Get the Most out of Expired Film // 5 Tips
i have no idea why so many praise other film emulations above FC, to me the results people get with it are great!
More contrast and shadows on the yashica. I wonder how it would fair if the Nikon’s exposure was changed.
Hello, I was watching your channel and saw that the M3 camera is very beautiful. Is there a cheap place to buy it? I really like it. Thanks for the advice.
aurora 800 has become one of my favorite film stocks
nice review, would have liked to see also how they perform with the flash in daylight/artficial light since heard the Nikon has a weak flash no idea about the Yashica though, in terms of size the Yashica is defo a more pocket friendly only costs 2-3 times more than the Nikon ..still undecided bcz of the flash issue
Love the mother daughter shot!!!
Thanks 🙏🏾
Awesome photos man!! Loved those portraits at the end 🙏
I’ve been seeking out a lot more portraits and that one is a favourite of mine
what meter app is that?
It’s called Lightmatic
Have you considered using an 85B filter? It should help to give you more natural and true colors.
Thought about it but I can’t find a filter that fits the lens I have for my Pentax 67
You shoot straight out the box or you have to hack it for p&s?
I have some Kodachrome 64,expired in 2007. I know it’s going to be black and white but it’s cool. I bought 5 rolls off eBay and they have been in the freezer for 4 years. I have a roll out now defrosting for a couple of days before I have to use it.
May be I am in minority here and I take photos for living. But I do prefer pictures from the Yashica. More colour balance, Perfect contrast. May be it’s just me. Great video nevertheless xx
I had one from my parents, now I want to learn how to use it, thanks for the video
Awesome video! Thanks for all the info! 😊
Cool photos man :) I really liked the compositions that you chose
Nice work!
Is that the gift store on symington and bloor? 😀
hello fellow canadian! great video and great camera! completely agree on your thoughts regarding the shooting experience and range finder usage. while i also see where you're coming from with regards to the dislikes, i personally find those 2 things actually quite enjoyable and unique to the M2. The film loading is such a unique experience and i cherish the time i need to change films because it's a little moment of indulgence where you do something very mechanical and hands on for a few minutes. as for the rewind knob, while sure it's not very fast but it's incredibly gratifying to twist that knob. it's almost like a lil fidget toy when it's all the way down i love turning it. and having using other M systems with the quick rewind lever, let me absolutely guarantee you that this is WAY BETTER! trust me. perhaps the only better rewind level on any M body camera is the M5, the rest feel much cheaper and more annoying to use and are a common weak/failure point having used the coveted M6 briefly before owning the M2 i can guarantee that the M2 is not only the most budget friendly way to get into the leica M body system, but it's also THE BEST leica M body.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Appreciate the viewpoint. I’m definitely still in love with my M2 and won’t replace it even with those dislikes I mentioned. I’ve come to love it for what it is and won’t change anything about it.
Thanks for the video. I have never used the Minolta HiMatic AF-2 35mm film camera with fixed 38mm f/2.8 auto focus lens. However, I have used the Minolta Hi-Matic 9 35mm film rangefinder with fixed 45mm f/1.7 manual focus lens. I primarily use my Hi-Matic as a backup to my Leica M6 35mm film rangefinder with 21/35/90mm lenses.
The answer to why people tend to love grain and are continuously searching to emulate film is quite simple : - Unconscious Nostalgia - Throughout our youth, we watched all our favorite movies shot on film. We've seen those particular colors, textures, halations, and all those little imperfections that instantly introduced the other dimension that movies actually are.. on pretty much everything we watched growing up. It's completely expected that we are seeking to reproduce what always been for us the look of a movie. If digital would've come first, we would do the other way around. The more we're able to faithfully reproduce the film look(s), the more we're convinced that we're actually making cinema (even when we're not). It's 100% psychological. 100% the same with 24 fps, which is also part of the film look. We simply can't move on from 24 fps.. because it looks wrong to most of us. It's looks like TV reality, or TV news... anything BUT ''cinematic''. There's no other explanations to this phenomenon. The closest thing we have available for authentic grain emulation is Dehancer. LiveGrain is the very best, but isn't available to purchase (it's a service they offer for projects, and it cost tens of thousands of dollars). Dehancer gets really close though, if you set it right. What I strongly recommend to do is ripping some actual Bluray movies shot on film, import it in you NLE and analyze with both you eyes and scopes, to find the perfect settings. Remember that different scenes/shots have different grain, based on many factors including film stock sensitivity, available light, if the image is actually full frame or has been cropped (like close-ups), etc. All of those details make the film look we're unconsciously seeking.
Keep going 💪
Thanks! Appreciate it.
Love this video! Love the monologue! We need more photography videos like this!
