About 40 years ago, I was on one of those “somewhere in England” to Aberdeen trains with a very English guard. He managed many of the Scottish names in his announcement (including Kirkaldy) but pronounced Leuchars as Lurchers. Incidentally, I am in Lancaster where we also had a linoleum works. Lovely layout and I love the “it’s not a race” attitude. Looking forward to the next one, whenever it turns up.
Cheers! Yeah it’s not a race for me. Some TH-camrs will do endless (repeat) videos just to get a video up and to get views. I upload when I think there is something worth filming. Funny, I was doing a bit of research on linoleum in the uk and Lancaster came up!
Great video Dave. With the factory, we'd say it's a good day for the Queen to visit lol. Very clean atm, but I know with your attention to detail, it won't stay like that for long lol. Keep up the good work
Cheers. While the Factory buildings are weathered the yard needs some junk and stuff. While I don’t want to over do it, I’ll be looking to add something. :-) plus it’s not as clean and bright as the camera shows….ive got lights for filming that make it look bright and less grimy :-)
Looking fantastic, love the corrugated fencing. I’d probably wouldn’t weather the new ballast. I’d make It look as if some engineering works had recently been done. Whatever you do it will look great.
It’s perhaps a bit too clean. But I see your point. I might make the ballast on the incline cleaner as I’ve yet to fully weather the ballast there. :-)
Dave interesting update, the factory is coming along nicely and the corrugated fencing looks excellent I do,wonder however if it needs to be the other way around with the frame facing the railway as otherwise you would need to be standing rail side to fix panels in place. Don’t know if you can find any photos of such a location
Cheers. The fencing in this instance is correct….as if it was the other way around people on the outside could use the Frame to climb up. Defeating the purpose of a security fence/boundary fence. I used photos of such fencing at a few sites locally and also checked online. The fencing will be positioned so that the flat face is outwards, away from the plot of land being fenced off.
Great update here Dave, some great work done. Big fan of having drivers in the cabs of our locomotives, I do with we could buy a big pack of them like we can for seated figures though, most times when I’m thinking of fitting a driver tone of my models looking online so many places charge quite a price for them, now sure they are painted up but it’s just a small figure, Accurascales have interested me but not got round to pickup it any up, to be honest it would just be better for manufacturers to include them with the model, after all that is what hornby have been doing recently with many of their new releases and hornbys ones are actually very good. A great update overall here Dave, keep up the great work.
Personally, I like the conduit under the track, whether it's prototypical or not. But then I'm not filming my layout for armchair critics! Do you use plain water or wet water (water with a couple of drops of washing up liquid) before you apply the glue mix? I know there's a million ways to do ballast and either way works. Like the corrugated fencing. I have a tool I saw Luke Towan use to create my own corrugated iron panels. To be honest, sometimes making your own is overrated! Cheers
I value my time so if it’s available to buy I’ll have a look. It’s not as if it’s a massive detail. I’d rather spend my time doing scratch built buildings. As for the ballast…I wet the ballast with plain old tap water. The drops of washing up liquid are in the glue mix.
@@DeanPark I put washing up liquid in both, but whatever works best is great. Looking forward to watching the linoleum factory progress - I like the paint skips, nice touch
Hi. No as 99% of the time it runs the same way as I’ve got a coupler at one end only. So unless it’s light engine moves it’s only usually running with the number one end leading.
Looking good again, nice progress on the layout. Just one thing ... did you forget to place a sleeper on the outside track below the rail joiners ? @16:56 ??
Are auto ballasters really saving any time or getting a better finish as opposed to just dumping it on and brushing it ? You gonna have the T,hall seagull mooching about the estate 😂
@@DeanPark At the end of the long straight on the upper section near the station. The track is straight then a short, tight curve then straight again rather than a gentle transition. Probably not notable side on but looks odd when looking down the track.
Moved house. Old layout will be no more. Not even started his loft in his new house. Unlikely to see much from him in sometime. From what I know, having spoken to him regularly….he is enjoying the new challenges of renovating his property and is enjoying being away from the hobby.
You sir are a master of your craft, the level of realism is quite astounding. You are an inspiration to us all!
Cheers. I do try to do the best I can with the skills I have. :-)

The British Airways ad always reminds me Moonraker! 😄
Haha. I know the one you’re talking about lol.
great see you running trains thanks lee

Another great update looking forward to seeing what you bring to the layout soon
Cheers. Hopefully I’ll be able to push on during the autumn and winter. Looking forward to getting more scenery done.

A very great update Dave!!! Many thanks for sharing this video! Cheers Onno.
08:05 Wonderful weathering of the wagons. V realistic
They do look good don’t they. Pleased with them. :-)
Another great update Dave. Well done
Great video as usual - love the rusty fencing - will deffo be trying that out on my layout - and agree fitting that crew looked VERY stressy!
Great update here Dave, some great work done.

Cheers. Yeah Hornby have been. But interestingly now on the new HST! But on the class 91 etc
A model railway is never finished haha. Great progress so far 🙂
This is true. And that’s what makes it a life long hobby. Always something to do. :-)
Brilliant layout Dave VERY impressive 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks :-)
Dave as always your ballasting is SUPERB mate
I’ve had a fair bit of practice at dean park. A few metres have been done over the years haha.
You could always include the Dean Park Hotel somewhere - since they sponsor Raith Rovers you could keep the Kirkcaldy connection going that way too!😀
Oh a football stadium….that would fill a large space though. 🤔 imagine scratch building that tho?! Lol
I'm sure it won't be long before the figures will move and make sounds as well as the locomotives!
God help us. They’ll start telling me that they ain’t working Sundays and need a better pay deal! Lol
Welcome back !
Cheers. I do enjoy a summer break :-)
hypothetically would acurascales drivers fit in other 00 models im tempted to put some in my scotrail DBSOs
Not sure in the case of the 92.
But I have fitted their 37 drivers to my Bachmann class 37! So they are transferable.

Dave, would you consider putting crew in both cabs so when you run round to go the other way you have a crew in the lead cab?
Hi. No as 99% of the time it runs the same way as I’ve got a coupler at one end only. So unless it’s light engine moves it’s only usually running with the number one end leading.
@@DeanPark i see.
I never noticed you only had 1 coupling on it.

I couldn’t. There are two dropper wires there preventing this. Once weathered it will not be visible.

You gonna have the T,hall seagull mooching about the estate 😂
I think they give a more even coverage. But each to their own.
I will have a few things going on at the estate 😂
Love your layout but have you ever thought oabout relaying some or your original track laying to put in some better transitional curves?
Hi. Where and What curves? The trains run smoothly around the curves. So I don’t see the need to relay it.
@@DeanPark At the end of the long straight on the upper section near the station. The track is straight then a short, tight curve then straight again rather than a gentle transition. Probably not notable side on but looks odd when looking down the track.
Right at the start in the intro is the curve in question.
Hi dean park
Zombie drivers. That's how the railways can avoid future pay disputes!
Haha. Or just get your union to hold out for a good deal….i wonder what union protects model railway drivers!?? 😝
What’s happening with everard junction anybody?
