  • Another goat to add to the list with Messi and Federer? Thanks for watching me watch Cheslin Kolbe for the first time! Guy is a beast and he knows how to lay the egg.

    Pronounced Kol-Bee... he is the best stepper in the world, he is a complete rugby player, he can tackle anyone, he is super fast, he takes high balls like nobody's business and he out-steps the best tacklers in the world. Currently injured but will be back playing for the Springboks soon. He is quite small as rugby players go, and was told he was too small to be a rugby player when he was younger. He was a vital part of South Africa's 2919 world cup winning team. Btw, the headgear he wears is called a scrum cap, and was originally designed to protect the forwards ears in the scrum from becoming cauliflower ears (yes, that's a thing), but now scrum caps are worn by players in any position. As you saw, Wade van Niekerk, the winner of the 400m gold at the Rio Olympics, is his cousin.

    I would argue an say he is probably one of if not the best players in the world right now if not then the best wing in the world in my opinion, there is no other player like him right now, his all around play is unmatched, he is good in the air under the high ball under pressure, he is a solid defender and can make tackles on big players and anyone on the field really, bringing them down and if not slowing them down to make enough time for his teammates to support the tackle, he is a versatile player as you saw he could kick which mean he can slot in a many different back line positions like fly half(10) fullback(15) wing(11,14) and can even slot in at (9), he is all around an amazing player has a great step(juke) on him and probably one of the nicest players in world rugby, think it's also safe to say I really admire the guy and he is my favorite rugby player since I was a kid

    At our local rugby club I once saw a little boy about 8 years old crying offside the pitch. I am the junior's "team-mum" so I spoke to him to find out if he is insured. He was weeping "I am too weak, too slow, too small.."
    So I told him "if you train hard, you will get stronger and faster. And even if you don't grow as much, as others, that's just fine. Just look at Cheslin Kolbe and Faf de Klerk."
    Then I showed him some videos and since then he never missed a training lesson.
    A few weeks after that I heard him talking to a bigger guy who called him a "dwarf"... "the taller you are, the further you fall. take care about your ankles bro"
    Well the big boy learned his lesson afterwards on the pitch and I was soooo proud of "my" little pitbull 😁😁

    The cap he's wearing is called a scrum cap. It offers some protection to your head, but not all that much given how thin it is. The big thing it does is protect your ears from cauliflower ear. Some players just feel more confident wearing them as well.

    Enjoying this series. Do yourself a favour and have a look at the compilation (and possibly do a reaction video) of Jaque Fourie's best tries (Midfield Mastermind). One of the best, if not the best Centre in Rugby history. One of the very few players to score a try against every team he played against.

    Have you noticed that there is a variation of the game where there are only 7 players on the field? Known as "sevens"

    Rugby ball and pigskin arent too dissimilar, same length 11" , diameter of an nfl ball is 22" , a footy is 24" . The nfl ball is pointier and the air pressure is higher, it feels harder and it bounces around like a peanut whereas the rugby ball bounces more kindly , even off the pointy bit. It looks huge here because Cheslin is small, 5' 7" might be the smallest guy out there at the top level.

    Ok I love the comments, but the thing to note is, that you can play this man any number 9-15, and he will represent. He will give it his all and he will make his mark. I love this game, and the peeps still watching it.

      The headgear is called a scrumcap at least where I'm from,its there to protect a player from head trauma...

    • @matthewedgeworth4509
      @matthewedgeworth4509 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@juansmith627 Eh well no it doesnt protect against head trauma at all, it protects against cuts and abrasions to the head/ears, stops players getting cauliflower ears.

    The cap on his head ate being used to protect their ears. If you play rugby for a long time some guys tend to get coliflour ears which mean their ears don't get all big and bulgy. It can also be for protection but not so sure.
