- I had some problems with switches on the same nintendo account once I downloaded the DLC. NINTENDO WOULDN'T LET ME VISIT MY ISLANDS!!!!
Terrible for Monty and Decker.
So, with a stupid amount of extra money, this is how I changed the player who plays the island rep (because you can't change the rep of your island!)
So, Monty and Decker now have thier own emails and accounts! I'm so sad.

Also the only other way I figure you could change the island representative account is by doing a whole ass island transfer between two switches, when you switch back it asks you the same thing.
So if you need to not delete an account and you got two, you could do that. But not worth it if youre gonna lose another island because of it.
I have the physical copy of the game and had this situation so i took my chances and can confirm that after deleting the users I didnt want whatever user I kept was given the option to keep the island I have already started on! This video was helpful thanks!

My little brother was the mayor on my console! Now that he has left my island I have no mayor and can’t do anything required by mayor
if you want a mayor/island representative on your island you’ll need to create a new nintendo account and click play for animal crossing, then it should give you the option to use there data, hope this helped
You have saved me...thank you so much. i played acnh with my friend's acc to try the game, ended up hooked and played an entire day.
I bought the game myself and thought it would be easy to move progress, but nope, was coming to terms with deleting a whole day's worth of work.
A day may not sound like much, but honestly i felt immensely attached to my character and the island. It really felt like I had un-desserted a desserted island.

Thanks so much. Family members can be cruel. My kiddo is handling it better today. Life isn’t fair and sometimes, even when you pay for something, if it isn’t set up to be *yours* whether because it’s a boyfriend/girlfriend, family, etc…. you can lose it. It’s a tough lesson but learning to bounce back is the best lesson to be learned here. This is the last time this can ever happen as I’m getting a her a new switch for Christmas. Well, hopefully. We’ve left an abusive situation w/ her father and between threats on my life, attacks like this on my daughter.. it’s taking longer to get life back on track. The island situation is just one of many things being done to my daughter and I because we said enough and moved out. As soon as I get full custody, I can leave the state with her and move close to my family. I am grateful for this video and I appreciate your kind response. Happy Holidays, if you celebrate!

My ex let me keep his switch and unfortunately he purchased animal crossing on his account that I was playing under. So what I did was exactly as you said, I made sure that my user associated with my own Nintendo account didn't have a villager on the island. I made a "burner account" aka a "Bob" and set up a new villager on the island. Then deleted mg ex's user account from the switch.
Unfortunately I needed to purchase the game under my Nintendo account/user. Then I was able to start the game under my own user and have my game back as the island representative as I'd always been under my ex's account.
Hope that helps clarify for anyone wondering without a physical copy!

Hello! Im a bit scared to do this so you can answer a tiny question? If I do this with one account having the digital game (a friend's account) and the other having the physical game (my account) and I delete the account that has the digital game, it would work the same way?

I was trying to buy Nintendo online though the gmail account was linked to my brothers old account (no idea why) so i couldn’t buy it as he had forgotten the password and didn’t manage to reset it. I transferee the data and luckily it worked. I sympathise and relate with that prompt. Fell into a similar thing when I was impatient and tried to use e-copy of ACNH, and it was stuck in limbo. That prompt for checking licensing is annoying (mores when you have a PHYSICAL copy IN the switch at the time of alunch)
Question(s) (which I might have missed despite watching over):
* Had the Monty character played yet on this island to the established island when samioni was the representative?
* ^^ In regards to above, wouldn't deleting samioni just leave Monty as an orphaned 'rogue' user? as a result you ended up with 2 orphans (Monty and token bob)
* Since we don't know what Samioni looked like, confirming that THE Monty was used when game was launched (confused as you'd said "You change the user but the character stays the same" at 9:30 ). Not sure if you launched as Monty but became Samioni.
* Confirming the result of this that Monty keeps all possessions etc, and that was Monty's house that you come out of when the game was first launched (since you'd mentioned the house/tent would remain despite deleting the user)
Hello! Monty was always the only character on the island, until Bob. Samioni is my name on the switch itself, and the Nintendo online account, Monty now has her own!
Thank you for the help! I would just like to ask, if you buy a new switch, and it’s linked to the island on your original switch. And on your new switch if it tells you thank there’s currently multiple residents on the switch, do you have to delete the island representative on the original switch? Or can you just proceed as a resident your already are, so then would you become the new island resident?
Hello, I’m not sure! I think Tom Nook would be clear when you join whether the new character could be a representative (if there isn’t one) or you just start as an extra character if there’s already a representative. I’m not sure what you mean by your island is linked to your original switch? Did you transfer the data?
I don’t want to delete a user. If I just delete the player data of the user who is the island representative, does this option still come up? I don’t want to restart the entire game just so my user can be the island representative.

