  • Inclined plane problems with friction are common in AP Physics C and AP Physics 1. This video goes through common examples of a box or a block sliding down a ramp. In most cases you will need to find or solve for acceleration or the coefficient of friction. This video goes through several solutions of common example problems.
    Good luck AP Physics kids.

Shouldn’t the force of friction in the second problem be subtracted from the g sin (theta) when finding acceleration as the box is moving up the ramp bit friction is pulling the box down the ramp?

Friction is pulling the box down the ramp but so is gravity, that is why the magnitude of friction is added to gsin(theta), because both friction and gravity are pulling down on the box to slow it down as it moves up the ramp. Hope this helps!

    g' must be equal to 9.8 not 10 m/s

for AP physics can be 9.8, 9.81, or 10 m/s^2 all are accepted I believe unless stated

@debossruss2006 Precisely. For me at least, Kinematics had to adhere with 9.81 and this unit adhered to 9.8, albeit seldom 10 in non-calculator sessions.

These videos are intended to prepare my students for AP Physics and g=10 m/s^2 for that test.
