- In this Family Guy video I review Season 22 Episode 9: The Return of The King (Of Queens).
On this channel we look at the funniest Family Guy moments from Peter, Lois, Chris, Meg and Brian. As well as other Family Guy characters from Quahog Rhode Island.
#familyguy #petergriffin #stewiegriffin #meggriffin #familyguybestmoments
They could have Stewie in a Home Alone movie situation, would have been better lazy writing at least
I could actually see a home alone parody with Stewie. Imagine all the insane traps he could build... okay, I love this idea now!
They did leave Stewie home alone in one episode, except it wasn’t a parody of the film
@LydiaLovesTimelines, how did you watch season 11 of modern family because I can't find it in Disney plus
@@clutchmorecity I think I brought the final season. To be honest, you can skip it. Really didn't like the final season personally
@@LydiaLovesTimelines ok thanks you should rank the family guy seasons when your done with this one
“A lazy excuse to move the plot along.” Is a perfect description of how I see Family Guy now. Like if you ever think of individual storylines from family guy and how the characters make decisions for more than a few seconds, none of it adds up.
So the writers really looked at the final script and storyboard of this episode and said to themselves “oh yeah. The viewers are gonna love this!”? Man this has been a rough season. And didn’t they already do a Christmas episode where Peter has an adventure with a celebrity, the Patrick Swayze ghost one
yup! That one is at least decent as opposed to this.
Family Guy has been going downhill for years now.
Eh to be fair their running out of ideas.
"RoadGhost"
They seem like that one ambitious college student in his senior years, as all his joy had slowly washed off by the sleepless night working on countless projects he had to do over the years.
Personally, this episode impressed me. I never imagined ChatGPT could get a Family Guy episode down so accurately.
Family guy is not taking any risks anymore to make their joke
It’s has its moments sometimes
Unless they are making fun of toxic relationships for some reason. I don’t really get it. I always found the old dry humor to be way funnier then all the jokes about the broken marriages.
They are under Disney’s thumb now.
@@ryumpledisney’s *liberal* thumb
They've been liberal lol@@j4m3sii
I know Seth doesn't write for the show anymore. Which really sucks, cause Seth loves Christmas. Just a shame that his show's Christmas specials get worse and worse.
Also Parks and Recreation is a funny show. Worth to check it out.
This episode not being written by him is good otherwise he'd be a hypocrite for the anti streaming sentiment given Orville's final season was on Hulu.
This channel is a great way to experience modern Family Guy without actually watching it. Thank you for validating my preconceived opinions Lydia!
Personally, I enjoyed the part where Peter actually named 50 shows. Mainly for how impressive it was that he could name all of them without stuttering.
I'm glad you brought up the fact that Kevin James didn't voice himself. I found that really odd. It seemed like something he honestly wouldn't mind doing.
My favorite was their first Christmas episode. Mostly it's because it reminded me so much of Christmas in my household growing up. My mom would be so upbeat while dad and I selfishly nagged each other until she snapped like a twig on the both of us... no paper towels! 😂
You can hear Lydias voice in the first 10 seconds and know this episode took a lot out of her
The best one is the original where Lois turns on Christmas from the holiday stress. Featuring the nonexistent yet epic holiday special "KISS Saves Christmas"
Lois "MY HOLLY JOLLY BUTT"
Yeah that’s my fave
NO PAPER TOWELS!!
I watched that episode this morning, and the only time I even did as much as a chuckle was when there was a cutaway gag about Florida.
Admittedly they over exaggerated how people on Florida are
It’d be awesome to have your take on Bojack Horseman. I know Johnny 2 cellos is the king in this category but it feels nice to have this show get recognition and see how it’s taught other content creators more about themselves and what they take away from it, plus who they resonate with more as a character.
