/paint on their surfaces to a horrible degree using humbrol enamel thinner. It's quite fumey so best done outside with q tips bit it works a treat and is safe for lego plastics. Hope this helps!
That's really cool. There's a type of online shop in my country where you usually sell used items. I bought yesterday 2 Lego HF IfB minifigures. They look amazing and almost new. They are Rocka and Surge. The only sad thing is that both of surge's hands are quite broken, so he can't hold anything very well, but I spent only ~9$ for 2 minifigures! The tip of looking for goods in your country on different sites really works! Like the only minifigures I can buy on Bricklink in my country is Stormer
I actually went to an AFOL meeting(I’d just turned 18 that week so barely made it) and someone had a big bionicle lot like this and saw that I had brought my heroes to the meeting and he gave it to me for free when he realized it was my birthday earlier that week it was awesome! Made a Jetbug revamp out of it
Hey Ben .I saw parts for Makuta 8593 and Witch Doctor .Cool if you could piece them together .If not you can still get good parts from them . Sharpie ,I heard BRASSO will take that off also . Good luck and GREAT HAUL .take care
Before trying rubbing alcohol, which can sometimes spread the sharpie and stain white pieces, I'd try just rubbing it off with an eraser. It'll take a while but I've had amazing results.
you can use whiteboard marker to remove sharpie. If you just draw on the sharpie with them, and then wipe it and it should come off. Granted, it doesnt work 100% but does clean a fair bit offf.
I don’t know if it works for Lego as well, but if you get permanent marker on a whiteboard, covering it with dry erase allows you to erase the permanent marker with the dry erase.
I recently bought, not a bulk lot, but a bunch of grab bags that would have been $10 apiece, because I bought all of them I got them for half off. I 100% endorse buying bulk lots.
I just picked up two bins at the charity shop for $64. It’s mostly Bionicle but there are some mega blocks figures also. And a Swarovski clam Crystal 😂 maybe the kid took his mom’s Crystal as a treasure of sorts when he was playing. 🤷♀️
Okay, so as a Purist, I'm about to commit heresy or sacrilege or whatever, but I kind of dug the sharpied Stormer 3.0. At the very least on a conceptual level, I could appreciate the inclusion of black as an accent color and it really kind of worked. And I've been able to remove sharpie off a LEGO piece with just a simple pink eraser, like the big ones, but I have no idea how long those parts were sharpied if they eventually bleed in or not, and I also wasn't trying to remove so much. Nail Polish Remover or Rubbing Alcohol should also do the trick. And WOAH! KARZAHNI?! Didn't you say you never got that set in the 2007 Top 5 video? That's awesome!
Telling you now. You probably already know but toothpaste works best for ink/marker. I had a star wars fig with ink and stuff on it and I fixed it with toothpaste and it kept its printing. Love the vid.
I was given a huge bag of bionicle (the bag weighed like 30lbs) and i was super lucky with it, i rebuilt six vahki short one or two properly coloured pieces
Suggestion on how to remove the sharpie from the Stormer 3.0 moc. Use Brasso. It works SO well on removing prints and sharpie from character and creature armor pieces and helmets and the like.
wtf This vid just showed up in my recommended, haven’t thought about bionicle in YEARS. But that green fella in the thumbnail is one o got for my birthday 😭 Pretty sure the full set is still at my dad’s house chilling in a box in my old closet. I wonder if it’s still there 🤔
I got a decent lego system part lot off of fb marketplace for 15$ USD + shipping (so 20$ USD ish) & the friends jewelry box set literally paid for the lot + shipping I even got an old metal axle wheel 2x2 block (tipper truck maybe) & a red torso with a weird gas (petrol) station or racing logo on it tho
For the sharpie what I’ve done before is run some warm water in the sink, put in some soap and just swish it around rubbing the sharpie. Might have to do it a few times. I’m sorry if it doesn’t work
...You're telling me that a mint sealed Karzahni is more expensive than the current most expensive listing for Toa Mata Nui?
Thats the economy mate.
The most expensive bionicle "set" is actually trans BLUE gali mask from 2015, in bricklink It costs like 5k American dolars
@@julianosoares6684technically that’s an sdcc/contest/employee promo which means it isn’t technically a set
No@@julianosoares6684
Honestly i kinda love the sharpied Stormer, it looks like he's spent way too long in the jungle
If you want to ruin this masterpiece you can use rubbing alcohol but i think you should keep him as is
3:10 if you need to remove sharpie from Lego Use rubbing alcohol Or Clorox wipes to get it off. For metalic sharpie use Rubbing alcohol But don’t use acetone it will destroy the plastic.

