Another tip is framing wallpaper. This is cool for a gallery wall when there's a sample sale or there's just one roll left of a design you love. I got three big secondhand frames where I placed the same landscape wallpaper as a headboard in my bedroom. Looks like one continuous image of a field of flowers

Kelsey, the sweater you're wearing, with the set, it works so well. You look so beautiful in this video! I mean, always, but particularly in this video 😊
Printing hack - your local library! At my local library, you can print a black and white sheet for .25$, a colour sheet for .50$. There is no size difference in price between an 81/2x11 , 11x17 or (I can't remember what the next size up it). Print up your free art, mod podge and frame it and there you go!
Your tip about mixing the family photos with art is exactly what I do plus a mix of posed, candid, old, new, black and white, color photos. I’m a photographer and also have a tonnnn of family photos and I’m a big proponent of printing your photos! So I have a huge gallery wall in my living room, it has two photos of my husband and I, a photo his grandpa took of a windmill and a photo of ballerinas from a LIFE photography book. Everything else is art, framed baseball gloves, basket I got on a trip etc. I do also have a couple family photos on a shelf that are much smaller. Then I have a photo ledge shelf with the bulk of family photos and wedding photos, but I still mixed art and non-people photos as well. Also something most people don’t do (but I wished they did) is take family photos with the intention of it being art displayed in your home. That way they look unique and purposeful to your style (at least the larger photos that you choose to print)
Thank you for always helping us "home" I'm working diligently on gallery walls and it's always nice to have extra tips and tricks to make the process easier. Love the sorry girls
I have to chuckle on this one. I quilt sew, do crosstitch and tole painting. So originally much of my walls had these sort of things on them. Then my youngest was making art from a young age. eventually she earned a degree or two in art. I've never had to think about buying art, thrifting it, etc. My walls are covered and I could cover more.
I love that you highlighted Commissioned Pieces!! I do Watercolour House Portraits for people all over I'm from close to T.O (Ontario girlie here!) and it brings me so much joy! Love the tips + tricks!
@megansimonson Yeahhh honestly it was kind of nice to see that even content creators don't know it all - leaves more room for the rest of us to enjoy art, big names be d*mned lol 🥹
I use an old wall mounted mail holder to display vintage Agatha Christie paperbacks with cool covers. I change them out once in awhile when I want a different look. It breaks up my gallery wall and means I get to admire the cool cover art.
This is such a helpful video! It's so easy to improve your space with art, because it's something you can do yourself and at a very low cost depending on what you're looking for. You don't always need expensive things to make a big impact in your space.
I love pictures that speak to me, and nothing speaks more to a person than moments and people/pets from their own life. But I’m not into showcasing photos. My solution has been Prisma, which doesn’t work for every photo, but when it does, it’s frameable! I’ve made over 20 ‘art’ pieces that I’ve framed and hung on my wall. It starts with a good photo (interesting angle, focused in the subject/no background cutter) and then finding the right Prisma filter. This worked so well that I pay the yearly subscription. I’ve also found great pieces at local art fairs. Just moved and there was a Christmas sale for local artists and I picked up 3 awesome and unique artworks. Got to talk to several of the artists too!
For big art- consider a Jigsaw Puzzle. There's lots of variety, it's a fun activity first. I really like Thomas kinkade disney art but the prints are super pricey. There's also all kinds of different styles for Jigsaw puzzles.
I love that you inform that objects are art and can be placed up on your wall. I have an old tennis racket with its timber tension brace of my mums from the 1940s. I also have an entertainment set consisting of tray, bowl and plate made from material encased in acrylic given to me by a designer friend on my wall. Love your videos. ❤

I do have multiple gallery wall moments in one room and find that it works well. One is to balance out my Ikea fabric pinboard above my desk, the other are 2 staggered picture ledges above my couch that hold art but also little plants, a clock, candles etc.
Art w/ a story. I've been very fortunate to find original art while thrifting. Once at a G-sale I saw a watercolor that was very similar to one I had picked up at St Vincent de Paul. I started chatting w/ the seller about it and learned that the artist was a family friend. I not only purchased a second piece I love but now have a back story about the artist and his work. I built my home's color scheme around a large art piece that hangs over my fireplace. I got it from my Buy-Nothing group, it has a $300. gallery sticker on the back.
