As long as the Sorry Girls exist so should from the Workshop Floor. This is such a gem of a show that I really look forward to every week. Happy Saturday everyone!
I don't remember where I heard it, but I hold on to "future you is so proud of the fact that you kept going". I'm always trying to be gentle with and proud of past me, which means there is a future me doing the same to who I am now.
@@TheSorryGirlsit actually is a quote from Steven Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, it is the 5th Habit, "Seek first to understand, then be understood." Great book!
Best piece of advice I ever received was this: discipline is simply remembering what you really want. This blew my mind when I first heard it. It totally changed my perspective on doing hard things.
The advice that Becky gave Rachel about there never being a good time made me emotional 😢. My mom, who recently passed away, said this to me about 10 years ago, when I was chatting with her about important life decisions. It really stuck with me, and has made me a little braver in accepting change and new challenges!
Best piece of advice that really stuck with me: "Don't try to make lemonade out of a dry lemon" it's quirky but I've spent SO MUCH of my life putting sooo much energy into something that just couldn't give any back to me. Investing in bad friendships and relationships, etc. Kinda like "Don't be mad at the sun for shinning" don't put energy in being upset about things that just are
The thing that stuck with me was "When nobody sees you, make others feel seen". I had just moved to a new town, I felt alone and friendless and this helped me in so many ways. It made me show gratitude to others like the mailmen or the cashier at the local coffee shop or just at parties I attended, I complimented people more and showed more interest in them first, lowering my guard in the process and then receiving so much positivity back. It was insane.
The best thing I have ever been told is that ‘Ending the pain just passes it on to another’ and that quite honestly has stopped a lot of darker moments.
My first piece of advice that really stuck with me was from my dad and he said, "Hurt people hurt people. People that are hurting inside hurt other people to make themselves feel better."
Becky, I hear you with SAD. I feel like my mom was always ahead of the curve with that one but she just didn’t know it. Her phrase is “get some sunshine on your eyeballs”. Doesn’t mean you have to go for a 5 mile hike, but just being outside and letting the light hit your face and taking a pause. Moms just know sometimes.
So many Inspirational and interesting stories and qoutes in this ❤ thank you! An amazing advice i once got was ‚if it‘s out of your hands, it deserves to be freed from your mind too‘ which really stuck with me regarding overthinking and worrying.
I always remember "make your bed in the morning, so that no matter what happens that day, you accomplished something that day." Love this series, thank you so much for the fun Saturday morning.
I went ahead and rewatched the robot bar cart video and still WOW. It is hard to top that one, great project and excellent work Becky! It is so corky, soooo cute❤ Wonder if you can find another iconic object to dupe? Also, any chance we’ll have a new miniature video? Pretty please? There was a comment on office room makeover video suggesting creating a miniature something in between the metal cabinets and I can’t stop thinking about it 😅
As curious as I am about some of the potential answers I love that you don't make everyone answer every question! Such a healthy smooth way of respecting boundaries!
Rochelle, as a curly girl, it was indeed lifechanging when I realized (all by myself) at the tender age of 28 that leaving conditioner in your hair is the way to go!
I think someone describing Michael Cera as adorkable is accurate. Also, Rachel, I love your ability to problem solve. Thanks for keeping me company while I crochet.
Rochelle I wanna hug you for that first kiss experience! No one should feel the need to have anything accomplished that seems like everyone has already had. Especially when it's such a vulnerable thing 🖤🩶🤍💜
I paused the video early on, Becky, to chat about battling S.A.D. I live near Seattle, so this used to be a massive struggle for me, where I would have a hard time getting out of bed from Fall through mid May. I'd love to share some tips! Instead of sitting in front of my happy lamp, I put it in my living room window (with my sheer curtains in front of it) which helps to make it feel the same way as it would feel if the sun were shining through the window. Then I can clean, read emails, etc while also benefiting from it. The most impactful change I've done though is to take a vitamin D supplement right when I wake up, which helps to give me energy simply just get out of bed. This one tip has been life changing for me, honestly. Most Seattleites are Vitamin D deficient, and I believe the same is true for people in your area since the climate is similar. I hope some of these tips benefit you!! Ps. I love "From the workshop floor", especially the ones where I get to know you all better and/or learn something! Thank you for everything you've taught me along the way!! xoxo Erin
One piece of advice that has really stuck with me is “never take criticism from someone you wouldn’t go to for advice.” Easier said than done, but wow did that hit me the first time I heard it.
