To all the restomod pros on youtube hating on the patina jeep.....if they used matte clear it would look like a rusty jeep. Gloss clear sends a completely different message......it’s artwork perhaps. BUT if you love the matte look you could bring your rusty CJ to this guys shop.....I’m sure he would do it for the paying customer..... then you could enjoy your rusty jeep!
Hi, Fellow CJ-5 Owner ('70 CJ-5 w/ Dauntless V6, 22,351 Original miles... 2 owners) that I got in Utah in 2003. Can you explain the appeal of the rust patina? I kind of like that, but thought it'd kill the value (not that I'd ever sell 😉). Mine looks kind of like that... 🤔 minus the Georgeous paint job/clear coat! Talk about WOW! I Love what y'all are doing! Beautiful work on these sweet, sweet gems. 💎 And where are you located? I'm in Florida. I'm gonna need some restoration help with my '70 girl.
Dennis, That Silver Scrambler with the 360 V-8. Was the way to go! No Chevy. No Ford. AMC powered! Improve the Jeep. I like the way you think. Make it better in everyway. Using the clear coat on that Jeep. It will last for ever. Great VIDEO Dennis! Keep them coming. Shawn.
That silver Scrambler is just jaw-droppingly beautiful. What an amazing job you and your crew do with these American classics. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
That patina paint job looks amazing on the real blue. Esp with the old decals under the clear. It's like preserving a piece of history. I can't wait to see it assembled.
Love seeing all the jeeps that you've restore and bring back to life and all the other cars thanks for the great videos keep on coming with I'll keep on watching from a fan in Australia
Dennis, I really appreciate your knowledge and love for all things Jeep. But what I appreciate the most, is your down to earth demeanor. Thanks for a great channel!
Me Collins i look forward to Friday not because its the weekend but because i know a new Coffee walk is gonna be on.. You knowledge is incredible and always enjoy anything you put on TH-cam.. Keep up the outstanding job and look forward to next week..Have a great weekend Sir
I miss my 85’ Automatic Laredo hardtop, Garnet Red with the two tone Black/Silver interior leather wrapped steering wheel and grab bar. I ordered pretty much every option.
Your knowledge of all jeeps is off the charts. How did you get into the business, did you have a family member pass it on to you, buy business from another person, or start it up yourself? Just wondering. You have done your homework to have the knowledge you have. Thanks for sharing.
I have a 75 CJ5 Levi Edition Renegade with the 304. My friends kept telling me to get rid of the 304 and put a Chevy 350 in it. I agree with you, I kept it AMC. I did upgrade a few parts with Bull tear items.
I drove one back in the early 90s,my moms boy friend wanted me to drive it from Biloxi Mississippi to above Jackson, it was scary, the steering was so sensitive had to keep both hands firmly on the wheel at all times.
Beautiful photina paint. It’s the way I’ve done it. My only issue is with the super high shine. Not complaining, it’s beautiful. I just prefer (personal preference) to use a good flat clear for this kind of paint job. It will last as long and the look and feel is as if it’s old. Your work is great, something to be proud of as I know you are since you share it to all. Keep it up. Enjoy your vids.
I've always liked the Jeep CJ's I would love to find one to rebuild been watching your videos y'all guys do the awesome job I would love to see your Place one day
Decoupage is what I see when you clear coat gloss. Seems satin or flat would go better with rust and old paint. I love your work despite decoupage Jeeps.
I'm over in Rainbow Dennis. I'm about to put my 83 Cherokee back on the road and was wondering about what to do with the paint. It was an original grey and someone repainted it just a shade off of the original color with the wear and rubs on it I love the look. Now I just need to clear it and call it good.
Excellent work you guys do. I just can't get around the shiny clear over patina, not a shot on Dennis, it just looks odd to me. A flat clear to me would seem to blend better.
My first jeep was a 72 CJ 5 258 six cylinder it was red but after that I had many many chiefs after that I had a 62 panel to livery I had a station wagon mini CJ’s 81 scrambler but I had a Chevy V8 in that and I had a 79J 20
I have a 1983 jeep grand wagoneer one owner under 30 thousand miles.... original paint , tires, perfect condition.... and lots of paper work to go with it.....I would like to see you have this...
I did car audio in the 80's and 90's, cant tell you how many CJ dashes I cut, probably at least 500. I did learn to look to see what heater core was in the thing before cutting the dash though, learned the hard way that some of the early ones simply didnt have the depth to mount a standard DIN radio. Whats up with all the mercedes sitting out front, has to be a story behind those.
Dennis Sir, how well does the clear adhere to the rust even sanded with 800? Dad was an Auto Bodyman and part time painter before he passed. I use to help him do body & paint work going through High School (Class of 78, yes I’m old) but we never painted over rust! May I ask what clear do you use? Single stage Enamel w/ a hardner or adhesion promoter or Urethane or what? Thanks in advance‼
Have you guys ever tried a medium gloss patina. I spray PPG every day at work. Considering the medium gloss of ford raptor flares , new Buick bumper low colors and some of the eggshell new Mercedes clear that could look fantastic on a patina jeep. I really enjoy your channel. Thanks for sharing.
WOW WOW THE BLUE PATINA JEEP LOOKS FRICKIN. AWSOME GREAT JOB.👏👍YOU SHOULD DO A VIDEO ON THAT WHENS SHES DONE..JUST BETTER THAN PAINT..CAN I COME WORK FOR YOU, DENNIS..
Does the clear adhere to the patina very long? Did you use an adhesion promoter under the clear? Without a sealer I have had the old paint suck the shine, so to speak, out of the clear after a short period of time being exposed to the elements. Just curious.
To all the restomod pros on youtube hating on the patina jeep.....if they used matte clear it would look like a rusty jeep. Gloss clear sends a completely different message......it’s artwork perhaps. I look at your work and its just stunning. I don't think anybody treats a CJ better than you guys.
I agree.