Cool! I often buy art pieces (mainly small prints) on holiday. I try and find a local artist who does landscapes or street life pieces of the place I'm visiting, so far I have a print of a watercolour of Lindisfarne, a print of an ink drawing of a street in Bergen, small prints that look like vintage travel posters of the Lofoten islands, and a watercolour landscape from Sweden. They remind me of great holidays, and they look lovely too.
This is one of my favorite videos you have posted! Thank you. I have used some of them the last 45 years. Custom oil painting, metal art, quilts, shadow box, sconces, stretched fabric on a frame, Elephant Stock 5 piece art…it’s endless!
Same here! It takes a lot of courage to actually decorate wall space. Personally, I've found floating shelves to be my biggest helper. I can display all my little knickknacks and they break up 2D frame spaces with 3D shelves!
I have a quilt my grandma made where she free-hand embroidered the flowers of all 50 states that I've been waiting for wall space to hang. I need to make that a requirement for any future houses.
i do like the tip of getting the art piece even if you don't have a place for it yet BUT also remember that home decor is her literal job, and it's likely you will never be in a hurry to have art on your walls :p it's fine to take your time and make thoughtful purchases/projects
I’ve framed greeting cards. They are smaller obviously than a typical print but a lot of times they are less than $5. You get a little piece of art on a budget and it’s easy to remember the artist because you can look at the back of the card to find their info usually.
As a full time artist I LOVE selling my originals in cool thrifted frames and pairing them with different “matting” options (“” because I also hack with a high quality paper and just put the art in front, a cost effective option!) Also I can’t believe you were at OOAK and I didn’t get to meet you in person 😓
Sometimes Public Libraries lend art, too! The Nashville Public library in Tennessee lends art from local artists for 6 weeks at a time, which is a great option for low budget art!
A few years ago, we bought a large home and had very little to put on the walls. I ended up going to my local hobby lobby and taking pictures of art they had and just doing it myself. I have always said that a lot of the art you see in those places looks like it could be done by a three year-old, so I just decided I would do it since I’m over three lol. I’m not sure if that is breaking some kind of copyright law, but if you don’t copy them exactly you can change them enough that they would not be the same so I don’t think it would apply. It also inspired me to make a few pieces that I created myself. I ended up with a home that was decorated very nicely.
Getting to the part of family photos, like oh no, what am I going to be guilty of. We've done 1 professional photography session as our little family. It was our Halloween costumes from the movie Labyrinth, taken in a botanical garden with a hedge maze. I don't have any of the final photos displayed yet, but I absolutely love it for an unexpected holiday picture, with the babe in red and white pajamas. I love my mother's day photo gift from my 2 fuzzy babies. A framed photo of each of them with a matte, but... because they are cats they put it in the frame upside down, and one of them shifted. It's perfect!
Thank you! This has given me a gift idea!! My one friend is into fashion and just bought a home, so thinking a vintage fashion peice in a frame could be a nice gift!?
Also, go to local art markets and fairs. Not all art is expensive. I will go as far as to say, most art is incredibly cheap for what it is worth. Many local artists struggle to scrape by while having multiple jobs on the side, while trying to sell original artwork for 30-50-100 dollars. Some thrifted artwork costs more than that sometimes. So, try going to underground artist shows and galleries, not everything is great, but there are oftentimes many gems. You don't know what you are missing out on until you see the true variety of what's out there.
I actually saw you at the one of a kind show when you were recording those clips! I was working as event staff so didn’t want to bother you 😊 great video!
I think they spoke about this on the last that cost how much episodes and that the American prices are also "cheaper", but also a decent amount of their audience is American.
