My wife and I are retired and we thought about moving there for a couple of years, then moving to somewhere else. You know, just so she can experience the cultures of the world. I experienced plenty because I grew up and military brat, then joined the military myself when I turned 17 and yes I had graduated from high school by the time I was 17. I spent 6 years in the military, then got out, went to college, got a degree in computer science and went to work.
Just so you know ,you guys and your videos just helped me with negotiating with the Chinese delegation in NZ today, just simply finding something common ground to talk about ,relating life styles etc and using terminology that they understand, one day I would like to thank you all face to face.
This is great... Here in Thailand I experienced something great with shopping. I bought furniture in a shop. It arrived at our home before we were there!!! No charge!
if u work in china as a delivery guy, you get pay with base plus how many and how expensive the package u can delivered, most them a delivery 100-200 item a day, get paid about 5000- 15000 rmb, if you work harder, you get pay more, here in canada, they get paid 35k-55k cad year, deliver 20-50 item a day,......
I wish my country (Australia) had more work available at night. The amount of unemployed people out there is insane, and by working at night we're just making the economy stronger and keeping everything busy.
Well we have this wonderful thing called the Federal Award system, which were driven by unions (fucking parasites!)...hence why we don't manufacture or produce much anymore because employees are too damn expensive. For those that don't know, the MINIMUM WAGE for full/part timers is $18.93 per hour, for casual employees it is $23.66 per hour. If there were more night workers, then the costs of these workers would be passed on to the consumer and we already pay enough for stuff as it is. Guess what..night and penalty rates for Award covered employees is extra... Look, I'd love for less unemployment and for more work to be out there, but it's sadly not gonna happen for us anytime soon...
Partially correct...many Aussies are lazy, I'll give you that one, but the simple truth is we cost too damn much...we moved almost all manufacturing to China or SE Asia to cut costs. Doesn't get simpler than that
FedEx Ground Service will deliver overnight within the state of NY for $7 or $8 for something around the size and weight of a computer battery. You just need to select "ground service". Air service is much more expensive.
Hi, I am watching you two guys from Sweden. I am Chinese from Shanghai ( born and lived my first 27 years in Shanghai). Moved to Sweden year 2004. Lovely watching you two who living in China. Honestly, I don't know much outside of Shanghai in China. You guys have shown me alot of China I never knew earlier. Thank you!
Hey serpentza and c-milk, love your videos. I've been watching you guys (and prozzie) for a little over six months, found you guys right before I left the US, and I've been in Beijing ever since. You guys inspired me to buy a bike, and so for the past month or so I've been cruising around the north of China as well! I'm still a little new to it all, but if you guys make it to Beijing it would be amazing to sit down for some dinner one night and meet you all! Keep up the great content!
Monte Cristo what is the hole point of thise conversation i dont get it accept that same one out of the 10 years old kid spektrum plays minecraft .... and vape 200mg of cbd its perfect for sleep. =D
Several years back when I was living in an apartment in Futian (Shenzhen), it was a Sunday late afternoon and our TV Cable Box broke (yes at a time when people actually watched cable TV!); we called them to get it fixed and they arrived a few hours later with a brand new box and fixed it immediately with no charge. Back in my home Country of Canada, it would have taken 7-14 days for the cable company to come do this plus at least C$50 for the visit alone and for sure they wouldn't have come on a Sunday evening! So yes, speedy delivery and getting things fixed quickly in China is unparalleled and actually something I love about living here!
No....the guys are gearing up for their 2nd documentary series, "Conquering Northern China." Their 1st documentary series, "Conquering Southern China," was fantastic! Here's a link to the Vimeo of their first documentary: vimeo.com/ondemand/conqueringsouthernchina
1:15 I only eat stuff if it clucks quacks hisses moo's bleats, falls from a tree, is found partially buried (and attached to healthy looking leaves), and occasionally if it oinks, but mostly in a box and frozen.
Thank you for making your awesome videos! I'm heading out to Beijing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai next week. I've been watching a number of both your videos, definitely feel more prepared + excited! Much love from LA 🙏
I'm watching Conquering Southern China now (I've run out of your old videos on TH-cam -- and the individual ones from SerpentZA and Laowhy86!). Watching your stuff always makes me hungry!!!! (And always for Chinese food, which, of course, is not the same here in NJ.)
Even internationally, I ordered some pc cable a few months ago from Mexico and it cost me like $1.50 with shipping. Just the cable is like $10 here, and they got it to me from the other side of the world for $1.50 that's just mindblowing...
