People always ask me what genre Lord Huron is. It is somewhat impossible to provide a succinct response, so I’ve begun telling them it’s Cosmic Cowboy music. The blank stares I receive in return say it all.

This album has absolutely floored me. I'm fifty years old and haven't heard an album as moving as Long Lost in at least 20 years.
It’s honestly one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. I can’t stop listening to it, it’s just perfect 👌🏻

It definitely is a great one. Though, I'm still partial to Strange Trails and Vide Noir. But Long Lost is amazing.

As she gazes into the TV like a crystal ball, she connects with him in the future; the version of him that is trying to make his way back to her. Realising what a fool he was, hoping that it's not too late.
But for her, the image on the screen is in the past. She knows the whole story back to front. She even takes some of his mistakes and makes them her own with hindsight. She mouths the regret she has for not being more patient before, while he sings the same regret after realising what he'd gone and done. Separated and yet connected between dimensions.
Taking one last look at him in the museum of her heart, she lights the match and burns it to the ground.
They were meant to be, but they did it wrong.

Interesting how songs can mean whatever we want them to mean. I interpreted this video differently. I think she is the performer that the museum is dedicated to and she is singing to the fans she lost along the way. Maybe she sold out? Maybe she went to rehab? One hit wonder?
Now she's old(er) and forgotten and struggling to find relevance. Basically a country version of Grizabella the Glamour Cat.
Sigh. I wish there were more modern indie songs with the dreamy romanticism of western music from the 50s. Lord Huron is an addiction, I swear. ❤

Lord Huron doesn't need the world, the world needs Lord Huron
This song and most of Lord Huron songs remind me of my ex-husband. We divorced in 2001 but we still talked and went on dates until a couple a years ago. He came to see me and took me for my cancer treatment. When he brought me home, he put this song on and we danced to it in my living room. He told me I will always be his family and he will always take care of me.
He died 2 months ago and I really just miss knowing he is a phone call away.
We also danced to," The Night We Met" by Lord Huron.

I've been fighting the Big C for 9 years. Even had experimental treatments at Stanford. I got some years out of it but now it's the end of the road. I wish upon the Emerald Star that the fella's release a vid for "What do it Mean." I ask myself these questions posed in the song MANY times a day. Only LOVE

I grew up on metal, punk, grunge, and grindcore, but truth be told? Lord Huron is to me the most complete and perfect band out there. Not a single song in their catalog that cannot convey a memory, a feeling, emotion, or a time in one's life.

True, I relate my life on music and there is no way to describe my love for LH.
I actually listen mainly to alternative rock and heavy rock, but I do visit the electronic folk genre once in a while. Lord Huron belongs to that genre, which I don't listen to too often, but I love his sound.

I left behind my childhood sweetheart, because I needed to travel far to get lost and finally find myself.
After 3 years without news, I was afraid that she had forgotten me.
I ended up going home, tired from the long journey I had made.
I knocked on her door and she was there, she always waited for me and today we are experiencing perfect love.
I listened to Lord Huron a lot during this trip and this song particularly touches me.

LH makes music that takes you to a place that once existed and you get to psychologically and emotionally experience it and it's pure bliss.
This album is like wandering into a western carnival type performance in the middle of nowhere after getting lost or havjng your car break down in the desert
So, it sounds like a cheerful song but tells every listener a sad story.
probably the best country album of the year and nowhere to be found on any “country” radio stations.
Not sure id consider it country anymore though.. Too country for the pop on radio and and a little bit of a alternative twist on the “country” of it. If that makes any sense..

Hey! I know I'm just a random girl on the internet but I'd like you to know that if some people judge your music taste, it's their problem, not yours. Please don't let them make you feel shame because of something you like. There are so many genres and each of them has its fans. If those people listen to mainstream music only, it's probably either because their taste just so happens to lean towards such music (which is understandable, but to me it's mostly not so popular songs that hold the most meaning and value) or they have some other preferences in music as well that they may not be comfortable sharing. (Now, that'd be pretty ironic). Either way, don't let them and their taste decide what you should or shouldn't like.
Especially if what you like is this beautiful and unique✨

I live in Gatlinburg at the foot of the smokies and my favorite thing to do is to drive through these mountains under the moon and bless the pure dark and silence of the animals and creatures of the night with Lord Huron’s jams.

I get entranced by this video everytime I see it. The inside of the museum being way too big for the outside. The distorted face, and the distortion briefly showing on her face as well. The fire, not the first judging by the appearance of the museum in the beginning. Just so many slightly unsettling things, in such a disarming and almost adorable setting (just look at that faceless dork doing his little shimmy on the stage)
When most bands lately sound like crap here we get music of the highest talent. I know music is subjective but I find it impossible to know who wouldn’t like this perfect band. And I just love the cosmic 60’s mixed with country vibe that mixes and turns into something magical. LH creates their own musical agenda with every album then breaks the mold and goes on to another new sound.
Well now it's all about saving minorities, sing for culture. Music lost its essence long ago when politics entered it. This band, just made us happy. They are far more deserving.
Most bands lately do not "sound like crap" Gtfo with this whiny nonsense. There's more good music out today than ever before and it's easier than ever to find it, and for free. If you can't find good music, it's literally your own fault and no one else's. Put in minimal effort.

@@momiriseni5320Thank you! My first was Lost Highway, 15 I think when it came out. I always liked the Twin Peaks soundtrack from my childhood but had not watched. Now one of my favorites, FINALLY checked it out in 2015. I love it all. He's definitely profound.

Perfect summer driving song. Another gem from Lord Huron.
I ended my speech with "May you live until you die" at an event yesterday and with the fading applause, a girl stood up excitedly clapping a little longer. Later we talked about our favourite bands and man, is she a girl of taste... It's rare to find people who tend to enjoy not only the beats and melodies of a song but also it's lyrics.