I saw the first episode of Bojack for the first time. Its ok and I got a few laughs. The fist epsidoe had so many cutaways you could mistake it for Family Guy. LOL
Road to the North Pole is one of my favorite Christmas specials of any show.
it wasn’t offensive, was decently acted, and had a strong message about the true meaning of Christmas- everything that you want in a show
I find that episode creepy. I skip it each time it comes on.
Peak Family Guy Christmas special. I still go back just to listen to “Christmas Time is Killing Us”. Absolute banger.
Probably my fav Family Guy episode of all time. The songs are super catchy and fun, the plot makes logical sense, and for once the message is on-point.
Can we appreciate how Lydia goes through all these terrible episodes just to review them.
You should give Scrubs and Venture Bros a try.
Venture Bros is the best written show I have ever watched. The attention for details by the writers is second to none. They would watch previous seasons to avoid contradictions and retcons.
Plus the roster of characters is so amazing.
I’d also mention that Venture Bros also has Patrick Warburton as Brock. (One of my favourite reasons to watch the show)
@@undeadpandaproductionsBrock Samson is arguably the best character in the show if it wasn't for the MIGHTY MONARCH! 😈😈🦹🦹
Im actually watching Venture Bros for the first time and I literally cackle and giggle every fucking episode its really good
Venture Bros. is a good show, but it takes a few episodes to wrap your head about it. The visual style is deliberately 60s-70s Hanna-Barbara, but if you expect that kind of pat, neatly concluded story telling...
7:26 - I think that’s suppose to be JD from Scrubs right there, I don’t know if you said that intentionally or what but yeah check out Scrubs and Venture Bros. to anyone who hasn’t.
I think the worst thing about Peter naming fifty shows bit it's very similar to the joke of Peter listing all the Fox shows that were cancelled during between their cancellation and revival.
But Peter listing all of Fox's cancelled shows worked a lot better, because through the list you do realize how many shows Fox did cancel during a short period. While also working as funny jab at the Fox for cancelling them in the first place.
Peter throwing people out of the castle window was funny and the florida diner cutaway gag but I agree the episode itself felt flat. 😂
I laughed at dat third time he did tho! 😂
@@rondorock2563 i did too 😂
I kept laughing
Atleast someone laughed at it I suppose
I saw the episode randomly on TV, but tuned in after the intro part of the tree, so I had no indication it was the Christmas episode until the end. Which is sad, since all other Christmas episodes have Christmas stuff through out. The only indicators of it being Christmas was, snow, tinsel, the ceiling runners, and the fact that everyone was wearing sweaters.
I genuinely think they gave up awhile ago. The episode was terrible man. The whole season has been absolutely trash. Also you couldn’t even get Kevin to do the voice acting for it? They got Stephen Curry to do one but can’t get Kevin James.. An episode about Kevin James in 2023.. what..?? 😭😭
I thought the Lois and Meg episode was a fun one
Ngl Stewie & Brian’s Santa home invasion is my all time favorite Family Guy Christmas sketch, that shit absolutely killed me the first time I saw it & it still gets me every time lol
I don't know which streaming service has it, but I would recommend the original run of Charmed. It was about a family of witch sisters Piper, Phoebe and Pru (and eventually their cousin Paige) trying to live their normal lives while keeping their powers a secret. Not easy when there's always some form of evil around.
At this point I’m curious to see how far the show will continue to go. I mean they have done a lot already even some specials and 49 minute episodes.
Bones is a awesome show to binge watch 12 whole seasons that were released between 2005 and 2018
One of the best forensic science shows ever definitely recommend it
The nude wandering caught me off guard 😂
Have you tried Brooklyn 99? The show has the same vibe as The office and Modern family but as a police precinct in Brooklyn. A major caracter (Captain Holt) actor has passed away recently but the show is really good and my favourite.
Rest in peace Andre Braugher. Oh captain, my captain
yes!! it's a really good show
Nine nine! ❤
The owl house is an amazing show cant recommended it enough, if you are into magic and fiction and someone told being different is not okay so she goes somewhere where it's okay to be different.
This show feels like it's written by AI now.