I come back to this video a lot for that blue patina. I think it's one of my favorite looking Jeeps I've seen.

Never have seen a clear coated patina before looking so cool. Nice job.
I love that your showing some that are almost finished and finished.... please show more
That silver Scrambler is just jaw-droppingly beautiful. What an amazing job you and your crew do with these American classics. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
Dennis and his people never cease to amaze me at the great jobs they do in his shop, fantastic work!
Never understood why anyone would do this. It takes just as long to repaint the Jeep its original factory color.
That patina paint job looks amazing on the real blue. Esp with the old decals under the clear. It's like preserving a piece of history. I can't wait to see it assembled.
Love the CJ. I dated a girl many years ago that had a 78 CJ5 renegade with the levis interior. We had so much fun in that thing.
Silver Scrambler is bad ass, good color for it. What, like go LS like everybody does? Glad he stayed original AMC motor too.
I love the gloss ovet rust patina, captures the moment.
Fantastic job and I love your knowledge and enthusiasm for keeping these old relics providing years of enjoyment.
I bought my Jeep from Dennis in the early 2000s for my wife. She left, but I still have the Jeep.
I have a 1986 CJ7 with a AMC 360 and factory 4.10 geared axles with Moser 1 piece. Complete overkill but I grin every time I drive it:)
Patina, patina, patina...lookin’ good👍🏼. Agree w/you on the white pinstripe. Let’s hope the owner will too...
Had a 76 CJ7, 401 3speed. Looked just like the one in patina paint. Sure wish I had it back.
Me Collins i look forward to Friday not because its the weekend but because i know a new Coffee walk is gonna be on.. You knowledge is incredible and always enjoy anything you put on TH-cam.. Keep up the outstanding job and look forward to next week..Have a great weekend Sir
That grey Scrambler is sweet. I wish it was mine
I miss my 85’ Automatic Laredo hardtop, Garnet Red with the two tone Black/Silver interior leather wrapped steering wheel and grab bar. I ordered pretty much every option.
It's amazing how much TLC you guys put into a jeep, even when it's not your jeep, keep it up, and thanks for the education 😁
That patina looks incredible. I agree new sharp bright hand painted strips would set it off!
Nice job. I’m not a fan of the shinny clear. I wonder what a patina paint would look like with flat clear? I think it would be more realistic!
Personally, I think more of a satin to a semi-gloss would look better. That high gloss is too shiny IMHO.
Your knowledge of all jeeps is off the charts. How did you get into the business, did you have a family member pass it on to you, buy business from another person, or start it up yourself? Just wondering. You have done your homework to have the knowledge you have. Thanks for sharing.
Man Dennis loving the jeep with the 360 in it! And the scrambler with added a/c!!

