Thank you for taking your time explaining in depth! Some others just go over it too quickly. Something I realized that can help others do this without the reference planes (as they get familiar with the concept) is that the plane corner closer to the viewer is always going to have the "longer side" of the ellipse, from there we can figure out the rest.
Thanks for the tip! Is this because the closet plane corner tends to be "squashed" more? In the same way a camera lens with different lens have different distortion of the image? Just trying to understand a little more here :)
@@mspeanutsandicecream it's because of the angle of the corners. Usually the closest ones form an obtuse angle (more distortion) and the farthest ones are acute (less distorsion)
glad you find it useful! I don't think drawing has to be perfect as long as you convey the correct information or someone can deduce the right information from it.
Thank you! You did a wonderful job at explaining these things, don't ever doubt yourself. Your mini plane drawings were extremely useful. I am looking forward to see more videos like that!
Late to the party... But thanks for all the helpful tips in your videos. Currently relearning to draw after 10 years of not using it in work and these are helping a lot
In isometric view unlike in perspective the lines will not converge into a perspective point they will be always parallel. Artist drawing can be a field with flowers, sunshine and a forest. A product design sketch i usually communicating a products aesthetics and how it used or supposed to be used.
@@robertlkiss because top right sticks 🙂 cut in the middle, make a mirror effect, you will see you're making a mistake on the left side. I'm a drawing expert, trust me I'm sure, just check it.
Yeah that is the hard part, in industrial design you learn to draw long straight lines but that usually goes best in one direction so you always tend to adjust the paper for that. Which gives you nice results but sadly capturing it on video is less pleasant.

number 1, do more video like that, thanks mate
Thank you! Will do for sure!
Notice how he flips the paper guys. You can draw straighter lines diagonally.
It's not necessairly diagonally , it's about finding any orientation that is most comfortable for your hand to draw in.
I am impressed at how straight those dang lines are! lol I know you've practiced that a million times, but still.
!!Mind blown!! Thank you.
I'm glad you like it!

Hmmm no, actually the top left line of the cube should be sticked to the border like on the right side... why did you crop it? 😏
Why should it stick to the border? I'm not sure I follow you.

even your cube is better than mine, lol. how.
Never compare cubes, cubes are cubes. You just do you!