I'm more interested in learning why it's so cheap to ship from China to the US, but the opposite is insanely expensive. The e-packet rates from there are causing a major trade problem because domestic sellers can't compete with the shipping costs.
TR47 The Post an Courier companies in the western countries are overcharging at outrageous levels. The US UK Canada and Australia are the most expensive places in the world for courier prices. In the UK it is now dramatically cheaper to use the German postal service for parcel delivery than it is to use the Royal Mail for any international deliveries
Maybe they are afraid of if a man what to send something from NYC to LA, he send it to China first and deliver it from China to LA and find it's Cheaper...Just kidding...=P
Eh, its all relative, I'm Australian and I've had 30kg parcels come from Melbourne to a country town 900km's away within 2 days for $14 before. I've had other places want to charge $50 to go less than 100km's its all about searching for the best deal, like with anything.
I commented on Winston's video that I lived in Guangzhou for 3 years and watching you guys eat, GAWD do I miss the food. That looks so good!!! We have some pretty good Guangdong food in and around Los Angeles, but nothing as good as I had in even 3rd/4th tier cities. Guangzhou food was even better. I am so jealous. And hungry.
duck is amazing. Also this shipping situation would never happen in the US. It has to be during business hours during the week, never weekends. Overnight shipping is also super expensive.
TJ Suydam i Wonder if it's because there's more effort put into breeding ducks, because chickens from small farmers taste completely different from what you can buy in a store
Most Chinese food places sell duck in the US. If you meant the shipping situation, its a completely different story. In the US labor and gasoline costs increase extremely fast, let alone the other business fees and laws about shipping.
my mum usually cook meat stuffed bitterguard with less cooking oil when fry them... you can remind them to use less salt, less cooking oil too when ordering... good health guys!
Great video once again! C-Milk you mentioned you get vitamins; I'll be moving to China soon and would greatly appreciate any suggestions for vitamin brands/companies you've found there with quality & trustworthy products. Thanks so much! Love your guys' videos, they have helped me feel both excited about moving there, and confident in many areas I'd been worried about.
I recently bought some items from shenzhen to the states that cost about 8$ each shipping, i had to send one back that was bad and the best shipping we could get was over $50
The grade on the footage at the end was a nice touch! The best shipping I've been able to get is on items from China to my neck of the woods, usually through ebay from the manufacturers. Buying stuff off of Amazon in the States or Europe is a pain, shipping is something like $12 per pound for me. I'd kill for courier service like you guys have access too! :3
Another very good video ! U guys help me improve my English level, as well as get to know China more, in the context of comparing with the West. As a Chinese myself, sometimes I may be too negative, many good things I may just take them for granted ! Thank you for reminding me of them indeed !
Not long ago I bought something online on a Sunday morning not expecting my package to arrive until Tuesday, and it was delivered on Sunday the same day. That would never happen in America. Total shipping fee was 10rmb, to me that's basically free.
In the US, the government has a monopoly on mailing and courier services (USPS). They allow FedEx, UPS and DHL for larger and odd shaped packages, fast tracked shipping, international and basically mailing you would do for business (emergency mailing that needs to be done quick). For regular public mailing, they are really strict on that and don't allow it. That's the reason they can charge for the service they offer, no real competition to compete with, also the pay and benefits the employees get is pretty good even if they lose, steal of destroy you package (even if it happens rarely but still).
The company I work for has a deal with UPS. Most packages we send are within 100-200km anyways so if we ship it ground it will get there next day. We only get charged about $5 USD (about 33.5 CNY) for local ground shipments.
I suspect China and the USA heavily subsidize shipping costs. I ordered a keyboard from China, but it had a problem. They said 'keep it,' as the cost of shipping it back was so much greater. Shipping costs within the USA are advertised as free, but sending at item across the border to Canada (most cities in Canada are within 150 km of the border) can easily be as expensive as the item itself.
I am extremely interested in history and really everything to do with the entire world, I have a huge thirst for knowledge but can't travel. Your videos give me eyes to places I'll never be able to go and getting the real deal about China is extremely hard because they want to uphold a certain image that may not be entirely true but it's down to pride. Thank you for giving the knowledge that I have not been able to find elsewhere.
Chris! 2016 China enacted " espionage law" requiring any Chinese citizen to report any suspicious foreigner to the Authorities for 70,000 dollars! March 2017 China arrested six Japanese tourists for spying in Shandong and Hainan.... Locals called reported them as spies! Check "JapanTimes May 22 2017"
And in Beijing, you can order from JD and you get it using COD (COD...Cash on delivery) disappeared in Canada and the US long ago.Air conditioners, fridges, etc, etc, and COD and fast delivery.
