Not gonna read through the acidic comments. I bought it...and having an absolute blast with friends. I haven't played SF2 since the SNES days and it was loads of fun.
I agree this game is a blast it's better then alot of 60 dollar games ppl are just being cheap spending 30 to 40 dollars for this game really isnt that bad at all.

Sure, this may be the best edition of Street Fighter 2, but even then you're not missing much if you only have Super Turbo HD or even if you only have the original Super Turbo.

Maybe UDON needs a new pair of glasses, it looks like shit, it always did since 2008. Capcom should re hire the old animators from the 90's who with very little pixels did amazingly beautiful games. You can take the original Street Fighter 2, add some bicubic interpolation to it and it look 10 times better than this shit.
I think I'll just stick with the Dreamcast port of SSF2X, which was arcade perfect with no unnecessary added bells and whistles.
Astfgl I heard the PC Engine version is pretty faithful to the arcade version. Might get that instead since it's on the Wii shop.
It wasn`t arcade perfect though, aspect ratio problems, some input lag issues, balance issues and If I remember correctly dee jay stage had frame drops. Supposedly The only arcade perfect of SSF2X is the PS2 version since it`s an arcde emulation.
Airsh Bornely This is SSF2T, not SF2. On that note, SF2 on pc engine is basically the snes port with inferior sound and music.
Yep, me too, love those same exact games/franchise (also it`s SHMUP library) ... but to my surprise SF2 CE on PC Engine wasn`t the port I was expecting.
Sudaca Gamer ST on the Capcom Classics Collection on PS2 wasn’t perfect either. And the one on SF30 is faster than the original CPS2 game. Ultra SF2 on Switch is not a port of ST, it’s just a new game. For starters it’s been rebalanced and it doesn’t have any of the old versions of characters.
Things not mentioned:
- all characters have been re-balanced
- throws can be tech'd
- sound & graphics can be mish mashed (surprised dave couldn't figure that out)
- color editor allows you to edit your characters colors
No they can't be mish mashed, you can't have the new musics with the old voices and FX.
At that price, the game is not worth it. Crapcom was just too lazy to make a actual new game dedicated for the Switch.

Hey there. Could DigitalFoundry bring up a comparison between Streaming Services for games? Right now there are so many alternatives and it would be interesting to know which one actually delivers the best performance and fastest connection to your viewers.
Me from experience Beam.pro(now called Mixer) which has 1-2 sec delay is the best as fastest connection interaction with viewers, after that its a fight between Twitch/TH-cam/Hitbox(vary between 5-15 sec delay). As for quality its TH-cam since it doesn't have limits of bitrate or resolution then Beam/Twitch offer the same in quality currently, however Beam offers more content and ideas for interaction with viewers so i'll add it as quality. However the most audience and where you would grow I'd say Twitch is 1st then TH-cam, then Beam(however its now integrated in Windows 10 and Xbox One, will definitely grow largely in a few months).
And where do I prefer to stream on, Twitch - Even if newer services have big improvements they will never catch or compete on its already established streaming mecha, just like no other video website can't compete with TH-cam or movie/series streaming websites can't compete with Netflix.
I think they should of added a few more frames of animation to the characters on the HD visuals. I get the artists literally drew over every sprite from the classic look, but it would make HD version look smoother.
That would be a ridiculous amount of extra work, and there woudl be no gaurantee it would look that much better. Udon's artists are not animators.

i definitely agree.. I would have bought it at 20£, even though i think it would still be too much but playing sf2 with hd textures would have been a nice treat. Selling the port of a port for 35£ is just insane, also considering that you can get king of fighters '98 or Garou MoTW for 6£ each. Not hd graphics but still great fighting games!
Did you change the options in the way of the hado menu? I heard it makes your gestures stricter and more precise, but haven't heard anyone analyse that yet.

Ah that classic audio takes me back to when I owned the original Street Fighter 2 on SNES. I can't believe they are selling it for so much.
It's nice to see that the HUD actually looks like Street Fighter instead of some mobile/flash game, and also that the classic mode is the actual classic mode instead of filtered classic sprites with the HD backgrounds.

I have never been able to get into any console version of Street fighter.
The arcade is where this series shines...
You can use the 8Bitdo SF30 Snes controller now. If you update to the latests firmware of said controller, it works perfectly with the Switch. I've been playing Shovel Knight with it for two hours yesterday and it's fantastic.
The UDON sprites look great but they don't transition well to animation, at least not without more work.
Does this game use the OCRemix versions of the music used in HD Remix, or were those dumped and a new score composed?
New score. 3DO soundtrack, the best ever, is still missing.
What I can say is that as an owner of SFV, with it's $6 per character/$8-10 per map DLC on top of the $60 retail price. I guess just be happy it's one game for one price. Even though that should be a given but ya know, 2017.
I really want to have SF2 on the go but, at that price, I can't justify it. Especially since I still have HD Remix on the old console if I'm ever in the mood for some SF2 action. At $20 this would've been a no-brainer.

