Healing begins with extending forgiveness towards our parents who were/are not perfect, and in fact sinners - similar to who we are. Forgiving is the key - as our Heavenly Father forgives us; this instead of harbouring resentment and fostering a root of bitterness.
His son is distracting himself from connecting with himself as he didn't learn that in his childhood because his dad has been too busy and distracted to connect with his child. That's why he has to distract himself with something and most likely with addictions. That's how addictions are formed, when you don't have the attention of your caregivers in your early ages
Some of us were treated exactly the same and do the same to our children, not knowing any better. I know because I am one of them. Our parents treated us basically like animals. Fend for yourself! So in return, we do the same to our children not intentional but based on what we know and how we were treated ourselves. Then when you’re older and you realize what you have done, you try to make it better and sometimes it’s not easy, especially when your children have turned out with the hate, addictions, etc..
Thank you so much for watching the video and for sharing your thoughtful insight. You're absolutely right-our childhood experiences shape so much of who we are, and a lack of connection early on can lead to struggles later in life. It’s so important to understand and heal from these patterns. I truly appreciate you taking the time to engage with the content and share your perspective
@@Alicia-sk2oc Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for watching the video. ❤ I truly understand what you’re saying. It’s so easy to repeat what we were taught, especially when we didn’t know any better. The important thing is that you recognize it now and want to make things better, and that’s a huge step. I’m sending you strength and understanding, and I hope things improve with time. You’re doing your best, and that matters. Thank you again for opening up and being a part of this conversation. 🙏
@@rudinaalbaniaWell, if he existed, and if he created people in his image with all his brillant mind, then he failed big time. You can’t explain away stillborns, natural disasters, a “god” committing multiple genocides. It must be nice to not know enough and therefore be able to believe in something that’s awfully immoral, unethical, condemning, sadistic (remember the pointless atrocities your “god” did to poor Hiob AND his family, and the babies, animals and multiple other people he massacred worldwide and then again in Egypt?) dictator in the sky who is composed of way older gods, which can be easily looked up since each and every religion is entirely man made.
Gabor Maté is helping many of us that have been through the same exact thing! I thank God for allowing me to come across him and what he is doing to help so many wounded people. With all due respect, thank you, Gabor Maté, you are doing outstanding work! I always look forward to, watching anything that you post.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Dr. Gabor Maté's insights truly resonate with many of us, and it's wonderful to see the positive impact he's having.
Wow, this video touched my heart in ways I didn’t expect. Dr. Gabor Maté speaks about family relationships and healing in such a raw and honest way-it’s something we can all relate to. Sometimes, we carry so much pain from our past, especially with those closest to us, and we don’t even realize how it’s affecting our lives today. Watching this made me reflect on my own relationships with my family. I’ve struggled with feeling distant from my parents and wondering if it’s even possible to repair those bonds. Dr. Maté’s message gives me hope that healing is possible if we’re willing to take responsibility for what we carry inside. If you’ve ever felt disconnected from a parent, child, or loved one, I highly recommend watching this video. It’s not just a lesson on family-it’s a lesson on love, forgiveness, and taking the first step toward healing. Please share your thoughts after watching-what resonated with you the most? Have you had similar experiences in your family? Let’s start a conversation here because I think so many of us are looking for that connection and understanding. #HealingFamilyRelationships, #DrGaborMaté, #FamilyTrauma, #EmotionalHealing, #ReconnectWithFamily, #BreakTraumaCycle, #FamilyHealingJourney, #GenerationalHealing
I wish Gabor could speak to the whole world, even for just ten minutes a day. We are all caught in a loop of generational trauma, confused, afraid and easily manipulated. A constant stream of advertisements, a manufactured sense of urgency and scarcity along with an unending stream of misinformation has brought us to a tumultuous precipice globally. I speak to strangers, when grocery shopping, just a few kind words or something humorous, it costs nothing to brighten someone’s day. People are so different now, a good percentage of them have, what I call, empty eyes, it feels to me like a loss of hope or disconnection from self and others, they just don’t respond to kind words or light hearted humor. I find myself in a place of calm acceptance and am living in quiet heartfelt gratitude of each moment, if I’m washing dishes, I am enjoying the warm water, the feel of it on my hands, the smooth surface of the plate….. but then I’m reminded that so many are suffering w/o water, even to drink, to live…. agony, gut wrenching and I feel the absence of hope welling up in me…. I speak to it, the agony and I accept it once again, that these are the times we are in, that I am doing what i can, that I am enough, that this food will last until next payday, that this too shall pass. May you know peace in abundance this very moment.
Thank you for sharing your feelings. Rehealing a broken family takes time, love, and understanding, but it’s possible. Stay strong and take small steps toward rebuilding connections. Wishing you all the best on this journey, and thank you so much for watching the video!
That one line , "Children absorb the stress of their parents". I still get anxiety when I have to visit my parents, and I am 50. They never did the inner work. Even when I did.. I still need tremendous disapline to defect their negative attitudes. ❤😔
It's tough when we carry the weight of our family's issues, even into adulthood. Remember, your healing journey is a personal one, and it's okay to set boundaries for your own well-being. take care always

Look at families in this Gaza genocide. How they look out for each other
It's heartbreaking to see the struggles families face in such difficult situations. Their resilience in looking out for each other is truly inspiring.