Damn keyboard warriors love clicking before thinking-classic move, lol. (This text is (C), btw - except for the 3 ideas below) Canadian TH-cam creators are focusing more and more on American audiences and working with U.S.-based companies. This hurts Canadian businesses and waters down Canada’s unique culture. If these “creators” actually care about making a difference in Canada, why are they still relying on American affiliate programs? If the excuse is, “There aren’t enough options in Canada,” then why not use their influence to fix that? Instead of pushing American businesses, they could help fill the gap by working with Canadian companies. That way, they’d be supporting Canada’s economy and promoting its culture at the same time. And if the problem really is, “Do you know how hard it is to ____ in Canada?”, then why aren’t they talking about it? Show us what’s actually hard from the workshop floor. Start real conversations about those struggles. It might inspire Canadian viewers to take action and work together to solve these problems. Now, I know some people might say, “Viewers are too lazy or self-obsessed to care.” But let’s be honest-they’re not lazy when they’re out here typing long essays as keyboard warriors! A smart Canadian named Marshall McLuhan once said, “The medium is the message.” Becky and Kelsey have film degrees-they should use their skills to balance reaching global audiences while also celebrating Canada’s unique identity. Instead, it feels like they’ve abandoned it because focusing on American audiences makes them more money. And don’t say I didn’t warn you-pretty soon, The Sorry Girls might be swapping out the maple leaf for a rosebud, too! P.S. Ideas no one asked for, but hey, they’re better than what’s out there right now. If I’m going to complain, I might as well offer some solutions: 1. R&R Series (Rachel and Rochelle): Rachel could be the “city mouse” who has no workshop, and Rochelle could be the “country mouse” with a full workshop. They both DIY the same thing, but Rachel makes a version for a doll while Rochelle makes one for humans. At the end, the audience votes for the best one, and the winner is revealed at the start of the next episode. Even if someone watches later, it’s still fun and bingeable. That’s a smart strategy without being greedy. 2. Explore Uniquely Canadian Stuff (and Quebec!): Since Kelsey visited her mother-in-law in BC, and since Canada functions in 2 languages (i.e. French and English), why not explore Quebec next? It’s cheaper to visit than B.C. and the U.S., and there’s so much cool Canadian design. Check out shops like Wynil, or Quebec businesses now in Ontario like Simons (their home section is amazing), VdeV, or MUST. 3. A Touch of Austin Will Make It Canadian: If you want insta CanCon add Austin, but not in a tokenistic way, like not us hearing Becky asking him him his opinion off-screen, but never get to see him, that's bo-bo. If “being Canadian” is really a motto you live by, show it. Don’t just take advantage of your Canadian roots to cater to American audiences.
Beware of online art production websites that use generative AI to create artwork. Many Etsy sellers now do that too. Ai steals from other artists and bad for the environment. Most of them do not specify that they use generative AI either.
What lovely ideas😊 I also some little themed corners: I have four images of a seagull consisting of a watercolor drawing , a biological drawing and two photos. And when someone visits me for the first time, they get introduced to the seagull corner 😅
I have a gorgeous vintage photo of my Granny in the 1930s - she’s all dressed up in a gorgeous hat and coat. this video is a great reminder that I should really get a better frame for it, and also scan it so other family could have same photo if they want it
The Klimt print is part of Wasserschlangen II, the original was last sold for 170 million dollars. You‘re not gonna find an original Klimt at the thrift store😂
In Germany blank canvas can be cheaper but still this was a very helpfull video thank you!!! I will definetly come back to atch when i move out and have my own space
Buying art before you need them! My mom got this giant piece of art with Marilyn Monroe on it for her 2 car garage, that she didn't even have a contractor to build! She just had it propped up in the living room, where you had to walk around it for years. The garage is built, and it's not in there. Especially for Merylyn Monroe decor, there will always be some available. It's not so special that you need to jump on it or it will get away.
I think "dee cal" is the way it's pronounced in the States and "deckel " is how it's pronounced in Canada. When I first moved to Canada and heard "deckel", I laughed my butt off. Actually, there's a few words pronounced differently, like "garage".
Ok sorry girls and you tubers? What kind of art should be on craft room walls? I always wondered, do you may a gallery wall of your favorite crafting supplies? You know scissors paint brushes etc. Thank you look all of these tips
I don’t want to come out as arrogant, but when you have a certain influence and dare make a video about (sort of) art, you need to have a modicum of responsibility and know what you’re talking about. Being completely ignorant of such a well-known artist (for some reason prints of his works can be so easily found in drift-stores), to the point of butchering Klimt’s name completely (it’s ONE syllable, come on!) really isn’t a good look
95 % of visual artists cannot live off their work, even when you have a Master's degree in visual art. All that print shit doesn't make it better and looks basic. Just buy real paintings from the 95% - you can buy their B work and it will 1000 times more original then your boring af print gallery wall. There is also a very big difference between art and decoration.
