    You'd be surprised how many PC builders don't know how to drill out rivets. Neat project although a massive air cooler would be more my style. You do have the room for it.
    As for the urine colored coolant, no words. Was gonna say something about the rad mounting but you got that figured out. With tubes down, you don't have to worry about air in the lines.

    Ok, you played one video game. And it’s crysis 3. Good choice, that’s the kind of thing I was talking about last time. If you do revisit this, I would like to see more than one video game being played for 1 minute at the end, but beggars can’t be choosers, I guess. This is a Frankenstein’s monster Xbox 360 with Mountain Dew tanks for cooling, not just any old piece of metal with green and blue on it. Personally, I would like to see a test of how long you could keep this console on during a game before it freezes. That’s about the only serious issue I ever had with the Xbox 360, so I’m interested in how much water cooling would affect this. That thermometer on the case was also a good idea. Might want to look into that and gameplay some more.

    • @TommyHoughton
      @TommyHoughton  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ll do a dedicated short on the runtime of the console, It seems to be performing better with the radiator tubes at the bottom. I did have a bunch of game footage, but was unsure how much to include. I’ll keep you updated!

    • @3ofSpades
      @3ofSpades 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Uh, more than a minute dog. If you’re needing to make your TH-cam money, then you could easily make a 10 minute video where you play 5 super demanding games with 2 minute sections each. This isn’t a hard task. I could think of that in 2 seconds. I’m not the one who has the crazy console here, I’m just watching you do anything except play video games on a video game console. I feel like I’m Dr. Evil telling you that you just don’t get it. This isn’t a candy bar wrapper you’re supposed to throw away when you’re done with it. If you have a bunch of game footage, maybe you can use it to make $2 more from the ads. I mean, if you want to get a cheap capture card so you don’t have to record your tv on your phone, they sell them at your local Walmarts or Best Buy for $20. I guess that’s probably more like your local micro center or tesco for 20 pounds if you’re in Europe. Same difference.

      I think that would be an excellent follow up video, I'll start ordering some of the recommended games. I'll try get, GTA V, perhaps Far Cry 3, battlefield, and Skyrim (or Halo 3 *or COD). I've got one of those cheap hdmi to usb capture cards that is tested and working with the console, I'll definitely be using it next time. Sorry for not understanding and showing more gameplay, I kept telling myself it was a build video, and I was worried that if I had too much game footage, it might get boring. Stupid on my end. I appreciate your opinion! I have a big video I'm working on currently, but once it's complete, (or I need to take a break from it) I'll get straight onto the "Stress Testing Video," I'll keep you updated. Thanks again. *edit found a good deal for a bundle of games that I'll get ASAP including: Mass effect, Elder Scrolls IV, Skyrim, Far Cry 3, Battlefield 3, COD BO, COD MW 2 and Borderlands.

      @@TommyHoughton Sounds like gaming time alright. I might recommend playing Halo 4, Titanfall, and Metal Gear Solid V if you can find them. Those games are some real graphical showpieces from the end of the gen, and really pushed some crazy upper limits. Especially MGSV, that Xbox 360 port was crazy.

    A lot of people don't realize that when you get rid of HDMI and stop using it, your console starts getting 120 frames per second.

    • @TommyHoughton
      @TommyHoughton  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What do you mean? Is this because of the limitations of the HDMI version that the console uses, so when it’s not connected to a display it technically runs at a higher fps? Or am I misunderstanding. Thanks for your comments!

    • @mitchsterling3266
      @mitchsterling3266 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TommyHoughton the Xbox 360 was engineered without HDMI. Non of the early consoles had it yet. It was invented to run on the rgb/audio cable with a tv from that same period, so most games like GTA IV COD WAW, etc. 2006, etc. They will display a faster picture and more content if you don't use HDMI.

    • @TommyHoughton

      That’s great to know, thanks for explaining!

    • @mitchsterling3266
      @mitchsterling3266 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To get the best experience you need the original 20gb HDD with a premium chip set console from 2006 that is non HDMI and run the game directly off the CD to see things you have never seen before. The problem is that these original machines, hard drives and disks are passing away rapidly, so if you don't have all of that, you will have some missing game content but you should natively run on the rgb cables. The original 2006 20 GB HDD with it's sibling consoles unlocks original Xbox games and additional in game textures, models, and animations for certain 360 titles. I figured this out recently.

    • @mitchsterling3266
      @mitchsterling3266 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TommyHoughton Back in the day, fps was based on different brands of CD. People would wait outside for stores to open on black Friday to get stacks of CDS to burn games on. The idea was, the nicer the CD , your disk player didn't work as hard, the better load times made of for fps, not the CPU or GPU temperature. I was hardcore hotswapper back in the day and I drank a lot of mnt dew. The entire websites I used to chat on with my friends got completely taken down. But I urge you to try burning your own games for the 360. It can be a lot of fun.

    Funny, at least your old graphics card had fans, which means it was probably way more powerful than those I found recently, which only had hatsinks. Btw, are you sure you didn't hurt yourself the way you ripped all those components out? It surprices me you didn't use any plastic straps at all, I thought that would be the final solution for the power socket in the back.
    Truthfully I'm a lot more hard on myself to make it look good and to make it perfect, so sad enough many times I just don't finish it because of that. So I guess it's good with someone like you who are a lot more "it looks awful but it works". Hope you don't get offended dude.

    Ok this one is much better than the previous one. Really not much I can criticize this time, maybe the temps still being inaccurate and you calling rgh a softmod (it is actually a hardmod since you need to solder stuff). Except that all I can say is get a different motherboard revision so you can actually take accurate temp readings and you can probably relocate the eject button to the top of the case so you can eject manually instead of having to do it thru the dashboard.

    • @TommyHoughton
      @TommyHoughton  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, monitoring coolant temp wasn't what I wanted originally, but having some "indication" was a must in my opinion. You're right about rgh, I'll make note of that for next time. I really want to do this project again with a slim model or such, as it gives me a chance to either do internal watercooling, or ditch the disk drive to install games locally on the HDD and make the console as this as possible, similar to DIY Perks' PS5 watercooled build. Thanks for your comments!