2:50 Db, Dbz, Dbgt, Dbs, Btas, batman beyond, justice league unlimited, invincible, one punch man, the simpsons, the flash, arrow, Rick and Morty, American dad, samurai jack, primal, the Batman, animaniacs, freakazoid, looney toons, fallout, my adventures with Superman, etc
I've been waiting intensely for this. Got 2 chapters left of The Simpsons Secret, which I'm hoping to finish tomorrow so I can order your other book. My family always know when I'm about to read the book or watch your videos because I have a tendency to announce that it's "Lydia Time!" There's also "Phantomstrider Time" and "TheRealJims Time", but I enjoy "Lydia Time" slightly more. Just don't tell them I said that.
0:18 this scene made me laugh so hard
I liked the dog bits, I thought they were random in a funny way, but I think it’s just cause the dogs were animated cute
The worst Conway joke is when the episode just abruptly ends halfway through the segment used to get me so mad
It’s annoying to see family guy downgrade, I wonder which era was their golden age
Season 1-3. 4 is up there too for some but I don't see it. It's average imo.
Season 4 - 10 in my opinion.
Seasons 1-9, tbh.
The pre-cancellation seasons were, no doubt, the best ones. Seasons 4-6 were like their silver age, and it just continued to get worse from there.
Season 3 - 4 is when they really found their footing, then season 9 - 10 is the last season to have some actual good episodes
From what I’ve heard about Kevin James I doubt he has enough of a sense of humor about himself to have done this role.
Yeah he is a dick in real life after all. I assumed they were poking fun of him too much and he had to acknowledge he's irrelevant now. I like him a actor but I don't like him as a person
2 stars is too generous for this episode. This whole episode coulda been done without it being Christmas like you said. Also I agree with you that they really do overdo the Florida jokes. It’s basically every episode at this point. The Florida jokes aren’t even funny it’s just a bunch of name calling
It’s almost certainly political in nature. Seth is a huge lefty and Florida is quite conservative.
@@KCKingdomCreateGreatTrekAgain I don't think Seth has written for family guy in a long time. He just does the voices
@@lexyruse603 Well then he hired a bunch or lefty writers. Either way the knock at Florida is political
@@KCKingdomCreateGreatTrekAgain Seth don’t write the show anymore ! Don’t you understand he is tired of that now
@@daniapfel2825 And didn’t you see I said “well then he hired a bunch of lefty writers”???
4:39 I have another sweet story of this! So remember the cutaway gag where Peter wrote to Cary Elwes? And the letter was kinda doggin' on his career. Well on the weekday after the episode aired, Cary himself came into the writers room and read aloud a letter he wrote back to Peter! He's also done a few voices for FG, like Watson in another cutaway for an episode. I just think that was so cool of Cary to do and another example of actors being able to laugh at themselves.
It's sad how Family Guy missed the "Kevin James Shrugging" meme by 2 months.
It's Family Guy. If they referenced the meme, it would be like 3 seasons after it was last relevant.
Well I think they said that an episode takes a year to make.
Episodes take 8 months to a year to make so this was probably in production way before the meme
@@Lewis1995 Even if that episode takes that long to produce, it wouldn't be for some time until they'd actually catch on to the meme. Look at when they put Tro Lo Lo in an episode, or the highly disappointing Jojo reference ("You want to do a To Be Continued Meme?"). So I wouldn't expect anything for like 3 years down the line. And with the fleetingness of that kind of meme, the audience would have to look it up and say "oh yeah, that was a thing, wasn't it?"
@mightyfilm family guy has always been behind on the memes because of the production time, they can't be as "fresh" or "current" as Southwark with their incredibly quick turnaround
I’m sorry the scraping of the knee joke always gets me laughing lol
If you don’t call this a Christmas episode, you can’t call Die Hard a Christmas movie.
I mean, Die Hard actually does show that it's Christmas in the movie. Compare that to this episode where there were 2 mentions of it being Christmas: the opening scene with the television and the manger scene.
