I'm working on a project that uses martial arts and acrobatics to play percussion music - finding ways that we can use the strikes to hit things that play notes/make beats. So yeah, I also think there's lot of underappreciated potential here. Maybe one day we can collab!

Thanks for sharing! What do you think about, instead of matching choreography to music, so match music to choreography? Of course, this means you need to work with a musician who is good at composing for action, but that might be an interesting exploration so that (as you said it) matching movements to music takes some of the power away, whereas, if you match the music to the movements, it might enhance the inherent power in the movements? Just a thought. Keep it up! :-)

sorry gonna have to disagree, so many ppl saying wushu/kung fu is dance and not martial enough, we dont need to add on to it. my personal opinion
    other than that, great performance

I know that one should do Wushu as passion not for money. But can you make a video about ways of income through Wushu?

Sure, Wushu can be a dance, why not? At the end of the day, a lot of us are just dressed in fancy pajamas, swinging around fake swords and sticks, indulging ourselves. The same cannot be said for many traditionalists, including traditional Chinese martial artists, who take themselves too seriously, pretend that what they are doing is somehow “better” than what others are doing, which is an altogether arrogant attitude to have, readily believe in their doctrines and dogmatic traditions that limit the practice of martial arts, and often do not consider reality.
Glad to see you can still find passion for Wushu! 🙂

After the eighties they sadly turned wushu into this. Watch 80s wushu competitions you will see whats is wushu. Even the weapons were heavier. However, modern wushu is a great way for self expression. Good luck to you my lady
