Don’t ask me why I enjoy this channel so much, I have no idea why. I’m a heavy equipment mechanic. I usually work on huge machines. The workings of watches just amazes me. So tiny yet so intricate. I love it. Here is to another year of watching repairs. Lol.
I'm 66yo, a manual labourer, have been all my life, that's not a complaint by the way, but just like you I find this channel interesting, enjoyable and relaxing.
While I don't dream of owning a Seiko 5 one day, that is by any standard a beautiful watch. I think a real purist will recognize it as a one-off work of art in the same vein as the cars that BMW had notable artists paint some years ago. These are now in museums and considered priceless. You may not think you did much to that watch but it is exquisitely tasteful and appropriate. It's the work of a master.
What I love most about videos like this is how you get your kids involved... it may only be some colour choices or even a few minutes of filming while you have your hands full, but knowing they are doing something to "help dad's work" is a huge confidence-builder for a young mind. I helped to colour-in my parent's architectural plans from a very young age, and it wasn't until I was an adult that I realised how proud I felt as a kid knowing those plans would get submitted to council for approval. We joke about my parents getting years of "free labour," but it actually gave me confidence in my abilities... I even challenged a teacher in primary school who tried to tell me I was "colouring-in wrong" when I used a common drafting technique in class!
I love how it ended up as a Gulf Racing Seiko 5. The colors and the lume on the hands were a great touch. Happy New Year to you and your family Sir! I hope that 2023 will indeed be a great year for us all!
This was absolutely delightful! And I loved your well-worded observation about the light at the end of the tunnel. You are absolutely brilliant (pun intended/not intended/hee-hee!). A perfect episode for the end of a year that desperately needed gentle, kind souls like you to brighten our hearts. Happy New Year to you and your family!
This has been my favorite of all your restorations. It oozes fun, and the lighter side of life. Something all of us need to take more time to do each day. The older I get the more time seems to accelerate. We need to enjoy each day to its fullest, and have fun along the way. Love it my friend.
Besides the significant watchmaking skills here, there is truly great taste exercised. The choice of colors and matching them to the bands is inspired. Nice work!
Mr. Nikki’s watch you are one of the best Watchmaker this one turn out to be Beautiful it’s an Awesome restoration love watching your videos God bless….
It's absolutely beautiful! What an amazing transformation - I love it! Seiko should award you a big prize for originality and precision! Awesome, Joe and Trouble, awesome 👌
It just goes to show that a little bit of creativity can make a whole world of difference! I love what you did with this rather uninspiring specimen, thanks Joe!
I'm so glad you covered a Seiko 5. I own several of these inexpensive classic automatic watches. I really love the way you brought the sad ol' boy back to life with a good dollop of modernism. Keep em coming, matie. 👍
I also want to say that one of my favorite parts of your videos is that you work on the cases and dials. There is a place for patina. But, there is also a place for polishing, brushing and replating. Well done, you.
Ex jeweller here. My eyes and fingers don’t work so well now so I love to watch your videos and have a giggle too. You are such a tonic in this scary world. Happy New Year to you and your lovely family X
The new crystal really streamlined that beauty. The new lume looks retro-futuristic. A hipster would proudly wear it. Besides your excellent work, the best part of your videos is your attitude. You set a good example.
That is my favorite piece you have done.....the orange and blue with the black strap are awesome....The fine detail of changing out the hands was what put it over the top!!!!!! I would buy that watch......It would be a show stopper...
Thank you for another great video. Your sense of humor and expertise has provided me with many hours of enjoyment through a challenging year. I look forward to what the next year brings. Happy New Year!
From not interesting to WOW, who says an old watch cannot learn new eye appealing tricks. The light blue and orange strap truly set the watch off. You can be proud to ware this or have it in your collection.
so glad to see yet another great video of your amazing skills, fun, and care of this awesome art called watch making. thank you Joe for all you do! It didn't take me very many episodes to hit the Sub button. Now I am one who can not wait untill the next episode pops up for viewing. You are in every since of the meaning a true artist, and Craftsman! Happy New Year to you and your family and please keep doing what you do here. Your talent inspires many so very much!
As a watchmaker I love watching you working simply for the joy of it! You do wonderful work, with a purely fun loving joy for it. Thank you for your videos!!