The best drawn out joke from this show imo is the sneakers ad one about having several families
This episode was sooooooooo bad....this entire season is incredibly bad. Like they're not even trying anymore.
Now all they have to do is make all the characters voices so loud and irritating that'll make you wanna rip out your ears and that's when you know they've truly given up
Seth doesn’t bother anymore, he’s making a lot from the show on the repeats and from idiots believing The Orville is a good show
Agreed, season 21 was actually decent.
@@bostonrailfan2427 How could you ?! The Orville is a good show !
@@daniapfel2825 no, it isn’t. it’s a ripoff of other shows and mot a good one at that. the only thing it does is make people think that it’s good but it’s the same crap that he does on every show
Show Recommendations:

1. Lost
2. His Dark Materials
3. The Crowded Room

It's SAD How Family Guy isn't even trying anymore with there Christmas Episodes these days
As an American from California, the Florida jokes never get old because they are 100% true
You should absolutely try out How I met your Mother! It's My favorite sitcom and has a lot of watchability due to all the small details in each episode. Season one is a bit basic but the series really comes into its own around season 2. Definitely give it a try!
Huh. Thank you for telling us the reference. All I know about Braveheart is the freedom bit.
In their small defense, everyone in my family does watch our streaming services on our own phones with a few movies and sports being the exclusion, the only exception is my mom who is usually using her phone to scroll social media while the tv goes lol
I LOVE the scrapped knee, conway twiddy and jagger bits. They are prime family guy.
Young Sheldon is a strangely heartwarming spin off show. Just got into it through Netflix and got addicted to
I saw the first five or so episodes on the plane and it was cute..was expecting to totally hate it. Might try it one day
The biggest improvement over TBBT: no laugh track every time someone moves a muscle!
As someone who runs out of shows OFTEN I find that one of the shows I go back to a lot is disenchantment on Netflix, it’s one of my favourite shows ever and it is one of the funniest in my opinion, it’s and animated show and is based in olden times and has a lot of mystical type stuff too it. Wizards, princesses, demons, elves, etc.
It shows a beautiful father daughter relationship that you can see grows, even though they have SO many problems you can see they love each other, apologies for going on so much but it is really one of my faves by far but I rly recommend you watch it, 10/10 definitely recommend
I feel like I’m looking for something completely different in the show since I was laughing a lot this episode XD
Yeah I’m sorry but everytime you said a joke wasn’t funny I was laughing XD.
Some shows I recommend
1. Young Sheldon on Netflix and binge, prequel to big bang theory
2. Silo on Apple TV+, deep story and lore also sci-fi but very good
3. Gravity falls on Disney, amazing animation and cartoon 2:57
Meg sounded like a ai when she said “no one streams on a single tv console, they all stream on their own Devices”
Mila Kunis clearly doesn't give a shit anymore
@@Lewis1995 Yeah
You were asking for recommendations! I just finished watching all of Ugly Betty. It’s a little bit trapped in the late 2000’s, but it has one of the best sympathetic TV villains of all-time, a great cast, and is genuinely consistently funny for the four seasons! A good watch if you haven’t already!
Just to remind everyone, before I actually watch the video- There is another Christmas special where Brian and Stewie literally murder an innocent couple after breaking into their house, because Brian decided to raid their fridge…
It was really funny though.
To be fair that one was pretty funny
i didnt realize there was a special this year because i was still rewatching the old ones..
@ 3:04 Have you seen disenchantment
Some of my favorite TV shows have come from Tumblr recommendations so that's an avenue to stroll down if you lack suggestions. It just depends on what you're into but great video! I love your work and have been a huge fan since the Treehouse of Horror Kill Counts
I really think if Kevin James played himself it would have been a very fun episode and they could have Kevin James reference Mike and Molly and all the other shows he was in
Except for the fact that Kevin James wasn’t in Mike & Molly…
@@LarsWalker-xo2jn I know I got my sitcoms confused I forgot who stared in Mike and Molly
@@dontquestionmysanity5402the big guy who got skinny who's also in as bob ❤s ashibola (?)