Or the user account monty is controling the old samioni character? Im asking because my gf wants her character to be the representative, not possessing mine. Thanks!

So, Monty is my character, Samioni was my user (Home Screen on the switch) I wiped the user account completely off the switch, that left Monty existing in the ether. I then started a brand new user (also called Monty!) and when I first started animal crossing as that new user, the game asked me if I wanted to take over control of Monty - the island rep, or start a whole new character (and as such, I think a whole new island)
I chose to take over playing as Monty, and so I get to play the island rep!
So, Monty, the character, is the original representative, same diys, same possessions, everything. But the user account is new (and yes, I bought a new Nintendo account for that user too!)
So you’re changing the user (who plays whatever game is on your switch) the actual character on animal crossing is the same one who started the island. Hope that makes sense!

I know understand and think that my case doesnt aplly exactly to yours. Because my gf user account and character already exists on the island, it would be like bob take over the representative rol. @@kevincoudureszenz5357 yeah, her character would be the Bob in that situation. Unless she takes over your character and changes the look? They’d have the same name tho.
I Play on the second account and I can’t delete the first account because I want an axe. If you delete the first account entirely does the second account become the first?

So my friend gave me his switch and I blindly started an an island while logged on his account. Would I still be able to transfer it? I have the physical copy.
Do I need to do the island backup before attempting this? Do I need be logged in on my own Nintendo switch account when I create the second user?

Hello, you just take over the character at whatever position they’re at. So you keep what they already had, diys etc.
Hi, I'm reading that if you delete your user, you lose all saved data. Did you have this saved to your console or on a micro sd card?
Hello, the conslole. That’s why you have a second character controlled by a second user, then the island doesn’t wipe because someone else is playing it, they just can’t be the representative. So when another user starts the game they’re asked it they want to take over the representative character from the first, wiped user. It gets confusing!
I'm still confused. If i delete the user who is the resident rep, do I lose the island and all players on it, or does another user become the rep?
Hello. That’s why I put Bob there. I don’t know what happened if you just wipe your only character. Put a spare character on the island but don’t play them. Then wipe your island representative, then start a brand new character (who you want to be the representative) and Tom Nook should ask you if you want to be the new representative. Hope that makes sense.

I am trying to move my character to a new switch (my mom took my old one) but I am the island representative. If I delete my user will I still have everything and be able to move to my new island with all my stuff? I am scared of losing everything I had previously.
I think that’s a different process you need a (free) app called ‘island transfer tool’ on the new and the old switch and follow the instructions. Good luck!
You forgot to mention that you have the cartridge inside the switch while doing this. If you do it with one digital copy it will not let you start the program.

I'm trying to change the Island Representative to my user profile, since my daughter was the first one to start the game.
Doesn't work at all for me. Am I missing something? There's four users on our island/switch. When deleting the representative profile from the switch, the other profiles starts up the game just like normal. When adding the deleted user to the switch again and starting the game, the game prompts me to select her user as representative again.
Oh... I think I might have found the problem. I'm already on the island. This would only work with a profile that's not on the island, then it can take over the role of island representative.
In other words, this method does NOT make it possible to swap representative status between two residents on the island, correct?
@@PixelPatrikSWE hello, yes, unfortunately she’d have to wipe her existing and start a brand new character. Or, start a whole new user. Nintendo have not made this easy.
question, if i delete the account that started the island does it transfer all the data like recipes and everything over to that account?? or do you lose all of that
Hello, I’m afraid not. Itll be a new character, or whatever your current character knows. When you wipe them their knowledge goes with them!

