    That was sweet of you to let us know that there weren't any competition between the two of you, but really, that wasn't necessary! It really shows both how different your personalities are but also how respectful and supportive you are with each other. Honestly, the energy between you two is another reason why I love your podcast videos (along with your great knitting, obviously).
    Thank you for such a lovely 2023 garment round up!

    Fun fact: the airy quality in Brooklyn Tweed yarn that you mentioned is because it's "woolen spun" rather than "worsted spun" (not related to worsted weight). Basically, it means that the fibers were all jumbled up and going in different directions when they were spun instead of being combined to lie in the direction of the yarn. This creates the airiness you described, which makes the yarn warmer and less dense than woolen spun yarns.

    I really recommend split splicing to join ends of wool. It made my knittinglife so much easier. I use a sharp needle to unwind the yarn and thin it out a bit, then form an V on both ends and slide those into each other, wet it and rub it between my hands to felt it a bit. This builds a strong connection and it’s invisible.

    This is 7 months late, but your lovely Levitate wrap cardi looks so cosy. You can tether the inside front flap with ribbon (ribbon let’s you adjust it where a snap or button won’t, and can be completely invisible.) You sew a length of narrow 1/4 inch narrow ribbon to the corner edge of the inside front flap, and a corresponding ribbon length to the other side under the arm where a seam would be it it had been seam, at a height the the same as your inside front flap hits. Easiest way is to turn your sweater inside out to mark where ribbons go. Think of a ballet wrap top. Ties at the inside and the outside. Hope you see this so you can really love your sweater!

    To secure a hanging flap. Try to crochet or knit a string at the corner of the flap and also a string inside the opposite side seam about 2 inches from the bottom of the garment to tie in a bow.

    I love all your sweaters! You guys both have such a good eye for color. I’m also on a mission to knit a sweater out of KFO now because of all your projects using it lol.
    Also, Brooklyn tweed loft is a woolen spun yarn which means it has a lot more air in it and the fibers are going in different directions when spun where as a worsted spun yarn is smooth, more dense and all the fibers are parallel when spun. I learned this when i started spinning and it has helped me understand yarn so much more! Woolen spun is lighter weight, blooms more and is warmer but worsted spun has more drape and a smoother texture and had more yards per pound(grist).

    Beautiful bounty of knitting from you ladies. I took note and put a few of the patterns into my favorites on Ravelry. I saw a sweater at the thrift store recently and it inspired me to try a bit of yarn embroidery this coming year. I looove the look of yarn embroidery on a neutral colored, basic pattern in stockinette. The Cumulus Tee or Miles Tee are looking like good candidates (maybe not - idk, haha) for my first venture. I’m thinking it’ll be an excellent way to use up some small bits of scrap yarn too. P.S. I bet you all are more aware of your back curvature than anyone else would ever notice. That back bow top was adorable in the worn pic!!!

    It’s great to watch your podcast, as I get inspiration on projects to start. I saw the Pi camisole on one of the earlier episodes and was immediately inspired to start it. Then I saw the Mey camisole on the designer’s IG and knitted that instead. I wouldn’t have found one of my favorite camisoles if it weren’t for your podcast, so thank you!

    This was such a great video! I've only reacently discovered your channel so it was so nice to see everything you've knit so far, I loved all of them! I'm not sure if i'm just not understanding correctly what you were saying when you were expaining how you catch floats, but there's a way of catching them without actually having to pick the balls of yarn and move them about! I'm not sure how to explain it but i'm sure there's lots of video tutorials that would show you!! 🥰

      Ohh we have to find this! I would say because we’re English knitters, colorwork has always been a bit tedious so anything to make it easier would be so helpful out there! 😊💛

    • @MoarKnits
      @MoarKnits 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't even think about the fact that the technique uses to two hands, oops!🙈 I'm an english style knitter too and when I first strated doing colourwork I was picking up and twisting the yarn too but It got really tedious for me so I taught myself how to hold the second strand in my left hand so I could easily catch the floats and not have to let go of the yarn! It does take a lot of getting used to though, i'm definitely an english style knitter at heart 😂@@thosetwinswhoknit

      Thank you so much! 💛 I actually only held the yarn single for this one! I looked back at my ravelry notes and I made a note that I went up a needle size, but the pattern calls for US 2.5 and I don’t own 3.5 needles so I must have only used a US 3 for this one. The stockinette makes it pretty simple so it can go fast though. :) although sometimes if it’s so simple like that I lose interest so it’s a bit of a tricky one 😅

    If you are interested in trying to keep the Another Summer Open Back Top in your wardrobe, I think it would look really cute over an A-line dress! Then you're still covered and it wouldn't accentuate scoliosis, and the crop looks like it would hit around the hem line of a dress. Just a thought if you wanted to find a way to keep it as a usable piece.

    1:13:55 you could knit a lace panel into the back of the top so skin would be shown/ the pattern concept would been intact but hide the uneven spine.

      That is a good question! I’ve only had one other garment I would say pilled really significantly and it was a single ply yarn, but I don’t know that it ever stopped pilling. 😅 it eventually got holes, I think from how loose the fibers from only one ply was, and I had to get rid of it. The rest was too felted to try to save the yarn even. I love the look of one ply yarn so much but I just can’t do it because of it 😅

      The neck on the pattern is pretty tight fitting, so I was actually okay with it stretching a little! It really hasn’t stretched a lot though. :) I think my biggest advice would be to pick a yarn you don’t find stretchy because it does sit so close to the neck!

    Just curious: How do you get to wear so many different pullover/cardigans? And there are probably more from years previous?
    Just in comparison: I wear a regular (storebought) pullover over a T-shirt for about a week before I wash it. Which means I cycle through my favorite maybe 3 Pullovers in the cold season a couple times. By now I do have some knitted Pullovers (one too warm for regular use, and another I really do love,...) but I do have troubles to understand how every pullover you made gets the attention it well decerves (because they truly are gorgeous as previous comments say as well). And I'm not yet going into the discussion that wool is selfcleaning and could (theoretically) be worn longer before needing a wash...
    But I genually wonder do you change your Pullovers dayly or how do you do this?
    I know maybe a weird question to ask... and if you feel it's too personal please ignore ... I'm just trying to figure this out for quite some time now... - It also might be a culturally thing - things being common in one place and different in another...

    • @thosetwinswhoknit
      @thosetwinswhoknit  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! Thanks for the question! To be honest, not all our sweaters get all the attention they probably deserve. We love to knit and we love to make sweaters, so a good part of our enjoyment is just the process of knitting itself. We definitely tend to have some favorites that we reach for often, and some sweaters sometimes go a long time in between wears. If we find we truly aren’t wearing something, we’ll usually give it to each other to see if it’ll get more use, but if neither of us think we’ll continue to get use out of a sweater we’ll frog or donate it!

    • @thosetwinswhoknit
      @thosetwinswhoknit  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also, I forgot to add this, but we tend to go a very long time between washes! To non knitters, it may seem kind of gross, but we usually wear an undershirt to help, and as you mentioned, wool and other natural protein based fibers tend to not hold onto smells, so thankfully it hasn’t been much of an issue 😅