"ahhh ssss ahhh" was the one of the only running gags I liked lol
FOR ONCE A TH-camR WHO CARES ABOUT FLORIDA THANK GOD
4:32
They got Emily Osmet to play Hannah Montana (Banana).
1:28 it's SAD how despite the reference there going for someone being thrown out a castle I'd didn't get the joke and or didn't get what movie they we're refencing I'd bet that no body ever got that reference where going for plus if the joke wasn't funny the first time it's NOT going to be funny the second nor the third time
This is exactly why the show never won another Emmy.
As a Floridian all I can say about Family Guy’s Flordia jokes is….. they are 100% accurate 😫😭
This is a normal episode that takes place during Christmas
Meanwhile American Dad’s Christmas episode included the Smith family’s worst enemy, Santa Claus.
American Dad has a rich history of great Christmas episodes.
This season has been painfully unfunny for me, the only laugh I have had was when peter was addicted to drugs in the season opener. They need to bring the original writers and get Seth in the writing room and do another then there were fewer episode or multiverse episode. It feels like more of a chore to watch at this nowadays, I just can’t give up the show at this point.
Wouldn't be the first Time that a Show starts getting better again when Members of the old Team return
At least it's funnier than season 20
Invincible, The Boys, Gen V (The Boys Spin-off) are on Prime & Echo on Disney Plus. Highly recommended.
I thnk a show you may like is hazbin hotel as it's coming out next week on prime. But it's sister series helluva boss would be perfect as it's on youtube for free as an indie animated series and i love for you to do a timeline on the characters
That show is internet garbage and shouldn't have been greenlit. Between the "random equals funny" humor, generic tropes and plotlines, there's a reason not many people cover it or if they do *actually* watch the show and don't just goon to the obvious furry bait, it's mostly negative, especially with season 2.
And as a bisexual that shit is insulting to the LGBT community, Steven Universe did a better job showcasing queer characters and most of what they portrayed was censored. Only positives I'll give it, are the first few episodes of season 1, the designs and backgrounds, everything else is just really cringe gen z humor pandering to 13 year olds who think swearing = funni
And Vivziepop is a fan of Seth MacFarlane and whatever you could say about her shows, I'd rather watch those over family guy. I hope he guest stars or becomes a becoming character in one of her shows. Also Hazbin Hotel is gonna be on Prime. Funny given how this episode treats streaming.
Peter scraping his knee is classic tho
Honestly, you should've kept it at 1 star. This may be the worst Christmas episode ever, it may be the worst episode of the season, and it may even be the worst episode in recent times. I had started to think some of the newer Family Guy seasons were improving slightly, even if at a slow pace, but this episode just crushed that hope for me. It felt like it was written by the Velma writers with the assistance of ChatGPT. It felt bitter and resentful while not being funny. Maybe if you were a huge fan of Kevin James it might salvage it a bit through nostalgia, but honestly, this episode is the worst episode I've seen in recent time. 1/5.
That Braveheart scene runs on a loop in my head all the time.

Keep it up Lydia great video, I love the book! Haven’t had much time to read it cause work and the holidays though but from what I did I love it. 😊thanks so much.
Show recommendations… disenchantment is a pretty good watch, plus I would like to see a time line of Princess Tiabeanie (Bean) or better yet, ELFIE! 😂 I highly recommend atleast giving the show a try
Merry Christmas and happy new years
Hey Dylan, happy new years 🎉
I'm so glad you're liking the book 😊
If you have a spare minute I'd appreciate it if you could leave a quick review on Amazon or Goodreads. It really helps 😀
I tried giving Disenchantment a go but had trouble getting into it, but I have heard that it gets better as it goes on. So maybe I'll give it another go
For your TV binging situation...