The Pro Controller can work for USF2, but I actually recommend the 8Bitdo SNES30 if you don't already own a Pro Controller, since it's only $35 and it handles very well. That is, at least until HORI release their Switch Fightstick (I don't know why they aren't launching it alongside USF2.)
Ok, the Way of the Hado is still dumb, and silly, but seems no one bothered with the options: if you change the default setting from 'Casual' to 'Technical', you get the chance to configure how 'strict' the motions are detected, from starting pose, arm movement and speed, and ending pose, and you get to that for each move you want to perform! After tweaking those, I was reliably pulling off the moves I wanted without issues. Yeah, the mode is still dumb, but tweaking those settings really makes a whole lot of difference in how much in control you feel and not feeling it's non-responsive, now it's just a simple dumb mode, though leveling Ryu up is kind of fun.
I got my PS3 copy in a flash sale for $1.49.

It was overpriced at $15 for what it was. Though to be fair the original had a lot of heavy flaws gameplay wise that the FGC dissected well when it came out. This should have been $20 at most.

I actually like the new voices and sound effects of the game. Somehow it makes the choppy graphics seem a bit more tolerable. I don't know its just me. Personally though, a better way to celebrate SF's 30th anniversary is to remaster Third Strike but add all the characters from SSFII Turbo. Or remake Street Fighter 1, aka Street Fighter 1 The GOOD Version.
The new music sounds more like it belongs in _Braid_ than it does _Street Fighter._

You forgot to mention the new remixed soundtrack and audio is different on the original hd remix and the new announcer, music and sound effects sounds much better and more suited to the updated graphics on hd remix for the Xbox360 and PS3, also i preffer the new character artwork and hud for hd remix, it feels fresh and suits the updated graphics better, where as the switch version now looks closer to the original SSF2T, only in HD, only thing missing fron the original hd remix is the intro which could have been done better than the one on the switch which is to short.
Would've been cool if they had also given you SF 2: CE, and SF 2: Hyper Fighting with that $39 price tag.

they should have at least given us some options to alter the games mechanics(turning on/off or add air blocks, guard cancels and stuff) kinda like Street Fighter 3 on the did on the Dreamcast the price tag is a bit steep for what they provided us in game.

I haven't played this version of street fighter since the arcade (street fighter champion edition) so for me I am willing to shell out 40 for the game no problem it's a great nostalgic game I am completely up for reliving with the switch, which is the first Nintendo console I've had since the 64, let's go!!!

Capcom said they"ll use this game's sales to see if they will continue to support the switch which is really stupid. You get different kind of customers between franchises like SF, RE and Megaman. I can't believe this is what they came up with after those long meetings in the company.
I feel bad that Buddy Battle has no 3 Player support. You'd be better off getting Alpha 3 on Dreamcast or EX 3 on PS2 for 3-player Street Fighter matches.

Not effort was put into this game, effort is to redraw the sprites so they are 1:1 with the pixels, a little more frames of animation (IMO these hd sprites don't look good with so little frames in it's movements) and better motion controls for the 1st person mode.
To everyone who has a Switch, just get one of those Neo geo fighting games instead, there's definitely no shortage of those.

better late than never but capcom cut the price of this in half presumably for their 35th anniversary of SF, I figured at 20 even if I never touch 'way of the hadou' mode it would be worth it at 19.99USD... I have an arcade stick so it definitely helps give a pretty good arcade-like experience.
$40 isn't terrible for a game. There are a couple different modes and some real advantages to this version. SF II for SNES was like $75 when it was first released on SNES years ago (which would be almost $140 today after adjustments for inflation), so honestly, it could be a lot worse.
With that said, the game looks decent and it seems the Switch version is a worthy port that I'll be keeping my eye on.
I think this version is pretty good in most terms really. I am very glad they brought it retail and even the price is ok. I'd rather pay that than anything for dlc bullshit.
Since SF4 and 5 are nonesence to me I am really glad they brought this one.
One more thing to the price - its clever, there is not much on the system to get at all, so top titles are pretty rare here, so any good game is welcome. People pay more in these scenarios..

Both the classic and HD graphics look strange. The classic doesn't look good on aN HDTV as t was originally designed for CRTs. I think the inclusion of a scanline generator would have solved that issue.
well if you can master ryu's commands in Smash Bros, then you can master it with a joystick in this game.