Toothpaste works well too
Agreed Rubbing/isopropyl alcohol works really well for marker and pen marks.
Do not use rubbing alcohol. Use toothpaste. The rubbing alcohol can eat away at the material or take away the coloring

In the past, I have used a magic eraser to get rid of sharpie marks on Lego.

Definitely jealous and excited for you! These kinds of hauls are the dream, as rare as they tend to be

Throwing away a mountain of constraction parts should be classified as a crime, 'far as I'm concerned.
It’s not a crime when you’re the one receiving it! 😎

A good way to remove Sharpie is soap and water or isopropyl alcohol the higher the percentage is the more effective it would be

Oh heck yeah! Great score
You could try to use a watered-down nail varnish remover on the sharpie
Hey Ben .I saw parts for Makuta 8593 and Witch Doctor .Cool if you could piece them together .If not you can still get good parts from them . Sharpie ,I heard BRASSO will take that off also . Good luck and GREAT HAUL .take care
Got a bulk lot from a buddy of mine not too long ago. Got a near complete Toa Mata Nui. Even had the Gold Ignika.
Great find!
This is my favorite way to buy Bionicle/Hero factory bits to just mash whatever I can make together for fun
Before trying rubbing alcohol, which can sometimes spread the sharpie and stain white pieces, I'd try just rubbing it off with an eraser. It'll take a while but I've had amazing results.
i used to sharpie my Legos as a kid, alcohol wipes for like dis infecting cuts, work pretty well to get marker off.
I remember getting like 4 chima ccbs mostly completed and an ego 2.0 and tahu stars for around 20$ aud :D
I don't know if it weakens the bricks but bleach takes off sharpie really well.
On 6:18 the weapon in the left corner is from Hydraxon. My favorite bionicle I've never got. :p
Splitface was my second hero factory set. Got him with Toxic Reapa.
I’ve used erasers to great effect on sharpie :) as long as the sharpie isn’t on top of a print, because the print will wipe off too
to get rid of sharpie use alcohol wipes. itll take a couple wipes per piece depending on the aging of the sharpie but it always work for me

Use a dry erase marker to color over the sharpie marks then let them sit for a few seconds and wipe with a paper towel. Should come right off.
i also want to buy a bionicle bulk lot after my birthday

I used to use sharpie on some of my Lego and I found that spraying a can of deodorant then washing under water was pretty good at washing it off
throwing away a complete karzahni would've been insane

In the picture of the bulk lot, there's a tire around a Piraka head. I've gotta know what that looked like.

Back in December I found the container for pohatu nuva at good will but as I opened it it was just random stuff inside of it. I still got it tho
I also love invasion from bellow monster sets and the go hero factory sets
From my experiance, nail polish remover is an exelent way to remove marks from peices. just beware of printed detail, it will take that off too.
EXPO markers drawn over sharpie and wiped off works amazingly.
YES! I couldn't remember the name brand of dry erase markers, but absolutely!
wtf
This vid just showed up in my recommended, haven’t thought about bionicle in YEARS.
But that green fella in the thumbnail is one o got for my birthday 😭
Pretty sure the full set is still at my dad’s house chilling in a box in my old closet.

Crazy how this video popped up after my brother found a lot WITH a 99% complete Karzanhi set.

Best to take the set apart before you do it
Speaking of Sharpie on LEGO, use Isopropyl Alcohol to clean it off.
Here in the UK i got my Karzarni from Argos as a christmas gift
I'm using rubbing alcohol to remove sharpie from plastic sets.
AN Isopropyl Alcohol bath should get rid the sharpie nice and easy. Leave it in there for a bit and then wipe off with a paper towel.
Crippling joint pain 😂
im missing the same spike for splitface, lol
Use rubbing alcohol to get the sharpie off
Just Imagine if there are pieces can make a transformers to vehicles and beast modes🔥🔥🔥
Bleach it with soap and use soap and a rag that might work
Mr. Cossy, sharpie can be washed with alcohol
I wish they bring them back!
Sick video dude!👍🏻
Even I don't have that amount of lego
I wish they made a set of the non under water karzani
That would have been so cool!
We’re can get something like that?
Please do more Invasion From Below videos, I love the kaijus
Very very keen to do more, I'll for sure do videos on the sets I got in this haul
intresting finds!
omg, i can never find any bionicle/HF lot boxes in australia! where did you get it from?
I mention in the video, but otherwise I'm in Perth
I did see a bulk lot in Canberra once, sadly it was all fake though haha