1. Regular Show
2. Seinfeld
3. Breaking Bad
4. Better Call Saul
5. The Sopranos
6. Steven Universe
7. The Looney Tunes Show
8. Total Drama
9. F is for Family
10. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
I know this is the most random selection ever but just trust me, man.
I think we can all say that Family Guy really has come to the end of its journey.
Okay, but the African man scraping his knee and clicking actually made me laugh out loud, ngl
Lydia, a great show rec is the great north. I'm not sure if you've seen it yet, but it's super underrated as an adult animated sitcom imo
I guess you could call the part where Chris and Meg were told not to walk around naked a possible callback to the nudists who appeared in Family Guy
I myself personally am a nudist so i kinda wish Family Guy would bring them back rather then just make them background cameos same with Cleavlands Family
7 months later but am I the only one who noticed that the sitcom door joke at 5:16 is very similar to one made by Brian in the S7E7 episode "Ocean's Three and a Half"? Brian sarcastically mentions how there's already a lot of songs named after girls and Stewie asks Brian to name 20, and then another 6, and then another 5...
They also have the sound system by the stairs that they never use that Lois could get rid of
It definitely was one of the worst episodes they've done (among many admittedly) so far. Usually the Christmas specials are decent (Road to the North Pole was outstanding but the other ones were also at least somewhat funny). I went in being intrigued on what they were going to do with this new Christmas themed episode and I ended up more than disappointed. I second the comment left by DannTheftAuto where he suggested that they should've done a Home Alone parody with Stewie, that would've been awesome to see and unlike this Kevin James joke (where like you said, he's not even relevant anymore), Home Alone is a classic that doesn't get old and most people know the movie so this was such a missed opportunity.
Anyway, agree with the review, not a good episode at all.
As for show suggestions, I'd recommend MTV Downtown, Mission Hill, Twin Peaks, and/or Bates Motel if you haven't seen them, they're quite good :)
New sub love your vids
They should’ve had the real Kevin James voice himself, that would’ve been cool.
good honest review. much love.
It's adorable that James woods didn't get the candy joke for like...years but he did it anyway like oh well that's what they wanted lol
2:57 I recommend It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Everything is so spot on but I'm sorry the line "that happened and we all let it happen" at the end of the Jagger and Bowie music video is peak imo
Road to the North Pole is pretty good but so is that season 1 or 2 one where…actually I can’t remember what happens really. Lois gets upset about something and there’s a running gag about a tv Christmas special called kiss saves Christmas and it really captures the Christmas tv special quite well despite only seeing 3 clips. Also road to the North Pole has something kinda odd in it that lives in my head rent free. When the big car crash happens there’s a bunch of geese in a truck and one of them asks if it’s lazy but the other one says nah we’re still in the v formation and it zooms out to show them. Only they’re all leaning against the sides of the truck except for the front one which is leaning on the front. This shouldn’t be possible but due to forced perspective they make it look so
Well family guy could have asked Kevin James to voice himself but they probably didn't ask him because he would refuse because he would have been busy at the time they would ask him to gust star
But the Conway and knee scrapping gags were EPIC!
My main question is why tf Chris and Meg walk around naked together?
When I first saw the poster for this episode I was like “what is Chris doing down the stairs?”
When I was younger the Conway Twitty gags confused me because I didn't know who he was. However, my mother loved them because she would say "my father was a friend of his and they played together a few times". Not sure if that's true or not, but it made her day to see them. The knee gags feel like they've become longer and more frequent tho, and I don’t find them as funny now as I did when i was a kid.
You can't go wrong with shows like Lucifer, Futurama, Star wars, etc
I recommend The Goldbergs, Parks & Recreation, 911, How I Met Your Mother, What We Do In The Shadows, Married With Children, Malcolm In The Middle, SuperStore, Community, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Suits, King Of The Hill and Crub Your Enthusiasm
I have been rewatching ATLA, Dexter’s Laboratory, Rocko’s Modern Life, TAWOG, and Invader Zim
