My favorite line from the album is, “I destroyed my health searching for myself, but there ain’t nothing there to find”. It hits so hard and I’m glad this album finally pushed me to finding my own meaning of life

When you're familiar with Lord Huron, words fail to capture his artistic essence. This generation should value the music he creates. Thanks for sharing this fantastic video.

Lord Huron is a salvation in today's neutral, meaningless music. Their songs are full of emotions, lyrics with meaning. They touch you where no other bands can do nowadays.

This album did really help me with the idea of my own mortality. The themes of growing old and regretting life helped me gain perspective on our short lives here.
I got "may you live until you die" tattoed on my arm. To remind myself that life may be meaningless but we can make our own meanings from it.

I seriously am struggling to find the words to describe how amazingly crafted and thought out your analysis is of this album. I've been an avid listener to Lord Huron for almost 6 years now, and I've never seen such an in depth video delving into the meaning behind the album. You, my friend, have created what I truly believe to be a one of a kind masterpiece. Keep making astonishing videos like this, and I'm sure you'll be a hit TH-cam channel in no time.

From the moment Spotify suggested Love Like Ghosts to me in 2015, I have been a Ben Schneider disciple and Lord Huron superfan. When they released Vide Noir, I was there at midnight. When they hit Tulsa on their Vide Noir tour on October 1, 2018, I was there.
When they hit Las Vegas on the Long Lost tour on my 21st birthday, I was there, too...belly on the barrier, singing along to every lyric, so thoroughly fortunate. The staff were able to give me Ben's guitar pick from that night and I currently have it in a locket.
Thank you so much for giving words to the amazement that I feel towards Lord Huron.

Thank you for this! When I first started listening to Lord Huron seriously, it felt like discovering an amazing treasure, a rich imaginative world I could get lost in. The albums are all truly works of art, meant to be listened to start to finish because they tell such a complex story. The Lord Huron universe has definitely become my niche obsessive interest and I know there is still so much I haven’t discovered! When I saw them live last summer, it was such a magical experience I will never forget. They are not just musicians, they are storytellers on and off stage. I try to tell everyone I can about Lord Huron because almost everyone knows The Night We Met, but almost no one knows that that song closes a powerful thematic album - it’s just a tiny piece of the larger puzzle. If everyone realized Ben Schneider’s creative genius I think they would be the most famous band in the world!

The first time I heard this album in full was when I saw Lord Huron live during their Long Lost tour. Listening to it live genuinely changed me forever. Long Lost transports me into this alluring, intricate world Lord Huron has created. "What Do It Mean" and "Long Lost" are two of the most beautiful and emotional songs I have ever listened to. The pure passion and sincerity Lord Huron's work holds is unmatched by any other artist I know, and this essay perfectly conveys this belief. I'm so thankful that this album is receiving the love it deserves!

One of the themes of this album that really struck me was Lord Huron's departure from an idealistic view of love in what I felt were traditional "love stories" in Lonesome Dreams and Strange Trails. Previously the characters in their albums embarked on quests either with the intention to return to their lover (Lonesome Dreams) or because they were looking for love along the way (Strange Trails). The loss of a lover at the end of Strange Trails is tragic, but the love itself wasn't tarnished. Vide Noir (both the album and the film) set up a similar story but in the end Buck is left to realize that, even after completing the quest that brought his life meaning, the love he thought he shared with Lee wasn't real. In this way, I feel like Vide Noir sets up a more realistic depiction of love stories that we see in Long Lost, in which partners can lie, cheat, be jealous/possessive, or fall out of love altogether. They propose getting lost instead of questing for a person or a specific goal. Long Lost forces the audience to depart from finding meaning in love and find it instead within the self.

lord huron has been one of my favorites, if not my favorite band for years now, i started listening to them with the album strange trails when i was struggling with staying alive, and their songs with their theme of someone being "cursed" and not finding an answer to what's beyond are so haunting and beautiful. they helped me accept better mortality and really enjoy the small things in life when everything else is falling apart

When I first discovered Lord Huron, his songs doesn't just get me in my feelings, but they also evoke me to think in a better perspective. To live with past memories and regrets are always the things we do as humans, but how we deal with it is something that is always in our control. Regardless of the decisions we make, we are conscious and alive, constantly moving forward with time. So through him, I figured out what to do with those memories as I used to grief for the past and now I cherish them despite how bitter it was, to leave it behind in time, to look forward in the moment and just live.

This album might have an interesting concept but Vide Noir, their previous album, musically speaking, was much more of a life changer for me. It came at the perfect time when I was uprooting heading to the Great lakes after 38 years in California. Something about having your life in your car when you listen to that in the desert hits different.
I found this follow up to be pretty good, this video makes me want to give it a second chance and see if it can do some "changing" but it certainly going to take more than a cool concept.

I'll definitely do that! I'm very curious about the songs they're working on. Have you heard that "Comedian" song they're playing at their shows now? Makes me very excited for the new album.

@@withinmotion Comedian sounds good. However, this theme of the song is definitely reflected in "Twenty Long Years", and I would not like repetitions in the new material. But it's too early to say anything, you need to wait for the album.

Thank you so much for this video! The whole album Long Lost really hit deep. The sounds, his voice, the harmonies, the lyrics, the deeper meaning of the fictional characters… I really, really love Tubbs so much, even though I barely know him.

I have been listening to Lord Huron since 2016, and they have stuck with me through a lot. I can't ever get bored or think I've listened to them too much. I can suggest way too many songs, but to start, I would suggest listening to these songs:
    Emerald Star
Ancient Names (Part I and II)
    Lost in Time & Space
    Moonbeam
    Vide Noir
I could keep going, most of these songs are from their album Vide Noir. Do check this album and their other stuff out.

Totally agree, it is clearly constructed to be played through start to finish. I think all of the albums are, but this one in particular brings in Tubbs’ commentary so it’s really about the overall experience