Hello, I’m pretty sure they do. Nintendo seem to have set it up to get as much money as possible out of you! There’s a chance you don’t, but then you won’t be able to go online or anything. You may get away with just your own user on the switch. I got an extra Nintendo account to do this.

But i wanted my fave villagers and some items, so I'm trying to move them to my 1st island.

Hello, I’m not sure if you need a new resident. But you can always make a spare account (you don’t have to pay for a Nintendo account for this) and wipe them after.
going to try this on tuesday when my physical copy comes! i currently am on my switch with my boyfriends account cuz he’s the only one that had owned the game (digitally) and im going to delete his account off my switch and i hope it lets me take over with my account (that isnt on the island yet). i also read in one of the comments that when it didnt work for someone, they logged back into the main account again and they could still become the island rep like normal again so i hope that if i mess it up at first i wont lose everything 😅 i also saw on a reddit post that you dont need to create a “bob” but im scared lololol

I have an island on my switch v1 - this island is a digital download and has me as the island representative. I have two other people playing on this island. I dont know if itll be possible- but I want to change the representaive from me to my aunt who is already on the island and leave my grandmother as a 2nd player on the island. I dont mind getting rid of my house and my character- but I want my aunt to be able to play as herself... we dont want to loose this island.... is there a way to do this-- cause the video is confusing me...

1. Will the new character (in your case it’s Monty) be living in the old characters house and have the old characters furniture?
2. Will Monty still be able to live in their own home
3. Will Samioni’s home disappear or will it just become empty?
4. If Samioni’s home stays then will some other character be able to stay in that home?

1 when you wipe the other character alll their stuff goes. This will include their house and everything in it.
Now I’ve started typing I can’t see the rest of your comment! I think you asked about Monty’s house, your new character will start in a tent or if it’s an existing character they’ll have whatever they have right now.

Can I buy a digital copy of ACNH on my account, which is on my switch, delete my sons account which had the island first, then launch ACNH on my account and take rep spot? Will digital copies work or do I need a physical card copy? Thanks!
Hello, I’m not sure! It should work because it’s under your account, but with a physical copy, the switch doesn’t know who’s copy it is, so that might be safer. Plus you can get cheaper physical ones on eBay, so I go for that. Sorry I’m not more help!
We’ll see how it goes lol Another question. When I go to delete the User, it pops up saying it deletes all saved data associated with the user stored in systems memory etc. Did yours do that? You don’t show the steps or what pops up when you delete the user

Never mind! I got impatient and took the plunge. It worked! I now have my island on my switch with my Nintendo account that started out on my sons switch. Thank you!! Downloading the digital copy worked, I just had to set my sons switch back to his primary one, then set mine to my primary one so I could download a new copy of ACNH. This is what I’ve been searching for all week! You’re our hero!

I got a question I downloaded the dlc and it has the same problem that if the first console is playing I can’t but my animal crossing is physical if I dowload the dlc then I delete the old user the dlc still work?
Hello, I think it’s linked to your Nintendo account. It can tell that you’ve only paid for the dlc game once, so it’ll only let you play one island at a time. With the main game you can buy another physical cartridge of the game, but you can’t with the dlc. You need a Nintendo account for each island. I’m not sure but I think you’d have the same problem.

You have to have a separate game, physical or download. That was the problem; if I was playing on one switch I could visit my other island because Nintendo wouldn’t let me turn it on. It’s set up so we have to pay them the most it seems!
So im wondering do you have to save the data or backup, anything else? Cause im scared 😓

