    Original owner of a 2013 TE310 here; I use my electric start almost every time I start the bike, never really had issues with that. Occasionally on a tougher section where I've stalled a couple times the button wont start the bike first time but I give the kick starter a slight kick and then can start it with the button no problem . Been through hell and back with this bike but it's been a blast to ride!

      I have a 2013 310r. I think they put a better starter for the 13s. Had issues starting at times when hot in a certain part of the stroke but no issues when cold. Earthx battery solved that. Much more power and quick starts. Agree, not geared for street riding but gets you between trails where it shines. Must get it uncorked and reprogrammed. Love it!

    Everyone seems to have issues with the electric start on these bikes. My electric start fires every time. Key on. Red button up. Press back button start and she fires. If it is cold pull the cold start button out on the carb, and after idling for a while push it back in. When the bike is cold you have to put it in neutral for the electric start to work. Holding the clutch in wont work as the bike has to build compression. If you pull the clutch in and try push the bike when cold you will see what I mean. I never have a problem with the electric start. I never kick start my bike.

    Good info as I am looking at one for sale for $3500. I mainly ride dirt and want to make a track at buddy's area.

    Thanks mate I was thinking of getting one of these, well not really a te 310 but a swm 300. This is the only comparison any way back to the Drz400 e
    Thanks

      The SWM uses the older “big block” engine. Very very reliable. The SWM is a solid machine

    Nice review. Thanks for the information. Looking into various dirt bikes, and just learning about the Husqvarna 310. Seems like a good compromise for my needs right now to get comfortable in the dirt

      Thanks. Its a good bike especially if the one you get does not have the hard start issue. The power delivery is so smooth yet strong.

    Sort of looks like an 80s Honda XR. At first glance.

    What is the service intervals on these?

      I changed Oil & Filter every 6-7 hours because they only hold a qt. Keep air filter clean (depends on conditions) The down side is oil changes are a major pain due to drain location and configuration.

    I have a 2011 Husqvarna 310 TE and I like an idiot accidentally hooked up the battery terminals incorrectly after buying and installing a new lithium battery .. I’ve reversed the positive and negative connections and checked the three fuses under the seat and they are not blown.. I get nothing when I turn the key... any help would be greatly appreciated

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      sorry not really my area of expertise but It's possible there is a fuse blown maybe at another location? I don't have that bike anymore and the shop manual went with the bike when I sold it. Try motosport. They usually have diagrams of the electrical system.

      When you hook a battery up backwards the current doesn’t hit the fuse until the damage is already done. You fried something in the electrical system or many things. Start chasing the wires back.

    I commented in your other video but I see you answer it in this video about the starting issue.
    I am looking to buy one of these in 2012 or 2013 model year as they seem affordable.
    Also looking at the TE250.
    The starting issue has me a bit worried from what Ive read.
    Do you think 2-3000 miles on these bike are a lot? Hard to find any low mileage ones in my area.

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have left the starter disconnected after what I have read online. I also recently saw one for sale (older model) that have 9500 miles. The ad said rebuild was done at 7500 miles. They are pretty much race bikes and you have to stay on top of oil changes and valve adj and clean filters.

      @@brianrichard1768 So I picked up a 2012 today with 200 miles on it. Do you have this throttle abruptness issue? Like I twist the throttle a little get nothing, a little more nothing , a little more than it just jerks forward. Im also getting some back firing, popping. Have you heard anything about this?

    • @brianrichard1768
      @brianrichard1768  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jjohn56 The only time I had that issue was when I pulled out the hot start and started riding forgetting to push it back in.