Your videos and expertise is hands down the best on the Net! Kudos
This has been one of my favourites for some reason, and the way it turned out was just great in the gulf strap. Keep up with the great content and comical narration, always puts a smile on my face. Kudos to you sir!
Your videos are like therapy for the soul. Nice and relaxing with the odd laugh thrown in. Nice to see you are upright in what is an upside down world. Don't ever change mate!
There's something deeply soothing in seeing such an overhaul of an all mechanical precision device held together by screws, freshly glooming at the end in the temporary lightlessness of a tunnel consisting of completely resined semiconductors not working due to an absolute unnecessary lack of basic energy .... thanks for filming and sharing, and all the best for a healthy happy and successful 2023!
Fantastic work as usual, great video! I love how you get your children involved with your profession. The selection of bands you shared ALL looked amazing, I wasn't able to choose one over the others! Happy New Year dear sir, thank you for all the past videos and looking forward for the ones to come!
I saw this earlier before it was pulled. It's beautiful but I would love the painted bezel and smiley face on the crystal! The blue strap with the orange and black stripe is my favourite! Happy New year Joe.
Mate, this is one of my favorite videos to date because i can relate to the watch and i love the personal touches. Also the blue and orange band is the one 👌. Reminds me of the old gulf western ford gt40. Happy new year and Merry Christmas 🥳
It's beautiful. From an ugly duckling's everyday pond-paddling wingwatch to a stunningly original and chromatic chronograph. A unique horologe: I'd buy one, if I could afford it! "The hour is close at hand, then," said the Master, consulting an horologe as large and as round as an orange..." ...and just as colourful. (after J S Le Fanu's ghostly tales.) Joe: loved it - and as usual, great teamwork !! 👏 👍 😀
Happy New Year Joe. You turned a very "sleepy" watch into an "awakened" beauty. I loved your inspirational end message. I too believe a mass awakening is happening. Evil hates this and I'll be ruthless in trying to stop it, but I truly believe that Love will win 🙏❤️🌟
When I was in high school, I was living on $7 a week. But I needed a watch to get to work and to class on time. I found a $3 pocket watches for sale. I bought it, it worked okay for about a year, then it died. I found a $5.95 Timex for sale. I was careful it lasted two or three years. When I get done with school and got into the workforce. My job was dirty and full of all kinds of hazards to watches. So I stayed with the cheap watches never more than ten or fifteen dollars. Because a watch was not likely to last very long, they'd get smashed. Soaked with hydraulic fluid, all Manor of destructive elements. From my point of view that is a very nice watch. I really appreciate the skills you display doing this work as well as your sence of humor.
I loved this, particularly as we now have something in common. I bought a Seiko 5 for my dad, a few years before we lost him, as the watch he'd bought in Germany in the 1950's, when he did his Nation Service, literally fell apart. I thought that another automatic watch would be good for him, as the one he had was an auto. I didn't realise though, and as you pointed out, you can't manually wind it! At this point in his life, he wasn't very mobile, and didn't get out much, and after a day or so, he complained that the watch was broken. It took a while, but we soon realised that he wasn't moving about enough during the day to keep it wound. We ended up getting him a Citizen that was solar powered, so, problem solved, and he loved it. That went to my nephew when he passed, and I kept the Seiko, which will go to my son, who, unfortunately, my dad never got to meet. These little things are what makes life so precious, being able to pass down, not an expensive watch, but a little piece of our family history. He'll have my Breitling when I'm gone, and he can be trusted not bt break it!! 🤗👍🏻 Happy New Year to you and yours, Joe. 😀
I like the bright cheerful colours, especially the Orange. A lovely way to brighten looking at the time. A little Ray of sunshine in the dull winter light. Even a year later I simply love this watch with the orange accents.
Someone is having fun....! - Hey, why not...! I really love your 'professional input' with the colouring of the bezel and those indents, along with your polishing of the case etal.. Looking pretty awesome, imo...! I'm a finishing carpenter by trade but can certainly appreciate the work and detail you do and put into all your restorations and finishing details. It's really awesome work. This watch, after all you did to it, looks incredible. Love how you restored the casing, the internals and what you've done to the finished product, including the strap.. Just another Awesome job. .. A watch I'd be proud to own and wear...! Kudos to you.........!
I've read through many comments and find that we all think the same way, so I won't repeat others, I'll just say thanks, loved the video in every way and look forward to the next one, God willing... 👍🙂
Once again, better than new. Unmatched watch content on YT.
As a fanatical watch collector that hates any change to anything, I love it! You polished that turd into a diamond. Great video my friend.
This is single handedly, the best refab you have ever done. You turned the dullest 5 into an absolute killer with taste and style. What a result.
I like it better when you talk while working. Talking about the "accountant or trouble" is my favorite.
RIght there with ya, I'm a structural ironworker.
For me, it 30 minutes to see the world become a better place.