My daughter has played for 4 years with a physical card on our switch. We “bought” the switch from her uncle and he is estranged. He changed the email log in so now she’s locked out of her account. She is 11 yrs old! This is 4 yrs of work on this island and I want to know… will this work? Will she have access to everything the island rep had but with a new email address on the new switch? She owns her character, the actual switch and put in 4 yrs of work!!! For him to lock her out of her account for issues between adults in her life is just unfair… and yes, I know life is unfair. I’m just hoping, praying! that this may work. When you say new character comes in and takes over as Island rep, does that mean losing the original island reps house, storage, bells?? I’m not sure if I’m supposed to transfer the entire island add “Monty” and “Bob” to the new save and then delete her, to allow “Monty” to take her place?? As in live in her house, have access to her storage and bells but as a new character with a new email address. Believe me, I NEED to delete her uncle from our family group. I took away adult privileges as I am family admin but I don’t want to kick him from the family entirely until we figure out how to make a new representative, while keeping her hard work! She can play as my character but I rarely played and don’t have recipes learned, extensive inventory and the bells that she has accumulated. Any advice is appreciated!!! And prayers for her uncle who has issues. I mean what 46 yr old man does this to a child because he’s mad at other adults in her life? She doesn’t even understand what’s going on! I’m so sorry to read this. People can be so cruel, even to family, even to children. I’m not sure if you can wipe his character if you can’t log in as him. You can try. What should happen is you wipe the representative (him) and then start the game under a brand new log in. Or wipe his whole switch account from that switch itself. It will mean being a new character with no DIYs or stuff, but your other character can give her all the stuff simply by dropping it on the ground and her picking it up. When the new character starts, as there’s no island representative, Tom Nook should intervene and offer the job to the new character. I’m not sure what will happen with him locking his account, you might not be able to wipe him. Maybe then it is time for a fresh island, new and just hers. She can build it up and make it her own. She’ll get the stuff back. In my letsplays, I e restarted so many times! Another thing is, if you have a nice friend with animal crossing, you could drop off all the stuff you want to keep on their island, restart, and then go back for it and pick it up. She won’t have her DIYs but she’ll have her stuff. I hope this helps, I’m sorry all this has happened. It’s not fair and shouldn’t happen to a kid. As the family admin, I hope you can get him out. Wipe his account from the switch settings. Please let me know how it goes. Best of luck.

Hello, I’m not sure. You can only have one representative on an island, but you can have a few other players too. They just can’t go villager hunting and stuff. Sorry if I’m not answering well!

On my switch all 3 of my siblings and me made our nintendo accounts and stuff. I dont know who made the island as theres 2 other people on the island and i havent played on the switch for like 2 years, so ill have to figure that out, and see who is the owner of the island. The problem is that in this video you said that you needed the dlc and well… i dont have it. So im not sure if i try to do this, if itll work. But i dont have a choice! Its either i stay softlocked or i do smt about it and have a 50/50 chance of losing all my hardwork. I have to grind nook miles on one of my sisters acc to see if they are the owner or not. Wise me luck! (Please tell me if i DO or do not need the dlc)

@@Samionigaming I have to ask my sister if I can delete her profile (it was her switch previously) though she didn’t play very much. Most of the games she played were 4h or under. Except smash. She had 20h in that. But let’s hope!
Update: she said it was okay, though a new problem has arose. On the switch, she was the one who bought some of the games. Including animal crossing. So i think if i delete her account, it wont let me play the animal crossing game. I will keep searching on the web for now. But currently iam in a pickle…
2nd update: if i delete her account, i cant play animal crossing, so i think if i ever want to do something i might have to go to her acc to do so till i find another way to do it. Though i can still do pretty much everything except continue the story.
Update 3: it was the wrong sister.. so im gonna ask the right sister if i can delete hers. And she didnt buy it so nothing bad will happen! :D except i might not be able to play pokemon violet..

Update 6…… im losing hope, i tried to delete their house in settings but it still says they are the representative. Maybe if i add their acc back itll all be fixed and ill just have to grind on 2 accs..
@@IceePog I think you need to restart your character. It’ll mean having to build up your house and diys again, but if you restart your character, Tom Nook should ask you if you want to be representative. OR leave your character on there as an extra, then start a brand new character. Basically you need to start your character again. You’ll start on the island as a new character, but the island will still be there. Nintendo have not made this easy. Like if your sister restarts now you’ve wiped her character, Tom would ask her if she wants to be rep. It has to be a new character now who’ll become the rep. That’s why I had to have Monty start front eh beginning. I really hope that helps.

