  • We know that the Assassin’s Creed games from AC1 to Mirage all have a very mixed set of endings. Whether it’s good or bad or even ones that link into future games. So that’s what i’m going to do in this video. This is ranking the Assassin’s Creed games based on their endings from worst to best.

    Assassin's Creed is an open-world, action-adventure, and stealth game franchise published by Ubisoft and developed mainly by its studio Ubisoft Montreal using the game engine Anvil and its more advanced derivatives. Created by Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond, and Corey May, the Assassin's Creed video game series depicts a fictional millennia-old struggle between the Order of Assassins, who fight for peace and free will, and the Knights Templar, who desire peace through order and control. The series features historical fiction, science fiction, and fictional characters intertwined with real-world historical events and historical figures. In most games, players control a historical Assassin while also playing as an Assassin Initiate or someone caught in the Assassin-Templar conflict in the present-day framing story. Considered a spiritual successor to the Prince of Persia series, Assassin's Creed took inspiration from the novel Alamut by the Slovenian writer Vladimir Bartol, based on the historical Hashashin sect of the medieval Middle East.

    "if only i had the humility to say to myself i've seen enough for one life i have done my part" This quote alone shows you just how much of a beautiful send off AC Revelations was made as and then Ezio talking to Desmond and his retirement being made by this very quote Ezio got to witness such a eye watering and heart shattering moment

    I (re)played Brotherhood for the first time on PC this year, and got that bug where the cutscene for the final fight with Cesare doesn’t trigger. It turned out you have to fiddle around with graphics settings, and I think refresh rate settings, and FINALLY it worked. Never had that on console, that I remember.

  • @AndreHeitor666
    @AndreHeitor666 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +45

    I remember in the Brotherhood novel (read it a many years ago) Ezio, Leonardo and I think La Volpe chase after Cesare for a few chapters, tying in that gap.
    On the other hand the AC2 book, I hated how it handled Cristina's death. That whole part of Ezio's story is so so important for his character and the book absolutely butchered it.

    • @levisimon5237
      @levisimon5237 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You mean Cristina's part didn't expand on what was shown in AC Brotherhood (game)?

    • @AndreHeitor666
      @AndreHeitor666 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@levisimon5237 it was incredibly downplay. Some events I think happen, like the carnaval one, but the story of her husband being threatened and her dying in Ezios arms doesn't. In the book Ezio knows of it because Leonardo casually tells him about it. It was so infuriating, like she was so important to Ezio and then her death gets reduced to that.

    Disagree on unity, it makes sense that Elise would go after Germain rather than help Arno, the entire game Elise only cares about killing Germain, and she still cares for Arno but revenge is her main goal. I think the ending is actually great, its real, there isn't any last second change where Elise realizes that Arno is more important than revenge or any last words between the two; she just dies, straight up, I enjoy it. Now was Elise's choice a bad decision? yes, but characters can make bad decisions if it makes sense for their character which for Elise I believe it does.

    As much as I love Origins, the ending is one of the weakest parts. That final fight as Aya is rough since you've almost never played her before and her skill tree is terrible and you're forced to use weapons you have likely ignored.
    I'm amused that I saw Syndicate at 9th and thought "I'm surprised it's so high". The whole everything with the Queen was just so cringe.
    I'd put Odyssey above Origins, I got the Everyone's Dead ending my first time, but a full family reunion on my second playthrough, which was satisfying. But the real ending of Odyssey is a hundred hours later after you finish both DLC and go on vacation and fight one more Apple of Eden and get the final cutscene.

    • @unc54
      @unc54 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I found Origins as a whole had a very lackluster story. It's completely reliant on Bayek, who himself shines moreso due to the excellent VA performance by Abubakar Salim rather than the character writing, and is your typical revenge plot. Aya felt she had a lot more going on but we weren't shown any of it (largely because behind the scenes they kept reducing her presence and pumping up Bayek).
      And the biggest offense to me is how little the story cared about the "origins of the Assassins". They had 10 years of lore to work with and the best they could do was contain it to the last hour of a 30 hour campaign and even then it felt so superficial. Just cutscenes of stuff happening, no exploration of philosophy, some lame boss fights, and the very forced idea of having a creed.

    There multiple different endings to talk about in this series: Base game ending, ending to the modern day, Order of the Ancients/Cult of Cosmos ending with the villain reveal, and the official epilogue of the game whether it be a DLC like the Hidden Ones DLC in Origins and the Dead Kings DLC in Unity or an add on like The Last Chapter in Valhalla and the vacation storyline in Odyssey.

    A little late, and idk if someone already said it, but Ezio didn't kill Rodrigo Borgia in the ending of AC2 because he wasn't assasinated/killed in real life, like Cesare Borgia, or Ceasar from AC Odyssey. If I remember correctly, he died by either suicide or old age. It is quite nice that Ubisoft adds real life characters that were either assasinated or killed and makes it look that their assassin is our protagonist.

    I have to disagree with the position of Revelations. Yes, having Altair and Ezio "meeting" at the end was epic. But from the modern narrative perspective, the game was sheer placeholder. For a game called "Revelations", nothing was actually revealed that we didn't know yet. Hence, the modern ending of Revelations is midrange at best.

    • @unc54
      @unc54 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that Revelations was a cash grab game, but it was a well-made one that gave itself narrative purpose. Putting aside concluding Ezio's story and fleshing out Altair, from a modern-day standpoint it was able to tie the end of Brotherhood to 3 by showing Desmond's healing process and it also told Desmond what had killed the First Civ, how they had planned to combat it, and where he needed to go.