I like the new(ish) format: conversation over food. The only way to top it all off, is if you guys can manage to have a conversation WHILE eating delicious food AND riding bike! lol
I have to admit my shock the first time somebody had McDonalds delivered when I was in china and a uniformed guy on a bicycle showed up. It's very impressive coming from the US.
Hey guys! I really like your contents and the knowledge you provide about China! keep doing what you do!! I would like to ask you more questions about a related topic, where can I do that? Thanks again!
Nice food, Love duck and the stuffed tofu.I use to work for a courier company and know that some packages are dropped or thrown. Nice video, especially the meal makes me home sick.
It is the wallstreet control of the Public shipping companies in the USA and their need to make ever rising "profits" which is why shipping costs so much. I remember when UPS was so freaking cheap to ship cross the country. Also there is less competition with all the consolidation in the industry! Now there are just UPS, FEDEX and USPS
Postage and shipping in the United States is absolutely freaking RIDICULOUS!!! A friend in Tunisia sent me a book, it cost him approximately $6. When I sent him a comprable package... cost me more than $40!?!
Also loved the little passive aggressive "pretty sure a lot of people eat duck and goose" and "it's not beef it's water buffalo" banter at the start. :P
Great to know, I hope you'll REVIEW more business models from CHINA, That's very interesting to see the variety of those in a country that has 1.3 BILLION people
I guess Customs are also a reason it takes so long to ship something from China to Canada (takes a month and a half usually). Then again Canadian customs are also slow, but I rarely order from there, only a laptop motherboard once, and I'm surprised that motherboard works better than the one that was originally in the laptop before I replaced it. Anyway, loving your videos! Still binge watching them as I find more.
As I was driving in town today Fresno Cal there was a flock of geese about 20 many young ones walking around near a canal bank on the side of a busy intersection, strange thing nobody paid much attention to them or tried to catch and eat them, this is when I realize I'm not in Asia anymore
I was always staggered at how incredibly efficient and cheap, cheap SF Couriers were. Their bloke woulc be at my hotel in Yongtai (Guangzhou) to pick up a sample about the size of a shoe box and a couple of Kg at 12 pm and it would be in Hangzhou by 10 the next morning. Cost $5.00. Hangzhou is 1,100 klms away. Try and match that in the West. Nof once was anything ever lost or delayed. An incredible service.
Great videos guys. Trying to get you a gig on Discovery Channel. If they pay some guys on jet skis to travel the coast of Africa, your travels would be much more entertaining. Anyway, I order things off AliExpress. The item can be $2 and it will be free shipping. Amazing. Thanks again for your videos, Stay Awesome!
I pay 6£ a month for Amazon Prime and get free one day shipping on many items. Also most things sold from China on amazon have free shipping. Even if its a £1.50 cable from China.
I dont know if i just havent seen the video but can you explain how/why you are able to drive around places that seem very much like private property without any issues, like entering building and nail houses and such. thanks
Woa! hard to believe the price and the efficiency of shipping goods in China, you will never find any company to pick up goods at your door step at 10:00 pm. in the USA. Are you shipping your bike to Qing Dao soon?
Duck replaced turkey as our default thanksgiving bird a few years ago, though we have to cook two. Tried goose once but I wasn't impressed. However, it didn't look like the one in the video. Might have to give it another shot.
3x my mom tried to ship me a box of clothes and shoes from the US. It was detained a customs for over a month each time, then shipped back to the US. Never trying that again.
The free shipping extends to america, if you shop ebay or aliexpress and others they will ship stuff for nothing from china in a way which doesn't really make sense, the only downside is that it takes a month or two to arrive. Nothing that important, but the basic things you can wait for, like computer cables and accessories.
I don't know anyone who eats goose here in California but people definitely hunt and eat duck here. You usually only find it in Chinese restaurants as far as eating out goes though. The USA is obsessed with Chicken and Beef for the most part. It's served everywhere from fast food joints to expensive gourmet places.
The food looks great. I would love to try that stuffed tofu, must go find a recipe. Any way, I also do not really like the skin unless it is quite crispy..., but I just do not want to know how you know what a boil, or a lanced boil tastes like. That made me Lol big time. Once again guy, great video. Keep up the good work!!! Peace, Love and Light my friends!