This is a fantastically helpful video! But I have another niche question if anybody happens to see this!! My wife and I play on the same console. If ONE of us has a Nintendo online account, and we both play n the same island(same console), she the representative, me a parasite that lives on the island, can we both benefit from online features if one account has Nintendo Online? (Playing online, visiting other islands, etc.)

I embarrassingly need multiple accounts to make my videos with different characters. You can only use her account if you use her character. They won’t let you use her account I’m afraid. I’m so pissed off. My brother bought the game on my console. Became the mayor. I spent WAY more time than he did and played for months. He has a switch now. Transferred himself to a new swicth and now my town has no mayor and we can’t do anything that requires a mayor

You could start a new profile on your switch and when you start the game Tom Nook should ask you to be the representative, then you’ll have two characters to play with. My islands have 4 characters each on them! Only one can do mayor stuff, but they can all be played with. Just play the other character when you want to build stuff.

Hello. If you delete your user on the switch, the island representative (in my case, Monty) just exists in the ether, I played. When you start the game with a brand new user, the game will ask you if you want to take over playing the representative. I’m not sure what happens if you have another character left on the island! I get the feeling the game will want to start a new island. That’s why I put the character Bob on there.

Hello, the second player on an island can’t do as much as the first player. They can put up cliffs and stuff, but not villager hunt I think. What is it you want permission to do?

Hello, it should ask you when you start the game afresh with a new account. Try starting a whole new account on your switch, then starting Animal Crossing with that account, hopefully it’ll ask you then. I hope you get your rep back.

Does this work for downloaded version. I have the family extended pack. I had my account along with my daughters in the Nintendo lite where animal crossing was originally downloaded. I recently bought the oled and have a new island for myself. I’m still the representative in my old island in the Lite but I want my daughter to be representative without loosing the island., and to no longer have to be connected to wifi. Would this work ir would I need the cartridge version for her? I hope all of this makes sense.

Hello, unfortunately I haven’t found any way you can. Nintendo seem to have made it that the first person to play the game gets to have the representative. Annoying, but there you go.
It didn’t work, and now my whole island is deleted on one switch, and my other I can’t make any progress in the game..

@@Samionigaming Because I deleted the island representative on the switch account, which in the game the island representative still exists. And now I can’t do anything

@@Samionigaming No, that wouldn’t work because the representative is still in the game. But I’ve deleted the actual Nintendo account. So I can’t do anything
What I want to know is how you got the same island on multiple Switches because I have not been able to get anything to work to transfer my island to a second Switch.
Hello, I don’t have the same island on other switches, I have different islands on them. I’m not sure if transferring an island would also leave it on the original switch. This is just me changing the player so Nintendo would let me visit those other islands. I think to transfer you need another app downloaded on your switches: transfer tool. It’s free.
@@Samionigaming I found the transfer app! And thanks to your video I was able to link the primary resident to my nintendo account on the island that I started the day the game came out instead of being stuck on my husband's nintendo account (since he was the only one with online when we bought the game originally). So yay!

So I deleted the original island resident but it says that the original island resident is still there although i deleted the account
I think the house/tent remains after you delete someone, so maybe you need to go into the games settings and wipe them from there?
@@SamionigamingI did the same thing, and Tom nook is saying I can’t delete the island rep unless I delete the games data. I also don’t see saved data for anch so I don’t know what to do. Tips?

@@Chris-kw7bn I did, I just made another account on my switch with the same email that was used for the island rep... It worked for me

Just to inform anyone who's confused because I got confused with the whole Monty naming
1. Can you switch your representative to an already EXISTING account/island resident?
Answer is no you can't, you have to make a brand new account to take over as representative and you'll be playing as the old representative's villager
2. Does deleting the main account for the island delete the island itself?
Nope, as long as you have second resident (in any case a bob) on the island, it will remain but remember, you can't be a representative
(Also DO NOT DELETE SAVED DATA, delete the player if you want to keep the island)
So the 'second' resident will become the main account for the island?

Like I had a different game I play on each on the same switch and I got online on my other I regret it bc now I can't do anything on animal crossing and idk if you can do something with the other the same on the main please help
