ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER!
I concur ❤
They knew they had a hit with that CHORUS! Great song and better request.
So happy to see salvog loving our 80s ❤beats
80s always delivery 🥰
I lived through the 80's and didn't remember this song. But Napoleon Dynamite made me love it! 😁
Never heard it before! I was an 80’s girl
It just brought it back to our attention ❤
Been listening to this song since '88 Quintessential 80's song ❤
Yesss, thank you Sal! And Scott, this is a great request!
The very definition of One Hit Wonder
After When in Rome, you should check out Johnny Hates Jazz if you haven't already. They were also from England, made it big in 1987, stayed popular for one album and a few singles, and dropped like a fly after that. They were also synth-y sophisti-pop. Shattered Dreams and Turn Back the Clark are worth listening to.
Love this song. Always have. Great choice! Yes, one hit wonder.
I’m listening to this tonight and I’m 25 again.
This tune never misses an 80'S pop playlist for me.
Great reaction! You should react to "If You Leave" by OMD (Orchestral Maneuvres in the Dark) next. You'll love it.
Oh yes!!
I already suggested OMD, think he will love them!
Back in the day, I was bummed too that they didn't release more songs, but that one song, "Promise", made up for it 😊
Tons of New Retro Wave Synth artist out there doing the 80's thing. So Good!
Awesome request Scott!! LOVE this song so much!!
I used to listen to this song on repeat - owned the cassette single for it! 🙂❤
I've always loved this song! It came out when I was in college back in 1988. When that chorus kicks in, it hooks you.
Simplemente maravillosa!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love this song so much. Danced and sweat to it in the 80s and still include it in almost every playlist I create. Great choice Scott and as always, great work Sal!
You asked for it, (synth), you got it!
Great reaction to a great song. When you get the chance, you should listen to Sturgill Simpson's cover of it - talk about a completely different take on a song - it's amazing.
Scott, thanks for this, love this song! I had friends who were DJ's and got me into mixing. I have the 12" extended mix of this, it's incredible! Sal, this is very representative of the music in the alternative dance clubs in the mid 80/early 90's. Groups like New Order, Book of Love, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Thompson Twins, Tears For Fears, I can go on and on. Sure was fun in those days!!!
I always loved this song since the very first time I heard it on the radio in 1988 . It's part of my favorites play list ❤ Thanks Sal , for reacting to 80s music.
We heard this during "dedication hour" once or twice on the radio... *giggles* Subbed, you passed the vibe test. :)
Thank You Salvo, I absolutely love this song! 🥰🥰 Have you done Boy Meets Girl yet? Waiting
For A Star To Fall is one of my all time favorites!😊😊
Oh I remember that song it was good!
For me this is "the pure 80' s song" with ASTEC CAMERA" Somewhere in my heart" .
Love this song! I ran out and bought the cassingle after hearing it on the radio the first time lol. Omg all the feels!
"Its got a good beat and I can dance to it" ..an infamous 80s quote lol.
One of my favorite song, yeah!
I still have this CD. Great song!
Woke up to this on my radio alarm today. My alarm I have a radio station that plays 70s, 80s, and 90s. Great songs.
This is one of my Top 10 Songs of all time! ♥
Dude, you’re finding all the classics from my high school years. After your love for Erasure, I hoped someone would send you this! Love your reactions so much! Keep it up!!!! Next up Alphaville (Forever Young, especially), and Depeche Mode! ❤️
Going to throw this song out there again that I am sure you will like. "Captain of Her Heart" from the group Double.
i love this song!.. great video! XD
Great reaction Salvo!! I can attest to this being a hit when it came out (at least here in Canada) - short lived, but a hit! That synth groove is infectious, but that chorus is incredible! Funny how some things just don't take off!
If you'd like to try another one-hit wonder, check Kiss You When It's Dangerous - by Eight Seconds. Group out of Ottawa, Canada. It's got another killer hook! Cheers.
I still have that CD!
I discovered this song from Napoleon Dynamite XD I love it so much lol
Hi Salvo, Have you ever heard or reacted to any Pet Shop Boys songs? They have been releasing music since 1985, and just released a new album recently. "West End Girls", "It's a Sin", "Heart", "What Have I Done to Deserve This?", "Domino Dancing", "So Hard", "Being Boring", and many other of their songs are catchy, beautiful ear candy, if you love 80s synth pop! 🎉
Masterpiece ❤
I,love this song! I think one of the singers sounds a bit like Michael Hutchence of inxs.
So now you have to check out Superfruit’s cover of this song. I think you will love it
He has already reacted to it…quite awhile ago ☺️
I think I had every remix of this song that was put out! I got to see them live last year at the Lost 80's tour. I cried when they played this!
I grew up in the 70s and in the 80s I was really surprised at how much synth-pop music I enjoyed and added to my music collection. I had forgotten this song until I heard it at the end of "Napoleon Dynamite" and I still remembered the lyrics. I love this song. I totally understand your reaction.
still one of my fave songs and yes it is on my playlist!
I love the dichotomy between the two singers. One is bald and one has the hair of Hercules.
yes. only one album. but listen to it all. the first 'side' of the lp is terrific all around.
🇬🇧 I was 24 yo in 1988 & I have never heard this song before!? Guttered too, I enjoyed it. 🎼🎶👍
The sound of the late 80's.
I love this song! It reminds me of the late 80s when I was starting high school. Very nostalgic!
We totally got into this one - we heard it from a tape version of the album from a bargain bin at Best Buy for $3. The whole album is great. I was surprised they were Brits from 88... they look more like Canadians from 95-ish.
It was awesome and I still lovvvve it! :) ~Gen X Grandma
Thank you.Really.Thank you.
This song was HUGE at the gay clubs in the late 80's into the early 90's!!
Every time this song came on at the club my friend and I practically ran each other over trying to get to the dance floor.
A song that you feel
Another great, interesting 80s song is Life in a Northern Town. These are always the songs that interested me from that decade - not the ballads of Chicago or stuff by Madonna.
Love The Dream Academy. He should do Real Life - Send Me an Angel, which is along the same line.
🎉
" Everything " had a lot of potential.
" The Promise " is a favorite of mine.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
"Send Me An Angel' from Real Life!!!!
Soooooo many drunken karaoke nights..
You have heard this before…Superfruit covered it. It was their last song together as Superfruit. I actually prefer Superfruit’s version ☺️. (You reacted to it two years ago).
In this same vein of synth-pop ... PLEASE listen to "True Faith" by New Order.
It's still a good song.
You like synth pop from the 1980s? Here's another one-hit wonder for you: "You Don't Know" by Scarlett & Black (1988, reached #20 on the Billboard Top 100, and #13 on the Adult Contemporary chart).
I bet you’d like "Something About You" by Level 42. Similar awesomeness.
When are you going to open up your Patreon to more folks Salvo?
The hot one with the long hair is constantly posing for the camera in the video. It's funny. Just count the number of hair flips he does throughout the video. But I guess if I had hair like his I'd have trouble keeping my hands off it too.
React to New Radicals - You Get What You Give, another incredibile 1 hit wonder.
this is at the end of napoleon dynamite, when napoleon is punching the swing ball around the post - makes me laff out loud every time he punches it.....song goes superb with the emotion of the scene! - excellent!

Have you reacted to Human League? When I think of the 80s I think of their song Don't You Want Me?
I suggest reviewing some Alphaville or Real Life.
Now let's check out Sturgill Simpson's cover...
I prefer the original 12inch dance mix. There were two dance mixes. One was called the”colosseum mix.” It was horrible. They threw in every sound effect available and it overwhelms the song.