Definitely one of the best workshop floor episodes to date! So personal so bonding not just between the four of you but feeling bonded to the four of you and yeah, for the one who wants to make it happen, my first kiss was one I forced by losing a bet……..
First book that impacted me was "Love you Forever" a children's book i was obsessed with. "love you forever, like you for always, as long as I live, my baby you will be"
Who's all here the morning after to say thank you Rachael for saying to immediately get out of bed and reward yourself with water🙋♀forced myself to not pick up my phone and drink water instead and it felt sooo good
love the 'advice' given to each of you & [all watching]...including the curly hair advice prior to the availability of the internet. Thank you for another great video!
I look forward to watching this show every Saturday. I've been following along for so many years I lost track, and love how inspired I get from watching all of your videos. 💖 When my husband (then boyfriend) and I needed new side tables I made him help me build the floating Ikea hack ones from 2018 and we still use them!
This is your best episode of worshop floor yet. It felt personal. It felt relatable. It felt encouraging. It felt seen. I feel seen, and like Ive just shared stories and bonded with you all as well. Between the advice and the vulnerabilities, this video was so warming. Thank you ladies ❤ ^side note, as a fellow Canadian whos been watching for year's- when I moved abroad to Europe for the last 2 years and recently moved back home, while I was gone watching your weekly content hearing familiar accents made me feel less homesick. There is just something about you girl's that makes your audience feel connected. So thank you for being there for us, showing up each week❤
From the workshop floor is one of my most favorite things I look forward to each week, and especially living in the states, this week I need some Sorry Girls especially in my life.
My first piece of advice that I remember I actually took to heart and wrote down was about grief, that it's an ocean, and fresh grief is the middle of the ocean in a big storm and the waves are constant and seem unending, but over time the storm will calm. The waves will never stop coming, it's the ocean after all, but they won't be so high or scary or pull you under anymore. It helped me a lot with dealing with grief. The waves are still here, but they're closer to ripples now, and I can swim, so whenever the next storm hits I'm not as helpless as I was before.
It was so sweet hearing your stories of your youth !!! ❤❤❤❤ first kiss kindergarten I just love it because it’s should be that way just being kids and then you matured into your older crushes it’s just so sweet. You turned out to be amazing ladies.
In reference to whay Rach was saying here 27:03 , I have felt that everything happens for a reason since I was really young. Maybe days-years after a certain thing happens, I can link it to something else that will come up that made me think "wow. If xyz thing hadn't happened, this current thing would have never been an option." My husband has always had issues with depression/anxiety when bad things happen. He can tend to go very dark pretty quickly, but thanks to the way I can see links between things that happen, I tend to point out the links or "silver linings" and slowly he has started to pick up on things like that with me. It has helped him a LOT (at first though, he would find it very irritating). He doesn't tend to go down as hard or turn so dark when things happen anymore. These days he will be like "this thing/event really sucks now, but I know it will likely open a door for something later". It's been such a great way to deal with life when he puts it together that way. I'm glad that's the habit of mine that he took up instead of my craft supply hoarding 😅
I wrote down Becky's quote. I'm an overthinker. "When you're overthinking something, ask yourself "Is this a helpful thought, or a hurtful thought?". Thanks Becky 🧡
The butterfly effect part really got to me 😅 I bought my house 3 years ago, and I recently drove past one of the other houses I looked at. If I hadn't ended up with my house I wouldn't have met my neighbors who are some of my favorite people, and their sons who are like nephews to me.
My boyfriend & I don’t sleep with our phones even in our bedroom. We keep them in the kitchen or living room. Been doing it that way for two years & I’ve felt amazing.
