Great video, very informative 🙌🏼 Been looking at an ‘entry level’ leica with the M2 or M4!

Hello, today I picked up a camera that had been sitting on a shelf for years. It was my grandpas. Did a little research and found out it’s a Leica M3. This video even though it’s an M2 has helped me greatly understand more about my camera. Just bought some film and can’t wait to start trying it out. I appreciate the job you did while creating this video. In a way you have helped open me up to a new world/hobbie I can’t wait to start. Thank you!

Hello, I was watching your channel and saw that the M3 camera is very beautiful. Is there a cheap place to buy it? I really like it. Thanks for the advice.

Hey I would suggest eBay because you can always return and it comes fast.

This is a great review! I had an M2 years ago and had to sell it due to tough times but i miss it greatly. Watching this review reminded me of all the things i loved about it. I always thought it was a much more accessable, prettier and sleeker camera than the M3 too

Its definitely a beauty. I've come close to selling it a couple of times for similar reasons but its always found a way to stay with me.

@@filmstockreel don't let go of that thing! I sold mine with 3 leica lenses, era correct to fit all 3 of the framelines for £1,000. I thought that I could always just buy it back.... and then the prices rocketed. I doubt I'll ever own one again 🤷‍♂️

I would suggest that you keep the original cladding as long as possible. There is a black epoxy that I use for repairs that can be molded to look almost indistinguishable from the original. It is called Milliput and can be found at a good hobby shop.

    hello fellow canadian!
great video and great camera! completely agree on your thoughts regarding the shooting experience and range finder usage.
while i also see where you're coming from with regards to the dislikes, i personally find those 2 things actually quite enjoyable and unique to the M2.
The film loading is such a unique experience and i cherish the time i need to change films because it's a little moment of indulgence where you do something very mechanical and hands on for a few minutes. as for the rewind knob, while sure it's not very fast but it's incredibly gratifying to twist that knob. it's almost like a lil fidget toy when it's all the way down i love turning it. and having using other M systems with the quick rewind lever, let me absolutely guarantee you that this is WAY BETTER! trust me. perhaps the only better rewind level on any M body camera is the M5, the rest feel much cheaper and more annoying to use and are a common weak/failure point
having used the coveted M6 briefly before owning the M2 i can guarantee that the M2 is not only the most budget friendly way to get into the leica M body system, but it's also THE BEST leica M body.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Appreciate the viewpoint. I’m definitely still in love with my M2 and won’t replace it even with those dislikes I mentioned. I’ve come to love it for what it is and won’t change anything about it.

Ebi, thank you for the insightful video. In my opinion the M2 is best rounded M body, its aesthetically pleasing, lighter and engaging.