    I love Origins, but I feel the developers or writers ran out of time and needed to shorten the story because like 90% of the game is Bayek and Aya being all "lets work with Ceasar and Cleopatra to takedown and kill the leaders of the corrupt government of Egypt responsible for the death of our son because we want personal revenge and nothing more" only then all of a sudden in like the last two hours of the game they're at the beach like "hey lets start a secret order of assassins that kill anyone trying to stamp out free will and lets promote freedom and liberty to not just Egypt but the entire human race and make sure no one uses the Isu tech for power and make a creed and rituals for all the members of our new group must adhere to... also that shape in the sand that the skull made when I dropped it can become our groups logo".

Not including AC 2, very good game and ending. I feel both Origins and Unity had the ground work to have amazing endings. They both had really good gameplay and a somewhat entertaining story up to that point. But both games the ending just falls flat. I actually thought Valhalla had a decent ending. We had excitement in the modern-day for the first time in years and it tied together a lot of loose lore from over the years. Honestly, the actual narrative of Valhalla is pretty solid, it's just bogged down by so much filler.
    Like if the game was made in the classic format the story would have been so much more engaging and would be a great spinoff formula, where we explore other aspects of AC lore beyond Assassins and Templars.

    My least favorite is Valhalla, and it has nothing to do with Basim. It was our last moment with the King of England. No fights. Just a talk and that was it. I don't know the history of the King and I'm sure he wasn't killed, but I was expecting a fight of some sort.
    With Odyssey, sometimes all it takes is words and not blows. The mind can be a powerful thing.

    Valhalla’s had to be my least favorite; they killed off Layla Hassan too soon, which was my reason why. Rogue had to be my second least favorite because we weren’t able to, well, choose between the Templar Order or die. I don’t have a favorite so far, but I’ll have one in the future.

    Anyone else feel like after 3 and black flag that every character just had a sudden drop in depth and personality? It’s so hollow now like they have no energy, or no direction from the VA director. Idk, every game since black flag has felt insanely lacklustre. Origin changed things slightly with the overhaul of the combat system and the real introduction of the hidden ones. But even at that, majority of the characters felt bland, like they had no depth to them. Bayek was sick and just rage filled, I think he would’ve been a much better character if they didn’t switch up on us at the end and force us to not use him.
    Also!! I’m on your top 3, this thought has came to me. Remember how they used cutscenes for the modern day for a time, didddddnt abstergo get the shroud of Eden and then didn’t Shaun and Rebecca try get it? What if they actually have got it, and that we are actually going to get a fully modern game with two protagonists with basim as the antagonist. The two protagonists being, Desmond and Layla.

    I really wish the Hordafylke arc was the last arc you do for Valhalla's story rather than the Hamtunscire arc.
    The ending with the modern day, excluding The Last Chapter, and the scene with Eivor being appointed Jarl with everyone singing was great to watch and felt fitting as an ending, though I do wish we got 2-3 more arcs with Sigurd to make his choice in the end more impactful. While Hamtunscire does finish up conquering England and leads up to finishing the Order of the Ancients storyline and you do lose a number of your allies it just felt unsatisfying and unfitting as an ending to the base game. Sure its like an epilogue and you are finally conquering England but it felt like a middle chapter than an ending to the story. Not to mention the choice to spare or kill the final boss in that arc is completely pointless.

      Agreed. I think Ubi totally fluked the whole web of the order/cultists, it had so much potential. Keeping it seperate from the territory arcs and doing it on your own made the end feel so disjointed and like there was no real ending, but 3 seperate endings for killing off the order, conquering all the territories, and the Norse god lore of the brothers and basim. Wish they could’ve found a way to tie in all 3. Same with odyssey, felt like 2 seperate endings

      @@jaxthaxton2703 Valhalla and Odyssey do kind of have the same types of storylines.
      Odyssey has the family storyline with reuniting the family, dismantling the Cult of Kosmos with their leader being the one behind it, and the Atlantis storyline with accepting the Staff of Hermes.
      Valhalla has the family storyline with Eivor and Sigurd searching for Valhalla and rescuing Sigurd and Eivor dealing with her father's death plus Eivor becoming the jarl, dismantling the Order of the Ancients with again the leader being behind it all, and conquering England for the Raven Clan.
      Though with Valhalla conquering England and the family storyline are both part of the main story and the Order of the Ancients is main and side content while with Odyssey the family storyline is the main story while the Cult of Kosmos is both main and side content and the Atlantis storyline is the epilogue to Kassandra's/Alexios's journey in Odyssey.
      With Valhalla I mainly wish more of the story arcs had tied into the Eivor and Sigurd storyline and focusing on Eivor's character rather than being mainly about making new alliances. It made the story feel so disjointed plus a lot of these alliance arcs didn't push the story but rather just gave Eivor an ally to fight in Suthsexe and Hamtunscire.

      @@TheHiddenOne690 I mean the beach scene was the most emotional scene in the entire game apart from the hidden ones dlc ending. And it just hits the feels when Aya picks up the the eagle skull from the sand to reveal that’s the origin of the assassin’s emblem. From that point on the hidden ones are born. I guess it’s just the sentimentality of it that’s hits hard for me.

    Unity's ending was indeed bad. The whole story feels like it has so much potential and that there was supposed to be some follow-up. Alas, Arno was quite a simp and easily succumbed to emotions. If he truly cared about Elise and her safety, at some point he should've just slapped her and told her to stay put good old James Bond style, whilst going to fight Germain himself. Alas we don't have this type of chad, decisive strong male characters in the modern era anymore. Anyway, the game making me very intigued with these fictional characters and their fates goes to show how well the story was presented and how much potential it held, it's a shame the writers just pointlessly killed her off. On another note other AC endings also weren't great but they weren't as disappointing probably because their stories weren't as interesting as this one.