I need to see one of these magnets!!!!❤Also wait Kelsey is a dancer 😮❤, can we see? (Not pushing) Also had a crazy thought....I know we already get 2 episodes a week but, what about an R&R (Rach &Rochi) shorts like maybe rest and relax, so it could be mental health benefits or well wishes throughout the day! Loved the show today!❤❤❤❤
It is such a treat getting to hear everyone's thoughts and stories in such a laid back environment. Similar to what Becky was talking about with thoughts and if they serve you, if you have anxious thoughts I heard to ask yourself if it is the real you talking. It helps with self doubt or worry about the what if's. And I deff had my first kiss in kindergarten too! lol. He ended up being a childhood and lifelong friend, also gay 🤷♀
But Rachael I loved those diy's from the video with the cocoon light. Its engaged the creative problem solver part of our brains and taught us to think laterally. Also seeing you fail makes us feel less self conscious when we fail
Best advice my Dad gave me in Jr high I was being bullied by the “popular girls” . I was crying and telling my Dad I didn’t want to go back to school anymore and he said “They are NO different than you, they put their pants on the same way you do, 1 leg at a time”! Since then I was never intimidated by other people. Even movie stars which I met several and I was in the movie Love & Death with Elizabeth Olsen which side note she is SOOOO nice! Thanked us everyday & said there would be no show if there wasn’t extras and she was grateful for us! I have it on video when she was telling us this😊❤ Anyway so if you know a kiddo being bullied maybe those words from my amazing Dad can help. (He passed away 3yrs ago and 3 weeks later my Mom passed 😢)
I so appreciated Rochelle talking about her first kiss experience because I relate to her story a lot, i.e. not really crushing on people in high school and things not really falling into place but having to make them happen, so I was so glad to hear from someone who has had similar experiences! Being able to connect with you guys like this and seeing your different personalities interacting makes me feel almost like I'm sitting there with you, and "From the Workshop Floor" is now one of my favourite formats on TH-cam, the only podcast I'll never miss!
my first concert was the backstreet boys in GRADE FOUR. i've been a concert fiend ever since hahaha from the workshop floor is a can't miss series for me, thank you so much for this :)
Wow! All I can say is Thank you! You made me laugh and cry today. I am grateful for all your content, but especially " From the workshop floor". You are my Sunday Morning routine; A latte, my dog on my lap and the Sorry Girls on my TV. ❤❤❤
My first memory of a “concert” was my dad taking me to a music festival in my hometown and sitting on his shoulders to watch Little Richard sing and play Tootie Fruity in 1995. I’m sure I got dragged to that music festival before then though. My parents are early boomers and big oldies fans so by the time I’d graduated elementary school I’d seen Herman’s Hermits and Three Dog Night each twice. Sing along to Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog, Shambala, and Henry the 8th. My parents would just put my sister and me in a wagon and ply us with virgin strawberry daiquiris to let them go see bands they wanted to see.
Such a fun episode! Loved all of the gems of wisdom in here. My first concert was Backstreet Boys. Aaron Carter was humping the stage and I asked my mom, “what is he doing?” bc I was too young to understand 😅
I taught myself to quilt. And frequently screwed up. Meaning, lots of seam ripping and recutting material and beating myself up. One day, I read a quilters book, and I got the best piece of advice. No one is going to notice your "mistakes" like you do, and "the Quilt Police" are not coming to arrest you for them! So, chill out. Your "mistakes" are what give your project character. I remember this every time I do one. In fact, I am reminding myself of this today as I rip out and replace blocks that don't coordinate like I originally thought they would. And I not beating myself up for that. A baby quilt I gifted last month has many mismatched points. Don't know how I managed that, but I surely didn't point them out out to the recipient and belittle myself for it! It's still pretty!
@Rochelle, we went to the same high school! I was a few years younger than you though, but there was definitely still a lot of chatter that "Michael Cera" used to go here. Lol!
Loves this episode! I would say the best advice I ever got was from my mom. She told me, “mommy’s baby, daddy’s maybe” and that set the course for the rest of my life. I was already not a fan of baby dolls or gender roles even as a kid, and I held closely what she said and saw in real life, in the lives of friends, neighbors and strangers, how true those words were. I never wanted to be them. I never wanted to be stuck in the crappy and horrible situations those women were, so I took control of my life and future and have never regretted my decision to not have children. I had my tubes removed a few years ago, it’s called a Salpingectomy and had my IUD replaced in surgery as well which was nice! I am gonna be 33 in April and I still don’t regret it and neither does my husband who I have been with happily for 13 years. He never wanted kids either and got a vasectomy like a responsible adult, he took control of his life, health and future.
