Congratulations on your first Video Podcast. It was great and you were confident and ready with your normal dose of humour. The analysis of the difficult words in the Podcast was very helpful and practical. Your patient guidance of pronouncing each word slowly is effective in helping us with the correct way of speaking Portuguese. Muito obrigada, Rui e Joel.Que Deus abençoe vocês. 👌🏾👏🙏

Lembrei me hoje e descobri o vosso canal!

Amazing, indeed. Good work. Thanks for sharing. À la prochaine.

Yes. I've heard of sepsis. It's when a localized infection - like in the lungs - spreads into the bloodstream and goes through the entire body. It is very serious and can lead to death. By the way. I"ve listened to your podcasts and am very excited to see you two on TH-cam. I really enjoy your lessons and I learn a lot. However, since my first Portuguese studies were Brazilian, às vezes e difícil entender seu sotaque de Portugal. :-)

Normalmente qualquer nativo falaria "vocês fazem-me rir"

    • @jojibot9193
      @jojibot9193 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Só uma correção: Vós fazeis-me RIR*
      To laugh (verb) = Rir
      Riso is the noun “laugh”

I love this new mixed format! It’s a great approach that holds my interest and delivers understanding of what’s being said in multiple ways. I’m a beginner learning European Portuguese and I find it quite helpful. Loved the texts from your Mãe about your Avó. Adds an extra personal touch of família which everyone can relate to. Especially meaningful to those of us who have family who are Portuguese.
Sepsis is actually a very life threatening disease. Most people recover from mild sepsis, but the average mortality rate for septic shock is about 40 percent. Thx again!

Outro exemplos?
Sepse in English is similar - sepsis - we must thank the Normands for adopting the language of the Franks and invading England in 1066. Joel, as for your not knowing the word, it is probably an indictment of the Canadian education system - I say that as a joke as a fellow Canadian.
Also, although the colloquial term we use is cavity, we do have the word caries in English as well, however, this tends to be used only in the dentistry field and not in everyday conversation.

The medical term for cavaties is dental caries. I think that's the same as Portuguese. It probably comes from the Latin. Sepsis or septic is a raging blood stream infection that could be fatal. That's probably Latin too. Dental infections usually settle on the heart valves. That's bad news I'm an RN.
