You could've used one of those automobile scratch magic remover pen, it works by filling up the scratches made on the clear coat of the paint. I think that it would have definitely worked as in this case the dial also has got a glossy finish to it which is almost similar to the paint of a car with clear coat on it.

That was actually insanely bad luck, akin to an account I read in which a guy, upon wearing a $2,000 bespoke suit on its first day, proceeded to spill piping hot oil-saturated ramen noodles all over himself . . . Although this obviously raises the question of why you’d wear such a thing to a casual noodles bar at all . . . 🤷‍♂️

Futzing around with the dial was a dangerous game, Mate! I found it fascinating the way you applied car restoration logic to the problem of the damaged dial, and the results were far better than could have been expected. A lesson in not writing off the broken and damaged among us, I suppose. Or perhaps that some damage requires time, care, patience and outside the box thinking to address, but recovery is indeed possible.
Or maybe it's just a cool watch returned to life from the midden heap. Your mileage may vary.

To death😢 After dropping it the third time while putting it on it ceased to function. After consultation with an pert I was thrown out of the shop for being the heathen that I am. The cost to lovingly restore my wonderful watch exceeded the replacement cost. My wife insisted I buy another but fortunately I could accept the truth. I can only be trusted with a discount store digital 😢 Thanks for showing that wonderful watch the love it deserved!😊

Nice "Smelly Cat" reference! I'm even getting used to your singing!
I noticed when you were stripping it down there seemed to be more oil than you would expect from a nearly new watch, and as you went through the oiling protocol you kept saying "I wouldn't oil it here but Seiko say I should so...".
Is there a reason they would over-oil the watch?

I received a Seiko 5 for Christmas when I was in high school. I hadn't had it on my wrist an hour and managed to gouge the crystal with my car's seatbelt leaving my grandparent's house. I was heartbroken but got over it and had the crystal replaced a few years later. By the looks of the case on this poor watch, it had already seen a rough and tumble life in the short time the young fellow had it!
    Great video and restoration!

Nice hearing your music! This Seiko looks great now! I have a scar in almost the exact same place, over my eye, but on the opposite eye from yours. It was from trying to follow my Daddy down the back porch stairs when I was 4 years old. He took them two at a time and my legs were too short but I didn't know that until I went headlong into the bottom stair, which was concrete, and landed on my eye socket bone. My parents took me to the hospital because it bled a lot but the doctor didn't put stitches, just a bandage so it wouldn't pull my eyelid in a funny position when it healed. I still have that scar and nobody is even aware of it unless I point it out. Same with your lovely Seiko dial face. Nobody will even notice if you don't point it out! Our scars give us character and tell a bit of a story about our lives. The one over my eye is tiny compared to the rest I've got from many abdominal surgeries for various reasons. They look bad but I'm ok with them because it shows that I survived!😁 God bless you and your family, Joe! ❤🙏