Thanks. This means a lot. I try to get them out as much as i can.
Been using this camera for over a year already, but first time I’m gonna use a positive (E-16) film. I heard this type of film needs more specific metering. Not sure if this camera has that capacity of should I get a manual meter on the side? 😅
I wouldn't shoot e-6 in this camera unless you really want contrasty images or if you must i would suggest shooting on a cloudy day with flat lighting.
Thank you for the in depth review!! Just got this camera, about to develop my film I took for it. Also love the immaculate lighting you use
Thanks so much. I like making these videos because its what i wanted to know when i first held this camera
Great video! I soon bought a cheap 3D-printed handgrip for my M2, and it improves the ergonomics a ton. You no longer need all that clamping force in your hand to hold the camera.
Thanks i'll try this!
If we could all just have a moment of silence for the three shots of FP-100c 🫡
Got one of these lovelies at my thrift and oml im in love. Just need to fix and clean it up some. Mines is a different type it swems sincebit has a record option. Been looking for a new portable tiny camera and this is purrrfect! I usually use an polaroid for the job so this is a nice switch
That's great, hopefully it works out for what you need it for.
Hi! What film do you use for the color photos?
Hey I used Fuji c200
Great video what film do you use for the photos they look great
Fuji c200 for colour and Ilford Hp5 for black and white.
Fog has such an atmosphere. Here in Cape Town South Africa we get solid fog banks. After all your fog adventures, I guess you can now claim the title of 'fographer'!
I like the sound of that. lol!
im thinking of doing fog shoots anytime soon, your results are nice
Do it. It looks really good and the results are unexpected. I’m now chasing down fog days all the time.
Awesome photos! Some super dope fog days glad those worked out for you!
Thanks man!
Where do you go to find auctions? Is it just Ebay, or are they local in-person events? Really glad I found your channel btw, I can’t find a lot of Toronto street photography content. Love seeing familiar streets and spots in your vids 👏
Thanks appreciate it. I sometimes find deals on FB marketplace but there’s a website called Ontario HiBid where you can get stuff as well.
Really nice photos! I enjoyed watching this video 🙂
Thanks! Appreciate you saying that.
Nice review, I will have to add some to my collection... If my freezer space allows... My wife at the tipping point of freezer space . 😂
Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
just bought this camera, thanks for this amazing video really helpful bro hope u continue with these videos
Thanks! Appreciate the post. I love little cameras like these and I always wanted someone to show me how to use it. That’s why I keep making them.
These are great
Thanks so much!
Wow greaat
Thanks Appreciate it 🙏🏾
Thanks for the video...I just picked up one of these at an estate sale and was unsure about how to set the film counter.
No worries hope everything is good with the camera.
Life is life right now, I know I want to do so many things but also not at the same time a lot of people I think feel that way as well.
Yeah man! It’s like a thousand things on my mind but nothing is sticking. We’ve just gotta believe that everything will happens when it’s supposed to.
@@filmstockreel I always believe things will just fall into place when we need it or even when we least expect it.
Вот эти прогулки с плёночным фотоаппаратом восхитительны,браво!)) я тоже так брожу по городу,у меня Minolta hi matic 7s , good luck bro!
Thanks!
<3 bro, im here for it. love the inter-monologue .
Thanks so much! Appreciate it. Sometimes you just need to get things off your chest
A former drama therapy lecturer of mine would always say 'trust in the process'. Seems applicable to film photography too. Thanks for the video and photographs 🙏
Thanks! I feel like i needed to hear this now
Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed seeing how you work on the street. The go-pro makes quite the difference. From what I could see you never bring the camera to your eye, just kind of pointe it in the direction? What focal length were you using?
Hey, thanks for the comment. I sometimes bring it to my eye but about 50% of the time I don’t so I just set my zone focus and aperture and I’ve been using the camera long enough to know what will be in frame. I’m using a 35mm
thank you for this superb review!
Thanks means a lot to hear!
Definitely a camera that’s been long on my list. Stick with the OG skin a few rips adds character imho Great review liked and subbed mate.
Appreciate it! Thanks for the comments. Hope to keep making more of these types of videos. Just need to get my hands on a couple more.
@@filmstockreel haha I getcha mate I spend so much time trawling auction sites and opshops for gear use it once for TH-cam content then can’t bring myself to part with it
very good review! straight to the point, no annoying parts. thank you
Thanks appreciate it 🙏🏾
Keep up with your vids man ! You are really doing great great stuff 👏
Thanks! means a lot! I've been enjoying doing this style of video and have a lot more planned
No need to apologize for Voightlander glass! Voightlander lenses are superb.🏆
They definitely do. Thanks for your comment!