Your relationship with your children is priceless.
I’m so happy I found your channel the level of craftsmanship you put into your restorations is truly inspirational.
Same here Josh..watching Nekkid is better than watching t.v. Lol😂👍
The tools, the precision, the craftsmanship is extraordinary.
@user-fm8es9ol8x , you are a scam and I am reporting YOU
I love how it ended up as a Gulf Racing Seiko 5. The colors and the lume on the hands were a great touch. Happy New Year to you and your family Sir! I hope that 2023 will indeed be a great year for us all!
Exactly my thought! Looked marvelous!
Yes looks mint now
Yep,Gulf band is the best match.
I was almost screaming at the video "Make the hour hand blue!".
You are a true artist, the watch looks amazing!
Wow! Love Seiko mods. The light blue and orange strap choice was a banger! 👍
Gulf racing colors!
There is most definitely a market for "Resto-Mod" watches. Brilliant idea brilliant job.
Well said.
A few good men indeed
...bought a non-chronograph Edifice with a broken crystal... mainly for learning, but loved how you worked this one. My hat's off to you.
This has been my favorite of all your restorations. It oozes fun, and the lighter side of life. Something all of us need to take more time to do each day. The older I get the more time seems to accelerate. We need to enjoy each day to its fullest, and have fun along the way. Love it my friend.
That orange and blue nato on that watch is stupid amazing. I would wear this all the time and I have PLENTY of watches to choose from.
I'd seriously buy this watch if it was on sale
Simply heart warming and delight for watch lovers. ❤
It's amazing just how different you made it look with just a few personal touches! I would 100% wear that watch proudly!
The kaki band looked the best.
Your videos are so soothing and relaxing. Thank you!
Glad you eventually treated it with the respect it deserves and that you always have when restoring. It looks great
Great to see what an expert can do with an everyday Seiko watch! Turn it into something magic!
Besides the significant watchmaking skills here, there is truly great taste exercised. The choice of colors and matching them to the bands is inspired. Nice work!
What an incredible job Joe, well done⌚️
The black and orange strap looks best, matching the lume and black hands.
Simply the best. Like your 'long sleeve'' shirt. 😜
Great work mate, the blue and orange strap works best, rocking the classic 70's Porsche Gulf vibe
Thank you 🙏
Great work, minimal "noise," real-life family around, good humor, interesting resussitation on a lifeless blob!
I am appreciative and grateful for your uplifting comments at the end of this video! P.S. cool, Seiko.
What a bit of fun! Well done Joe, and thanks for the wise words.
I just love the contrasting lume. It really puts this restoration over the top. Matching the colors of the NATO band was brilliant.
Thanks mate
Back here again - Still a brilliant episode. ❤
Simply outstanding, that is quite possibly the best looking, fun Seiko 5 I have ever seen given a new life. What a masterpiece. Loved it.
The blue and orange strap is really striking, but all three match.
Looks great!
Lovely jubbly! A really nice watch and nice finish with the 2 colour lume - beautiful!👍🏼
It just goes to show that a little bit of creativity can make a whole world of difference! I love what you did with this rather uninspiring specimen, thanks Joe!
Incredible! Not even the same watch - this is the version that Seiko should have made from the beginning.
I'm so glad you covered a Seiko 5. I own several of these inexpensive classic automatic watches. I really love the way you brought the sad ol' boy back to life with a good dollop of modernism. Keep em coming, matie. 👍

Fantastic job! I enjoy these much more than the fancy ones I can't afford.
Ex jeweller here. My eyes and fingers don’t work so well now so I love to watch your videos and have a giggle too. You are such a tonic in this scary world. Happy New Year to you and your lovely family X
One of my favorite builds you've ever done!
The new crystal really streamlined that beauty. The new lume looks retro-futuristic. A hipster would proudly wear it.
Besides your excellent work, the best part of your videos is your attitude. You set a good example.
Loved how this came out, you made it so much better than the original version. Cheers bro 🇮🇪
That is my favorite piece you have done.....the orange and blue with the black strap are awesome....The fine detail of changing out the hands was what put it over the top!!!!!! I would buy that watch......It would be a show stopper...