Believe it or not, I came to know abt you throught the terrazzo debacle because I was looking around to do that for my first reno (spoiler, I did not do it haha) And it made me stay. Because you seemed like such a badass crew, trying again and again ,with a good attitude. Still here !
I hollered when Rachael said her first concert was Hillary Duff because mine was too! One of the overhead speakers caught on fire midway through her set and she was wearing heels so the drummer ran around to the front of the stage and picked her up and ran off stage. It was the day before I started first grade and I was so excited to wear my concert shirt to the first day of school!
Kelsey, it's funny that the terrazzo DIY is perceived as a failure by you because that DIY really stuck out to me. I found it so ingenious, loved the problem solving, & it was quite inspirational. I don't remember what episode was my intro to the Sorry Girls but that DIY might have been the one that kept me hooked
Becky! Into the Wild is one of my all time faves too! Are we best friends? Curious if you’ve seen “The Fall”. I think it came out in 2006. If not, I think you would like it! Not really in the same vein as Into the Wild, but the nature visuals are WILD.
First kiss-16, 1984 First concert Air Supply First impactful book-Eric by Doris Harold Lund Fist thing I do in the morning-get coffee and sit on the porch. It’s screened in and almost always sunny-Georgia

I whole heartedly agree.

and for the love of god let’s hope they stop existing soon

2:24 But I understand Becky, I need a tip as someone that can’t be physically or mentally active right away when I wake up, so checking my phone helps
I got so excited when you mentioned the love action Peter Pan because my older brother is one of the pirates in that film! One of his big stunt jobs.
“Don’t put yourself down. There’s enough people out there who’re going to do that.”
An older journalist to me, a Journalism intern.
I sooooo relate to Rachel first kiss story. I really enjoyed this chatty video!
What I think I love the most about this series is that they bring you together even closer as friends, as you get to know more about each other :)
Such a fun episode! Loved all of the gems of wisdom in here. My first concert was Backstreet Boys. Aaron Carter was humping the stage and I asked my mom, “what is he doing?” bc I was too young to understand 😅
The duff stuff pic was so adorable!
Kelsey and I have the exact same first concert story lol
Kelsey's shirt! ♥️ I tried winning tickets to Debbie Gibson from a radio station call in, but ended up winning tickets to The Jetts. 😂 (I'm old lol)
I fell sooo hard for Jeremy Sumpter in Peter Pan haha
Omgg i cant get over becky’s hairr!!!
My grandma, a seamstress, always says: sewing comes with undoing.
@Rochelle, we went to the same high school! I was a few years younger than you though, but there was definitely still a lot of chatter that "Michael Cera" used to go here. Lol!
Haha an icon
This felt like a sleepover, so cute!
OMG they should do a sleepover episode of from the workshop floor, they could totally run with that idea!!
Love this episode!
Believe it or not, I came to know abt you throught the terrazzo debacle because I was looking around to do that for my first reno (spoiler, I did not do it haha) And it made me stay. Because you seemed like such a badass crew, trying again and again ,with a good attitude. Still here !
Really loved this episode…please do it again🥰🥰🥰
Yes more. I love women supporting women. You all amaze me! Love workshop floor. Also you all could read a telephone book and I’d be there!
I think this is my favorite episode!!!
Becky! Into the Wild is one of my all time faves too! Are we best friends? Curious if you’ve seen “The Fall”. I think it came out in 2006. If not, I think you would like it! Not really in the same vein as Into the Wild, but the nature visuals are WILD.
Loved this theme!!
Rachael’s roast of Leonardo DiCaprio gives me LIFE. Savage and absolutely deserved.
Yaay we love vulnerable TSH!
Becky's New Hair!!!!!
Isn’t it amazing!

Fist thing I do in the morning-get coffee and sit on the porch. It’s screened in and almost always sunny-Georgia
