*glances at the copy of Bodycount sitting in my 360, on desk, underneath the screen displaying this video* I mean... I MIGHT have played it... it's a distinct possibility.
Apparently if you pull the left trigger half way in you can ADS and move. Was so bizarre. The thing i remember about this game was how it's scoring system encouraged chain kills n headshots, not destruction and multi-kills. Thats like making a street racing game and scoring people on how well they obey the road rules. 🤦♂️
A solid profile on this infamous shooter & supposed sequel to "Black"! I bought it the day it came out as I heard it was the sequel to one of my favorite 6th gen games. Sadly, it was slaughtered in reviews at that time & it obviously didn't sell well compared to "Black". I'm one of the 29 people who actually like it, so I appreciate your fair take on it!
That's awesome you kept up with and got the game on release. I didn't even hear about this game in 2011, I was playing the big productions at that time and this was nowhere near my radar. I think I would've enjoyed it in its time, especially getting to actually play the multiplayer would've helped as well
@MrHammers There was vastly more good games to experience back then, far more than games out compared to today. I read the gaming magazines & kept up on YT previews & reviews, not just the AAA big games coming out but AA ones too, many just as fun.
I think studios had the freedom to try new things back then. New gameplay ideas and experiences that they could try out especially if they had a big publisher footing the bill for it. It's just sad when ideas didn't pan out and those small studios get axed by the likes of EA
"Damn, if this game is so unpopular and old, it probably means it's rare as hell, but i think i want to play it tho..." *checks the price at the closest local game store* $ 2,50...
I wish development went smoother for codemasters because the world they were cooking looked pretty cool, they just never expanded on anything unfortunately
@@MrHammersif I remember correctly he helped produce a ww2 shooter in 2014 called Enemy Front, but left that project aswell. Some of the gameplay had his style but it sold and reviewed worse than Bodycount
Stuart went from project to project blaming everyone but himself for his failures and wiped out of the industry as far as I know. Its a shame, a lot of people who worked with him loved him, but ultimately he was given too much too fast, and partly based on people conflating the name of the first game with the idea that he actually lead that project.

I never got this game on the 360 but from what I saw from lets plays The Target is such an overly designed faction that is so technologically advanced their aesthetics are better suited for an Alien Race rather then a Clandestine Human Agency.
I thought that Stuart Black was more interested in another project that Codemasters Guildford was also working on Five-O, which was meant to be an open-world police-themed game which never materialized, leaving them to have to work on Bodycount.
Possibly, I know he was originally interested in making a spiritual successor to Black but not sure of his motives once that project went off the rails
I remember playing and replaying this game's demo on Xbox when I was a kid because the guns and environmental destruction were cool. Never ended up playing the full game tho.
strangest thing Hammers, for whatever reason I’m enchanted by the fine aim in Black/Bodycount. Little less than 30 minutes before you posted I was looking into grabbing a copy AGAIN 😂
Black should get credit for keeping the story to the bare minimum. Games are not movies and Hollywood scriptwriters should not come anywhere near them.
Eh, probably not as a AAA release. Maybe a smaller project that released for $20/$30 but linear shooters have kinda fallen off from big budget productions
I bought this game because I had watched reviews on TH-cam saying it was pretty bad. Knowing it wasn't great I still thought "how bad can it be?" and bought it used for super cheap.

I remember getting Bodycount at release on Xbox 360. Was it was good as Black? No. Do I think it's terrible? No. I've played through worse 7th gen FPS games like Rogue Warrior and Shellshock 2 Blood Trails.
@MrHammers, You want a boring FPS? Play, Enemy Front. That was very boring and Stuart Black worked on it too. Early gameplay teasers for that game looked better than what we actually got.
I LOVE Black, it's one of my favorite FPS games ever along with Urban Chaos Riot Response. Honestly I would've rather just had a Port of the original to PS3 and 360 instead of sequel. Also one big issue with the game that other videos talked about. The controls were AWFUL! You can aim and walk at the same time but you have to hold the trigger halfway there and it comes at the cost of additional spread. It doesn't help that reloading is delayed by 2 SECONDS!

The environments are beautiful. It would be a lot better though if you would actually be able to aim down the sites. Black didn't do that either, but it would have changed things. These settings and the basic idea of the plot really invite an opportunity for rich characters. Not letting you pick up enemy weapons and being stuck with a particular weapon until you can get to a checkpoint is a weird idea.

Black was fun but even on the hardest mode was way too easy and repetitive. It looked great for PS2 though, and some reviewers even said they gave it a higher score because of that.
At the risk of being cheesy, BLACK was inspired by Hollywood Blockbusters and Bodycount was the DVD sequel.
Actually that’s the perfect way to describe it!
That's the best description you give it to this game.
It will never not be amusing that Black's director is "Mr Black"
Raycevick's "hehe" always echoes in my head when I read his name
Agent Black
It was his game and he named it after himself. Not that amusing.
Emerson Black
John Black
It's pretty depressing how Black came in as one of the best FPS games in the mid-2000's only to die from EA's hand, and Bodycount didn't sell well.
Typical EA innit
In all fairness, Bodycount didn't deserve to sell well.
What was the crazy mechanic they used? I'm sure he's gonna mention it in the video. But there was some mechanic that made me not even wanna try this game@@ClarkKentai