Another tip is framing wallpaper. This is cool for a gallery wall when there's a sample sale or there's just one roll left of a design you love. I got three big secondhand frames where I placed the same landscape wallpaper as a headboard in my bedroom. Looks like one continuous image of a field of flowers
absolutely!! great tip ⭐️
you can also get fancy sheets of wrapping paper at stationary stores! I have a few sheets framed around my house!

Rachel could be the “city mouse” who has no workshop, and Rochelle could be the “country mouse” with a full workshop.
2. Explore Uniquely Canadian Stuff (and Quebec!):
Since Kelsey visited her mother-in-law in BC, and since Canada functions in 2 languages (i.e. French and English), why not explore Quebec next? It’s cheaper to visit than B.C. and the U.S., and there’s so much cool Canadian design. Check out shops like Wynil, or Quebec businesses now in Ontario like Simons (their home section is amazing), VdeV, or MUST.
3. A Touch of Austin Will Make It Canadian:
If you want insta CanCon add Austin, but not in a tokenistic way, like not us hearing Becky asking him him his opinion off-screen, but never get to see him, that's bo-bo.
If “being Canadian” is really a motto you live by, show it. Don’t just take advantage of your Canadian roots to cater to American audiences.
Kelsey, you should wear that colour more often. It really suits you.
my goodness you get more and more beautiful every year big wow
Saw a similar video on Living With LK, good tips on both.
Beware of online art production websites that use generative AI to create artwork. Many Etsy sellers now do that too. Ai steals from other artists and bad for the environment. Most of them do not specify that they use generative AI either.
I have two hallways in my relatively small house. One of them I plan to do all pet related artwork lol. My cats and all my friends animals.
love this idea 🥹
What lovely ideas😊 I also some little themed corners: I have four images of a seagull consisting of a watercolor drawing , a biological drawing and two photos. And when someone visits me for the first time, they get introduced to the seagull corner 😅
You look so pretty :)
I love to make my own art 😅
yess! love to hear it
Clicked so fast
love the commitment ❤🔥
At 6:43 you show the racoon and the butt napkin quote. Where did the phrase "button napkin" come from? My 4 yr old grandson calls them that!
I have a gorgeous vintage photo of my Granny in the 1930s - she’s all dressed up in a gorgeous hat and coat. this video is a great reminder that I should really get a better frame for it, and also scan it so other family could have same photo if they want it
Can we talk about how your thrift store looks soo much more neatly organized than here in U.S. lol 😂
Thanks for shouting out Etsy artists!
Is it art or is it décor?
It’s “Dee-cals” 😂 but Canada and us say things differently lol
Lol, can you imagine if it was a Klimt original! $$$$$$$$$ Kelsey, you probably know The Kiss by Klimt 🙂
haha i said to myself it looked like a Klimt before you googled it
Where are the the people of Toronto/Canada printing large prints? Or good quality prints for digital photos?
In Ontario - I have purchased art prints digitally and had them printed through UPS' online printing service. The prices were reasonable
Whooop!! ❤
Anything that speaks you and makes you happy is art. Anything you fit in a frame can be framed. Got kids? Frame their art.
It's not so special that you need to jump on it or it will get away.
some public libraries have art pieces to borrow, like books!
That tennis shoe drawing is older than me 😅😅
Check with your local library too! Some of them rent art!
❤️🎄❤️
I think "dee cal" is the way it's pronounced in the States and "deckel " is how it's pronounced in Canada. When I first moved to Canada and heard "deckel", I laughed my butt off. Actually, there's a few words pronounced differently, like "garage".
Ok sorry girls and you tubers? What kind of art should be on craft room walls? I always wondered, do you may a gallery wall of your favorite crafting supplies? You know scissors paint brushes etc. Thank you look all of these tips
The butchering of Klimt's name.😬
whoooopsies 🥲
The ai translation is really weird 😬
