  • You've got your curtains for your pop up camper makeover... now how do you attach them? It turns out this is a common problem that we were facing. We asked fellow pop up people, and here's all their excellent advice!
    DIY ways to hang curtains:
    1. Reuse the C clips by hand sewing them onto the new curtains.
    2. Sew “Glide Tape” onto your new curtains. amzn.to/3hinzlK Valances. (Measure and research your own!)
    3. Use plastic to plastic epoxy to glue Command Clips over the C clips. Then, sew on loops or washers, or hang curtains clips. Here's a great tutorial from the Pop Up Princess www.thepopupprincess.com/pop-...
    4. Screw in hook eyes tot he C lips, then attach clips Jennie Woodall's idea!

    6. Magnets? If you have done this, let us know!
    7. Dinette area- tabs directly over frame. (from Kim Pehi)
    8. Tension Rods over bunk ends (photos from Christina Celestial) amzn.to/3578jWz
    9. Most economical and easy- zip ties and curtain clips!

    Eliminate any clips,hooks or hangers by installing an insulated wire which passes through the curtains sewn end loop .fasten at each end and one in middle with a half curtain either side .my jayco uses this system for the door curtain.

    I like the zip tie idea. But for now, I just took them all down on the bed ends. Hubs and I are the only ones who dress and sleep in our camper, so we just close the exterior curtains. For the pull up curtains on the kit/ sitting side, they will be replaced. I can't stand that cheap polyester fabric that snags so easily. I just haven't figured out how. I'll get a couple perma press flat sheets for fabric, that will coordinate with the original cushion/valence fabric which are still in perfect condition. Curtain on the front window by the door will be replaced, also, has C clips, with a tieback in the center. Just wish we had a place I could leave it up and open so I could work on it. Our garage isn't that large, and our driveway is sloped😏
    Glad I found you! Thanks for All of these ideas!

      I cut the old curtains off just below the part that was stiched to the clips and sewed the new curtains on to the old fabric. It was super easy. Struggling with how to do a gathered valance at the moment - with all the screws and spaces. Looking for ideas.

  • @Gamingoodz
    @Gamingoodz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have a few 3d printers and have been designing my own solution for this issue. I noticed those "Pup clips" from Etsy are actually 3d printed as well.
    I'm working on making clips that use metal snaps aka buttons so you just snap the curtains onto the track.
    I'm trying to find snaps that I like atm though. The ones I'm using to design and test out some test clips are made so the one side of the button screws in so I designed clips that have a raised area for the screw to go into. However I don't really love how the clips look so I want to try different button/snaps that have a shorter screw or have some other way I can attach them into my 3d printed clips.
    I could use magnets as well I guess instead of snaps/buttons but I kinda like how nice and secure the snaps are.

    • @AdventuresinPopUps
      @AdventuresinPopUps  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh my gosh, thank you! I am getting zip ties and curtain clips ASAP. I tried Velcro last year to hold up the curtains on our 22-year-old popup (still in great shape), but the result was sad indeed. They were flopping down upon us during a camping trip with our grandkids. I can sew, but I'm too lazy to do that before our vacation. Thanks SO much for putting together these ideas--and happy camping! Kids grow up too fast. :)

    Curtains have been one of my biggest issues!!! Thank you for having many different options but sadly none of them can apply to our pop up. We bought a pop up where the top had come loose during travel and blew completely off for the previous owner. So we bought it cheap and rebuilt the roof. Unfortunately, during the strip out the old part of the portion the curtain track was thrown out! I could NOT find where to buy replacement track so I was on my own. Eventually we tried the Command Hook idea to hold curtain rods. Well, you are right that they do not hold in the heat...especially Alabama summer heat! So I am again needing to figure out what to do for this coming season. After rebuilding this camper and seeing previous water damage, we will NOT be drilling, lol. I have some ideas that I hope will work. At least you have some great options to choose from, lol.

    • @AdventuresinPopUps

      I have also seen people screw traditional curtain rods. The trick is being careful to screw in a solid spot, and not puncture or damage anything.

      What about tension rods? I do think they would have to be taken down though, so the roof can close properly. But maybe you could leave curtains on the tension rods, and just lay them flat on the bed end mattresses for storage?

    I have not redone curtains yet but I need to. My son got sick on a trip when he was in bed, all over the curtain. I discovered in the middle of the night that those clips don't come off. I just had to rip the whole thing down.

    • @AdventuresinPopUps
      @AdventuresinPopUps  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this way would make them removable/washable! We ripped ours down too. I think there might be a way to pry each clip off, but then maybe the 10+ year old plastic would just crack.

    We bought curtain clips, but they snagged the fabric. We're looking for something else because our track is open on the bottom vs. the side. C-clips won't work, and because our pop-up didn't come with curtains, we don't know what to use.

    I'm upgrading a pop up camper. I saw this idea somewhere on youtube. First I saved the curtain clips from the old curtains. The idea I saw was to use a hot glue gun to attach the clips to the curtain. Looks really simple and a cheap fix since I already have a hot glue gun. If that doesn't work for me I may try one of your ideas. Thanks for the tips. Just curious how did the zip ties work out?

    • @AdventuresinPopUps
      @AdventuresinPopUps  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The zip ties are good, they just don't glide smoothly.... Come to think of it, they never did in the first place. 😏 I wonder if hot glue will hold up well under extreme heat and cold. 🤔 Worth a shot!

      @@AdventuresinPopUps The reason I was looking to find out how to remove the curtains is that the manufacturer had installed them wrong. The dinette table one was too short for that window by about 4 or so inches. They had the dinette curtain on the large window side (which is two curtains that meet in the middle) so I needed to swap them out. I lucked out, we just had to cut off a bit at one end of the plastic channel the c clips glide along, making space to slip the c clips off and then switch curtains. It took some sweat and tears as it's still tight at the end. They definitely won't fall out. So happy now, especially since I didn't have to buy anything to fix this.