Your videos and expertise is hands down the best on the Net! Kudos
Thanks mate
I have come to expect high quality from you, and this video does not disappoint. Once again you delivered the goods.
Wow! That turned out so nice. For me, the simple designs are more elegant and classy.
Great job as always! That watch transformation was inspired. Thank you for another enjoyable session!
One word: sublime. My dad had one of these but watchmakers refused to fix it. Your creation is sublime Joe.
This has been one of my favourites for some reason, and the way it turned out was just great in the gulf strap. Keep up with the great content and comical narration, always puts a smile on my face. Kudos to you sir!
At first I didn't think that watch would ever look good but again you dispelled that notion
Your videos are like therapy for the soul. Nice and relaxing with the odd laugh thrown in. Nice to see you are upright in what is an upside down world. Don't ever change mate!

That looks really nice, a unique and great transformation. I would be proud to wear that Seiko.
Just wow 👌
Who would have thought that some guy playing with watches would give me hope for humanity. Thank you.
Lovely message at the end. Stay together and resist the petty tyrants.
Fantastic work as usual, great video! I love how you get your children involved with your profession. The selection of bands you shared ALL looked amazing, I wasn't able to choose one over the others! Happy New Year dear sir, thank you for all the past videos and looking forward for the ones to come!
My Mrs bought me a beautiful Seiko 5 from a charity shop in Northampton for my birthday......lovely watch
I saw this earlier before it was pulled. It's beautiful but I would love the painted bezel and smiley face on the crystal! The blue strap with the orange and black stripe is my favourite! Happy New year Joe.
Nice job. I love your cometary at the end. Peace
Mate, this is one of my favorite videos to date because i can relate to the watch and i love the personal touches. Also the blue and orange band is the one 👌. Reminds me of the old gulf western ford gt40. Happy new year and Merry Christmas 🥳
The GT40 was my first thought. If he decides to sell this one on, he just has post it on a Ford forum as a GT40 tribute & it would sell in seconds...
It's beautiful. From an ugly duckling's everyday pond-paddling wingwatch to a stunningly original and chromatic chronograph. A unique horologe: I'd buy one, if I could afford it!

I love how you involve your children the will cherish these memories :)
Fantastic looking SEIKO 5. Wish all watches had such appeal to their looks. You did a grand job Sir.
I like yourfree banter and your children's participating. I'm just a Watcher. Thank you
Love your sense of humor. This is probably one of my top 5 favorites that you’ve done. Made it sporty. ❤️✝️👍🏼🇺🇸
Your channel makes me happy. I love watches but your content is bigger than that.
It's heart warming. Thank you.

The white leather strap and the light blue with orange are my favorite regardless of how good the other combinations look. 😍
My favorite so far! Not only for my love of Seikos but also for my love of all things Motorsports. Well done! Thank you for sharing!
Creative and apt intervention in a dull and indifferent watch.
Respect!
The little kid in me jumped for joy. And thank you for sharing your memories to your father. 😇
I loved this, particularly as we now have something in common. You're an absolute artist. Took a boring watch I wouldn't want to wear into something I could only dream of owning.
Blue, black orange strap for sure!!! Fantastic Job!
I like the bright cheerful colours, especially the Orange. A lovely way to brighten looking at the time. A little Ray of sunshine in the dull winter light. Even a year later I simply love this watch with the orange accents.
Fantastic again. Love your content.

Yes! The ugly duckling has been transformed into a beautiful swan. Brilliant! It really does look sharp and unique.
What fun that was! Love the lightheartedness infused into the staid 5
Oh yes, beautiful result - very nice video, where the playful gets the upper hand!
I've read through many comments and find that we all think the same way, so I won't repeat others, I'll just say thanks, loved the video in every way and look forward to the next one, God willing... 👍🙂
What a fantastic turn around. Thank you. Peace.
An expert craftsman playfully using creative license and bending rules. This was a fun...watch ;-)
What you did was save one boring watch, you turned it into something to be proud of, that is one beautiful watch!
"Keeping us apart is their biggest prize".
Too true
You took boring and made it spectacular! Great job Joe!!
What a fun project! Your musings and silly commentary are the best part for me :)