I am in Baltimore US. I ordered a Pioneer radio from Amizon at 11a.m. it arrived at my house at 8 p.m. THE SAME DAY. There are local carriers that deliver same day in every major city in the US. Most ride bikes deliver legal documents and so on. I worked for one in college. That was 30 years ago. It was between 7 to 10 us for most same day deliveries. Between DC and Baltimore was about $40 US. Anyone know how much it is today in the states for a local same day delivery?
overnight express here in Australia is like a game of chance. in your own city, maybe a day most of the time 2 days. from clear across the country nearly 3000km no problem overnight? its a gamble you just can't count on it.
I have no interest in moving to china.. but I find these videos so interesting.
My wife and I are retired and we thought about moving there for a couple of years, then moving to somewhere else. You know, just so she can experience the cultures of the world. Might be my imagination , but I think I read this exact comment on other ADV comments section.
Mr Plague I like Laowhy's wife's videos, very much. Her stories about growing up there are very interesting.
Mr Plague 100% agree. The only scenario I see myself living in China is if I'm successful in becoming a pilot and getting a job their.
+Jerry C I really do not think it is safe. But God bless you.
Just so you know ,you guys and your videos just helped me with negotiating with the Chinese delegation in NZ today, just simply finding something common ground to talk about ,relating life styles etc and using terminology that they understand, one day I would like to thank you all face to face.
This channel is so fascinating. It really de-mystifies China.
Shame it doesn't de-mist it. Because of all the polluted smog and stuff.
The last time I used a courier service in the states, they ran over my mailbox.
At least they got your address correct
This is great... Here in Thailand I experienced something great with shopping. I bought furniture in a shop. It arrived at our home before we were there!!! No charge!

In my opinion this is one of your best videos to date. Very informative and I had no idea about courier service in China.
Duck is amazing! I certainly eat it whenever I can afford to and always urge others to try it as it's not that common to eat duck in my country.
Just saw it is on Amazon Prime but pledged your Conquering Northern China Tour^^ it's worth it! Go on with your journey :)
Great video keep them comming guys
lol what happened at 7:23?? Both of you stared right into my soul.
Luv seeing that 100k marker on ADV China. Congrats guys!!!
China has so much potential ..I have heard that things are changing now but not in a good way ...Really like your videos..
Overnight shipping from one house to another in the US is like $45, 3-4 day shipping (excluding Sunday) is $2.77
LOVE goose and duck!!! Dang, your goose looked amazing!
Great video. Love watching you eating chinese food!
I've tried goose breast filet... Best steak I ever had! Love your videos guys! Keep up the good work!
shipped a fitness band strap from Shenzhen china to my home town about 2400KM away by air at USD3.26 ... including the strap...
I pay 6£ a month for Amazon Prime and get free one day shipping on many items. Also most things sold from China on amazon have free shipping. Even if its a £1.50 cable from China.
I hope you gave a large tip for the person coming out in the rain at 10:30pm...right?
I dont know if i just havent seen the video but can you explain how/why you are able to drive around places that seem very much like private property without any issues, like entering building and nail houses and such. thanks
Woa! hard to believe the price and the efficiency of shipping goods in China, you will never find any company to pick up goods at your door step at 10:00 pm. in the USA.
Are you shipping your bike to Qing Dao soon?
Awesome mail system and awesome food!
I tried both roasted duck and roasted goose in hong kong. The goose was okay, but the roasted duck was one of the few foods I liked there.
C-milk will eat anything and call it delicious. he said the pickled chicken foot was good.
qwqwqwqw99 it rly is tho..
Lmao.😂
My favorite TH-cam channel.
Duck replaced turkey as our default thanksgiving bird a few years ago, though we have to cook two. Tried goose once but I wasn't impressed. However, it didn't look like the one in the video. Might have to give it another shot.
Love your videos guys!

It's an old tradition to eat goose at Christmas in the UK. Delicious with yorkshire puddings and gravy.
Duck is famous in the United States outside upper middle class areas like in the New York, San Francisco Suburbs.
I don't know anyone who eats goose here in California but people definitely hunt and eat duck here. You usually only find it in Chinese restaurants as far as eating out goes though. The USA is obsessed with Chicken and Beef for the most part. It's served everywhere from fast food joints to expensive gourmet places.
i made it to the lancing boils line. good channel!
The shipping prices are ridiculously low in China!
if u earn dollar yeah
OMG, Winston. Please don't describe food that way again. I'm pregnant and retching. >.

Sodomy is eco friendly and Abortion is green.
@@MrRorySteel Too bad it's too late to pass that tip on to your mom.
No amazon prime in Russia (
That type of shipment in Canada would cost $30+, you'd have to package it yourself, and drop it off at the post office... which closes at 5pm.