Keep the 304 ,lot cooler than just another 350
@@45372910 I did.....my thought was exactly what Dennis stated, keep it AMC.
Nice work as I am work on a 62 willy's overland station wagon 4x4 and was thinking of do the just a clear coat.
I drove one back in the early 90s,my moms boy friend wanted me to drive it from Biloxi Mississippi to above Jackson, it was scary, the steering was so sensitive had to keep both hands firmly on the wheel at all times.
Only place id go in my CJ!
I love how they added power brakes and air conditioning and there are still multiple cubic feet of space left in that compartment.
I never bought into the rat rod or patina looks, but those other Jeeps were beautiful.
Love what you do and your videos. When corona is over and forgotten you should open a Jeep shop in Europe. They are very popular over here.
That silver Scrambler is badass!!
I love that patina Jeep the most. It would be my first choice. I want it!

So cool. that's all I got......So cool ! I dig your channel because its all about cars...nothing else.
my fav jeep of all times,, i LOVE that color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A fascinating and enlightening look into the world of CJ Jeep “resurrection “ - thanks Dennis, live long and prosper 🖖
that silver scrambler is insane.. im with you on keeping the engines correct..

Wow that patina job

Great news for Jeep lovers, Wagoneer on the way and looks awesome!!!
@ 3:08
True car guy ethos right there.
I really like the patina I just think it’s too much with the shine should be a dull or satin finish in my opinion
run it thru one of those crappy car washes with the stiff brushes a few times and that will fix it
yead
ive seen that on your lot along with like 8 others down the side of the building
From England Wow I had a CJ 7 that someone had put in a Perkins Diesel I think it was about 1975
Great job, on the clearcoat over the patina, can you let me know what kind of clear do you use thank you!!
I love the patina jeep...
What great advice to not pass up buying a 4 banger!
WOW WOW THE BLUE PATINA JEEP LOOKS FRICKIN. AWSOME GREAT JOB.👏👍YOU SHOULD DO A VIDEO ON THAT WHENS SHES DONE..JUST BETTER THAN PAINT..CAN I COME WORK FOR YOU, DENNIS..
Real men drink coffee black.
Nice cj
As long as it's Blue Island
Love the patina
More incredible work from CB Jeep 😍😍😍👍👍👍
Great & Nice Job .
Liked before watching, again.
I like the Holley Sniper EFI but the big thing it’s lacking is the non ability to utilize a knock sensor.
Who else noticed the wire snip pliers sitting on the hood of the white jeep?..haha
Yeah, I saw those and said to myself “I bet someone is saying where are my wire cutters “
@@michaelpage9883 hahaha exactly!!..i kept yelling at Dennis, "LOOK TO YOUR RIGHT"!
Was not a fan of the patina look but, that teal blue Cj was Badass if he has his guy put the white pinstripe over the patina!😳👍 🔥🔥
Kinda early for that! Dennis you are the best!!
When's the 48/ 50 Willy's Jeepster 4x4 build coming?
I would love to hear the reviews on that Sniper kit. I have had a heck of a time finding any reliable info.
My 66 CJ5 does have patina.
Love the coffee walk and content Denise but you sure do like slamming the hell out of those doors! What
Scrambler perfect 👏👏❤️🇧🇷
That patina! 😍
Why not a satin clear over the patina? 🤷🏻♂️🤘🏼
also pointless
When you pay, you can have whatever you like!
@@DennisCollinsCarWorld Can we see this jeep finished please? I love it
Agree with spraying a satin finish... trying to preserve , not completely change look! Great work, love your channel!👊🏻👊🏻
@@DennisCollinsCarWorld that's right.....
Does the clear adhere to the patina very long? Did you use an adhesion promoter under the clear? Without a sealer I have had the old paint suck the shine, so to speak, out of the clear after a short period of time being exposed to the elements. Just curious.
Wondering the same thing?!
hey does this stop the rust indefinitely? or will it continue under the clear coat?
Love that 360 v8
Scramblers are the best
Love the Vlogs DC, my dream is to purchase one of your custom Jeeps 💙
Hey have seen a early 70’s Mary Kay edition Jeep before
I kinda like it! Thanks for the content.
Dennis looks jacked 💪🏽
Very cool.
Dennis knows his shit
GET YOU SOME OF THAT !!!!!!!!!
whenever i see one of those scrambler jeeps i think of the old sc rambler american factory race cars that amc did a limited production of
