We share the ocean with all that lives in it and each day brings the potential for interactions with the amazing creatures that inhabit it. You’ve done an awesome job of teaching your children to both love and respect the ocean and it was such a special moment to see Cali become aware of the shark but he was not scared of it, he calmly took action, getting on his board. Y’all have provided so many opportunities to your kids. Each one has taught them respect for the world around them. Each teaches love. The most important thing I see in every video is how much you love them and each other. When I first saw the story on IG I immediately noticed how Cali did not panic. He knew when he fell off to calmly get back on. And I saw the nervousness in Garrett when he heard from the neighbor. Keeping composure in the moment is what a parent (any adult really) should do. I never saw anything “irresponsible”. Great video! Great parents. Amazing kids.

Surfing in the ocean and there is a shark … nobody would expect that 😳. Seeing your family grow and the excitement when another family member falls in love with surfing is magical. Your children respect the world they have so much interaction with all that nature offers. Our children's teachers, wildlife and mother nature. The natural way to stay calm comes from the heart, Cali is wise and strong because you have taught him to respect nature and mother earth. Your children are educated to stay calm and respect wildlife, because we are in their homes. I'm glad that Cali stayed calm, and respected the shark. Panic may have caused it to go another way. But truthfully sharks aren't as bad as the rap they get, it's only once in a great long while that people get bitten by sharks, and it's usually the humans fault. They eat seals twice the size of him. He was lucky this time. I say this time because I Don’t know anyone who swim with sharks without some gear to protect them. There have been many people bit by sharks not sending any vibe as you say. You are in their territory. I live on the Gulf of Mexico and I lived on the Atlantic for over 30 years. Most of my adult life I have lived by and in the ocean swimming. For the most part they are on their mission either feeding or searching. But I don’t go in the water at early early morning or night. AWESOME LIFE!!! Beautiful family! It is so much more dangerous getting in a car today and driving the highways!
Don’t like the coin phrase it’s the humans fault, it happens because sharks make mistakes thinking it’s a seal. That happens naturally, it’s a slap in the face to people who have lost limbs.
Sickening. It's all fun and games until you lose the life of your Child. Believe me, I know!! We lost our 26 yr old son, our first born. Death is death. But preventative actions would keep yours alive and keep all their limbs. I can't believe that you and your wife find this so effing entertaining. What is wrong with you people??? I cried watching this because I think the life and the love you all live and have is beautiful. Take it from a family who lost everything bc of covid and went from living in 1k acres of lush forest and a huge lake where we could stay out in nature morning till night and return to our beautiful ho.e with giant windows to now living in someone's unfinished basement that floods and has mold and we can't tell if its day or night. And fighting and trying to not give up! I would literally give both my arms and legs to be able to give my family a life like yours. Thank you for appreciating what you have.

We lost our youngest son right after he moved to Hawaii in 2013. So that was really hard, and still is difficult.😢. But my husband & I do the best we can. We have our faith in God. 😊

What I see here is that you were a great teacher and your son a champ student! Lol I wish had someone in my life that would teach me to surf. It’s still on my bucket list.
I think you are amazing parents and your kids will be grow up to be incredible adults. How special it is to watch how your son handled the shark and didn’t freak out. If you to the mountains, you might run into a mountain Lion, bears, rattle snakes, even crazy moose. The ocean is no different. Becoming one with nature helps you to stay calm but you also go prepared. You are a visitor in their home. Treat it with respect and love. And always leave it better than it was when you arrived. @@Bluebell117 People take risks with their children every single day. If you don’t take risks then you don’t experience wonderful things. The chances of a shark attack are slim, and although they are more active at that time of day, the risk wasn’t that much higher. There are always sharks in the water, it’s always a risk, is every parent irresponsible for letting them swim in the ocean because sharks live there? This family is very well educated about marine life, they swim with sharks and whales on the regular, and love their children fiercely.

If you to the mountains, you might run into a mountain Lion, bears, rattle snakes, even crazy moose. The ocean is no different. Becoming one with nature helps you to stay calm but you also go prepared. You are a visitor in their home. Treat it with respect and love. And always leave it better than it was when you arrived. @@TheBucketListFamilywhat kind shark it was? Any idea? I scuba dive and had dove with bull and tigers (besides the Caribbean black tip, lemon, sand etc) in the wild in Fiji. They are huge! Can’t even think about it, one passing by him and his little toes in the water…
@@TheBucketListFamily Why do you keep talking about nibbling on his toes, have you seen shark attacks? … they don’t tend to nibble on your toes, they are brutal and often deadly.
@@Bluebell117 right? I just dont get it. Teaching our kids to be brave is great but putting them in the waters TAKING A CHANCE on them getting eaten by a shark is different. it cd happen. It has happened. Its like letting your kids walk home alone from school n saying “ not all ppl are predators.. alot are good” yah they might be ok but what if.. just what if one of the many bad ones happen to drive by n see them n take them? i just wdnt take chances like that with my kids. Everyone wd sing a different tune if those babies got attacked ..cuz they wd NOT survive.. even ‘a nibble’😢

@@Bluebell117 People take risks with their children every single day. If you don’t take risks then you don’t experience wonderful things. The chances of a shark attack are slim, and although they are more active at that time of day, the risk wasn’t that much higher. There are always sharks in the water, it’s always a risk, is every parent irresponsible for letting them swim in the ocean because sharks live there? This family is very well educated about marine life, they swim with sharks and whales on the regular, and love their children fiercely.

⛱️🌴Aloha from south shore Kauai. Lived here 24 yrs & never saw a shark. Worked on Maui 5yrs, never saw one. Been to every island but Kaho'olawe, never ran into one. Yr son is 5 & already w one. Brave boy. Loved video.
