Heads up everyone! Mario's 40th anniversary will happen next year, and the Switch is still on the market. Just wanted to mention something like this, I still remember Mario's 35th anniversary happening not that long ago. Time really flies.
Honestly with how bad Mario's 35th anniversary was handled, I have ZERO hope for his 40th. Nintendo always seems to have this bargin bin attitude towards Mario's anniversaries. But when it comes to say Zelda or Kirby or Pokemon's anniversaries, they treat it like a goddamn national holiday.
This is stupid cuz i didn't have a switch, or the ability to obtain one, until long after it was discontinued. IDK why companies like Nintendo and Sony use such anti-consumer practices.
Emulation =/= piracy! I'm really sick of this myth being perpetuated. You can dump and emulate games you have legally purchased. You can also play pirated games on real hardware.
True but very few people actually have the tools/go through the effort to dump games which is what leads to them just pirating it for ease of access. They aren't the same, but they're closely related.
Frankly if the game isn't being officially sold anymore then I stop seeing it as piracy", and even then its not like I care if it is or not anwyays- not like anyone's gonna do anything about it. Only reason I'd care is if it's an indie game
I bought 3D all stars - i dont think it was a horrible decision; having a nintendo licensed official rerelease of 3 of my favorite childhood games on a modern console was absolutely fantastic! That being said, the price point is unjust, and the FOMO limited release was a clear cash grab. If Nintendo cared genuinely about archival of games, they would offer a far more clearcut, accessible, and up to date copy of each experience. That all being said, Its 3 full length games for 60 bucks. Thats 20 dollars each, and thats well over a hundred hours of playtime. In my opinion, that justifies my purchase.
Yeah but those games aren't being made anymore either so it works the same way all these games are no longer being made but yeah you already have the games so that's fair
The least Nintendo could've done to make this collection better is maybe have some "Behind the Scenes" features, even if its just old archived footage, and hell, ya know that Mario red Switch Nintendo released on the same day that "Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury" came out? Why didn't they instead release that Mario red Switch as a 2020 Black Friday item and bundle 3D All Stars with that?
Would’ve been better for 2 other Mario games for 3D all Stars like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and 3D Land to add to Galaxy sunshine and 64 plus the soundtrack for all of them
There was one guess that I know is that it could've been a test to see if Gamecube and Wii Emulation works on the Switch which might hint at a Switch online Gamecube and Wii Service somewhere down the last years of the Switches lifespan or the next handheld hybrid but, it's just my guess.
I actually got 3D All-Stars before it was taken out from digital stores, Even though I have it on digital, I'm planning on getting a physical version of the game when I get the chance.
This gave nintendo the reason to crackdown on roms and iso's as they have done lately. Unfortunately for them, people will allways be able to get their hands on a digital copy of the original if they look hard enough.
I do not understand FOMO as a business strategy... Would it not make you *more money* to keep a product available for as long as possible? I can't comprehend how only having it for a small window nets you a bigger profit. I can understand no longer producing physical copies, but there isn't any excuse I can think of for pulling it off the eshop as well. I feel like it'd still be making them money.
I can play Super Mario 64 in widescreen HD for free, this was obviously a cash grab using a limited release to push consumers into buying a subpar product.
Nice breakdown, still sad it was de-listed. Although I have to say, it really just underlined that for me, gaming on the Switch is not a nice experience :-) There are better ways to play these games including on the go (not so much in 2021, but thanks to Linux gaming, there certainly are 😉)
Yesterday I went around to my regular PawnShops like I always do and found found Animal Crossing Link Awakening Mario Odyssey Mario Kart Tears of the Kingdom Smash Ultimate Pokemon Violet Pokemon Arceus and 2 copies of 3D All Stars for 50 bucks talk about a haulllllllll 😊 Keeping one selling one and make all my money back
Super Mario 3D all stars are still scam either way - Mario 64 is just as shameless rerelease just with sloppy Al Textures and HUD and the game isn't even in widescreen ( Seriously, modders have already been able to do this and Nintendo isn't?). - Super Mario Galaxy is just a The Nvidia Shield China version, but the HUD textures are a little more high-quality. - And only available for 30 days time window to buy it seems like some Bullshit from an info commercial. - Mario sunshine Looks like the only game that little work done So, this bundle isn't even worth $60 Seriously, just play Original games on emulators you'll get a better experience. Edit: OK, so update... I forgot to mention the fact that Mario 64 uses the Japan only shindo version, Which adds things such as rumble, BLJ has patch and also voice lines are removed such as "so long a Bowser" Also known as "so long gay Bowser"
@stripedrajang3571 True, I feel like it is wrong for Nintendo to milk people's nostalgia just for a quick buck for something that isn't even worth the price and I think that it should at least be $30 And no end of production date.
I can't believe i sold my copy for like 40 bucks not that long after it came out. Should've held, had paper hands
If the resale value is currently $120 then the sale value of $60 was very much worth it, not many other things double in value after 4 years
$120 is an exaggeration, it's selling for about $80 on eBay.

@@nebby3 I've seen someone selling it for 127 on eBay but it is mostly around 80 to 90$

Switch 2 will be out around that time
So Nintendo makes more money with people having to permanently pay for their online service to play Mario 64.
This is stupid cuz i didn't have a switch, or the ability to obtain one, until long after it was discontinued. IDK why companies like Nintendo and Sony use such anti-consumer practices.
I boycotted this over the limited digital release garbage.
And I don't regret it for a second.

@user-in8qh3zf9d ok, who cares?
Also, 3D All Stars is emulation, don't forget that too
Got this digitally before it went, And despite its problems, I really enjoy the game.
same !

Correct. $60 was one heck of a deal for those 3 games total.
@@dophelsinette as long as you’re happy with it!

2 of the most popular Mario games......and Sunshine
*fixed it
I bought it for $50 on Ebay since I have a 14hr flight coming up and having a portable Mario Galaxy felt right for the trip
Nice! I completely agree
Cool! I'm going to an Idaho trip and I'm also going to play Mario Galaxy as well

Perfect excuse to hack your switch and acquire it elsewhere.
Absolute facts!

The real crime was naming it after the original Mario All-Stars.
