I have a question, how to get trackmaster faces too? Like custom realistic accurate ones like those that fit in a motorised trackmaster engine and a push along one?
You can also ask the people who made the faces to have the files and then you can scale it yourself. Mostly people on twitter sell files / and also able to print things for you
I use the closest paint I could choose from in my local hardware store (OBI). But I use OBI light gray spray paint! But honestly even if the gray doesn't match it 100% if you shade it it looks really close to the real thing! --> (Video for shading will be made as well in future)
i didn't see anyone making a moving eye mech for Ho scale but if we do someday then the eye brakcet can help alot in it. But in general makes the eye positioning much easier! And yes all faces were made for bachmann Thomas but i don't own any bachmann trains anymore.
Same thing, as the open ones. Just put paint around the mouth area and then wipe it. Should be the same result. (I will also make a video about James' faces so it might be a bit more clear in that video.)

Thomas' faces are 18mm in diameter so if the Tracmaster model is that wide then yes. If its just a small spce missing, then you can have the smokebox trim like mine!
I think repainting the stock bachmann faces are not really worth it. They are based on the cartoon-ish version of the character that we can't really make more accurate to the props faces. I'd say leave it as is. But it really depends on you! As for the paint color, I'm not sure what shade winter gray is because a lot of companies Identify winter grey as a different shade :/ But whatever you think fits, will do! Mine are not accurate either but I like em. Its all for fun at the end of the day
@@NWRKRIS I meant spraying whatever face I decide to get on shapeways. Using rustoleum's winter Grey. I used it on a smokebox recently and I think I like it. It works if I need something to look silvery too.
@@ShukakuTheCrazy1 didn't have a chance to use rustoleum before but I didn't hear a lot of good things about it. The shade of it seems good to me though!
@@NWRKRIS rustoleum's been good to me, but using it and a can of Tomiya paint kinda made it clear to me that it's not the most suited for model work. That said, it's Nantucket Blue is perfect for my American style thomas.
@@ShukakuTheCrazy1 Tamiya can be useful since it is made to use on models for the most part, Rustoleum I don't have personal experience with so I'll take your word for it
From the inside with a small knife inserted it between the plate the segment that holds it, and the body. After that if loosened just press with your thumb from the inside and it will fall out. If pushing doesn't work, then you can pry it from the outside with also a small knife or something small that can fit the small crack between the face and body and pry it down that way (thats what i had to do with hornby James) Hopefully this helps!
1. You just simply put it behind the face and secure it with sticky tack or if 2. If you have the eye bracket then you put the eyes behind the face again, and put the bracket behind the eyes, and secure the bottom and top of the bracket with sticky tack, and now its easier to move the eyes!
Shapeways is expensive there no doubt about that. But on twitter there are many who can sell you the files and print them for a total of 30€-40€ Thats what i would go with personally

I didn't make any face files yet but there are MANY and by that i mean many free files ready to print! From james' bee sting angry face to Percy smiling, Boco confused, Thomas S1 smile, Edward S2 Smile they have everything! Of course not all faces are free to get but those can be purchased from a few tsitter users for around 3-5€

1. The paint i used was just a light gray (matt) spray paint. 2. I want to do another because not only i think i can do a much better job at showing this, but also because i found a new technique to do this and make it accurate a bit easier! I think its either coming out in a week or so but in worst case its a month(hopefully not).

@@MeReagan_just a recommendation my thomas faces are in a light gray because originally i didnt want to film them i just wanted to have some fun and that shade matched! However a darker gray was used in the TVS and all the lights made it looks like its as bright as it is. Depends on you of course! Also the paint was OBI
@@MeReagan_ and for the source i think any photo from the show helps but if you look closer you can kinda see the shade needed. But a few people on twitter nailed the look i highly recommend checking them out!

For the time being I didn't have a toby model but I did have a broken trackmaster toby. Thought why not put it on a chassis!
Painting the eyebrows and the inside of the mouth on a Thomas face takes real skill

I use airsoft pellets! Usually ypu can get then in bulk from amazon but sometimes people on twitter sell a smaller ammount

Do those faces work for TOMY/Trackmaster Models?
the size is different for sure but you can contact the maker of these faces and he can give you a modified version for tomy/trackmaster
For the eyeballs are they 6mm paintball ones?
Every pack has the detailed description where it says what size you need
How did you get the close mouth area with the paint?
Same thing, as the open ones.

If you can get it smooth enough it can but its very very hard for a few expressions with alot of wrinkles

The eyes from bachmann are too big to fit. But if you can make the new eyes i think its possible to make them move. Its been done before

Does it work on Trackmaster?
I think the size might be smaller. But you can contact the makers/owners of these files and they can modify it for you!

The white plastic is so rough that it will look more like a rug than an engines face. I advise you dont get the versatile plastic version
